KevH 257 Posted June 7, 2008 i knew Ian personally his mother worked for us for awhile and my father was Ian's first sponsor at Elle Port ,Ian was a fine man and a resonable rider .It was agreat shook to hear of his death and agreat waste of a young life ,I can't image why he took his life although he did have a very sensitive side to his nature that very few saw RIP Ian. I'm shocked to hear that, the news must have passed me by..............when did that happen?
oddfossengen 1 Posted June 9, 2008 I've seen somewhere a big monument in Gorzow as a tribute to Edward Jancarz but i would guess Wimbledon fans would know more.yes he was stabbed to death by his wife because eddie like soren sjosten surcummed to the evils of drink after his retirement and frequentely beat his wife.as sjosten being an ex navy wrestler would pick a fight with anyone after a few beers

Knowle 51 Posted January 30, 2011 I've just read through the whole of this thread for the first time and I feel completely choked. I didn't realise Billy's son committed suicide too. It's not nice reading about the ones you know of but the thought of what that lad went through and the thought of him being left stranded at school in those circumstances is very very sad indeed. With regard to Carter, I only recently discovered that contrary to my belief that it was a spur of the moment act, he had been going through many troubles, including a business gamble that went wrong and together with his marital problems this led to him planning the whole thing, which is even more chilling. I believe his mother took her own life too after a very disabilitating illness some years previous to this and Kenny worshipped and physically cared for her. In recent years we have also lost 2 other great riders, Emil Kramer and Paul Fry which I believe were both suicide but I sincerely apologise if this is not correct. Rest in peace one and all. Not Emil Kramer surely. I thought that he was killed in a road accident.
ImpartialOne 160 Posted January 30, 2011 Not Emil Kramer surely. I thought that he was killed in a road accident. He was but my understanding of it at the time from people who knew him was that it was not exactly an accident. Forgive me if I'm wrong but that is what I was told at the time. Dave67 15 Posted February 1, 2011 Yes what KC did was wrong but............. a speedway rider does believe it or not have a personal life which REALLY is none of anyones business, what he did off track has nothing to do with what he achieved on track and that goes for all the others riders that you feel have wronged "Our" sport for having personal lives!!!!! There but for the grace of god go I .......... mind your halos don't slip you could end up strangling yourselves This post is so wrong. He committed murder & orphaned two kids & no doubt caused considerable damage to other family members left behind. Whatever he did on a bike is irrelevant. he was a murderer & deserves to be remembered as such.
The White Knight 9,039 Posted February 1, 2011 Just for information, I suffer from periodic depression, as to many other people. When the illness afflicts us, many sufferers find themselves thinking and fantasising about suicide, even if we never do anything about it. We don't want it - it just comes with the territory. When you're in that mindset it might only take one event to push you over the edge to enact those fantasies and to do something totally beyond all reason. And while you're doing it, it might appear totally reasonable and justified - but that's the disease talking. The moral is not to judge too harshly, however terrible the circumstances might appear - KC might have found himself in a position beyond all control due to an illness. <img src="http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> Well said AndyM - I can empathise with that. Sorry, but YOUR POST is the one which is so wrong - maybe you are fortunate never to have suffered even the most minor of mental health problems - if you had, you would probably not have come out with this outburst Perhaps, in fact, you are UNfortunate never to have suffered a mental health problem, so that you would then have had a slight understanding of what happens Kenny Carter obviously went through many, many years of problems - mother, business, etc - culminating with the saddest of eventualities, which, whilst not condoning, I do have some understanding He deserves some sympathy for the situation he found himself in and for what occurred, albeit at his own hands - perhaps one day, you yourself will have the need for some understanding - and sympathy - for a situation which you probably cannot envisage at present

As for deserving "Sympathy", give me strength, he took a shotgun to another human being, let alone all the other problems that caused to those left behind, there is no excuse for that. I am not about to discuss MH issues on this forum, needless to say, I am well aware of MH & it's effect's I also deal with people genuinely suffering & allegedly suffering from MH problems on an almost daily basis. I maintain, he deserves no sympathy & certainly no eulogising(sp?), as a speedway rider, which some seem to want to do.
