On the subject of shared events all teams from the league that it concerns should be involved, Be it Pairs, 4 Team etc This would not be impossible for any forward thinking Promoter to arrange. Just a thought to maximize Attendences.

just bring back qualifiers ...the old fours qualifiers and a new semi finals stage for the pairs

Not practical(or viable) but perhaps you know something that all promoters over the years have failed to spot.

The solution is in actual qualifiers or strict criteria for selection for a meeting that is viable.
