Joe Haines was in a class of his own tonight a won quite easily wih a maximum. Had to pass from the back just the once, his last ride against Byron Bekker.

Dissappoiting crowd tonight, seemed to be less there then there has been for this meeting the last few years.

Was some good racing but not quite as entertaining as the last couple of years. Interesting though that there wasn't a single rerun race. Just the one race being stopped and awarded.

Jade Mudgway turned up late after getting stuck in traffic and missed his first two rides.

Joe Haines was a worthy winner with an efficient 15 point max

I thought Aaron Summers was the most exciting rider on the night pity he didn't score more consistently.

Poor crowd as Rob says - I often wonder what the young riders make of this enthusiasm by the supporters

Most of the races were processional with some passing in too few races

Just got back from the meeting via a shopping trip to the 24 hour tesco (why is it busy this late on a wednesday evening).

Crowd was ok but not great. Joe Haines was a class apart from everyone else. Made 4 lightning starts and the one race he didn't gate he just used his brain and hugged the inside to great effect.

Only one race out of 20 was strung out and it was strung out, there was almost 3/4 of a lap between 1st and last.

Judging by tonight the future of British Speedway should be fine for some time yet.

I don't know who got awarded the most exciting rider on the night as I had to leave straight after the run off cos the little un needed a feed....See Speedway Star June 23rd edition (the one with Chris Holder on the cover) and turn to page 27 (top right) to see me, the little un, the wife and simon stead.

Enjoyed the meeting.

Good Luck to the guy.

Jade Mudgway has appeared frequently on the pages of Speedway Star over the past couple of years during the winter months when they give coverage to the NZ scene.

There's also a Steve Mudgway. Both ride mainly at the Palmerston North track, which gives a few speedway heats during its mainly midget car, sprint car and stock car programme.

He has taken a very big step and wonder how he will fare in the UK and Europe. Let's wish him well...I think he will find it tough going on this side of the world..

He looked very tall and had a strange style, virtually stood up going into the bends, must of been about a foot between his backside and the seat.

Thinking now reminds me a bit of Frank Smart.
