Swc Round 2 Coventry 14th July

You know...as soon as I hit Add Reply on that, I thought someones going to pick up on that and miscontrue it. So just to clarify (I've seen the hysteria on some of other threads today so I'm certainly not adding to it!) I meant ride as they did in that heat tonight (which is what i was thinking of rather than your wording)...just getting in the way of each other(other riders), certainly not fencing!!

What a nob Lynch is. Lets hope he only gets the one year. He doesn't seem to have a lot of respect in the sport anyway so it should be a year only job. The under21 set up looks mickey mouse as well.

Lynch is doing our future prospects no favours whatsover picking two poor riders like Allen and Stead. Give our two best young riders as much top level experience as possible. We ain't winning the tournament so do what the Danes did a few years ago and give the youngsters ago. Look where they are now. Kennett and Woffinden are both better riders anyway and would perform no problem round Cov. Kennett has got the hang of it now and Tai is just to talented to leave out. He has more talent in his left testicle than Allen and Stead have put together.

He has put himself in a position as well. Although highly unlikely to happen, what if Stead and Allen perform well? Having already named Kennett and Tai at Vojens he could find himself in a hole.

Using the home track excuse to use two riders who will never ever make it to the top level of the sport when our two best youngsters need all the experience at the top level is a disgrace.

Just look at the performances of R/R and unSteady tonight. Laughable isn't it that riders of that standard are taking places of riders who are more talented and who need the experience.

Well done Jim.

As normal chris is correct ...only the other week mr slime was saying that we are not trying to win this year and would be looking to do well in the next year .

But before you know it one line one track ponies John stead and cry baby allen are in the side

Lets hope this is lynch first and last year in the job and rosco is put in to gel a team of youngsters and underdogs to punch above there weight like swindon have this year .

Only really worthwhile selecting unSteady if it was being held at Workington, which it isn't.

Exactly. I'd have gone with Nicholls, Harris, Richardson, Kennett and Woffinden for all meetings.

Agree completely. Why have no hopers tead and Allen? Makes no sense. get in Eddie and Tai and if we fail to qualify at least we have blooded two talents. With all the good will in the world Allen is not good enough. And on current for neither is Stead.

BRING BACK MIDDLO.

Pretty much sums up how I felt when he announced the team. Kennett, in particular, is an obvious choice and Tai proved in the British final that he has what it takes at top level.

I'm sure Stead and Allen will pick up a few points and we'll get through to the race off at least, but so would Kennett and/or Woffinden. Same result, but without those two gaining the World Cup experience.

Czech teamI am sure is:-

Ales Dryml, Lukas Dryml, Adrian Rymel, Lubos Tomicek & Fillip Siterra.

I wonder where the idea of Mikael Makovski riding for a Czech team came from, he has not ridden in his home country since signing for The Bandits in 2001.

I saw on Sky Text the Dryml's top scored, how did Adrian get on?

Sorry to interrupt the Lynch bashing, do carry on

Lynch says: "We've pack the team for the Monday night full of Coventry track specialists."

Just because someone rides for Coventry, doesn't make them a track specialist!

I have to say I agree with the inclusion of Olly - the boy can gate, and he knows Coventry well (not saying he's a track specialist, but he's very familiar with the track). I think he could be a trump card.

Steady, on the other hand, after some very up and down scores this year, after he was left out of the final the other year (there was obviously valid reasons for this!), and after his dismal performance last night - why, oh why?

Let Tai have a go... at least he sounds pleased to be in the squad. Both Allen and Stead didn't look as chuffed as Chris Louis described them as being last night on Sky.

You can see why he has named Staed & Allen.

Personally I would have gone for Kennett and Woffinden but there are reasonable arguments for any of the four to be included.

Hopefully the five selected will do us proud and get through to that final.

That was comedy last night. It was announced that the 2 extra names to the obvious 3 are the 2 team mates who have just nearly had each other in the fence. Personally I'm a bit annoyed. I like Steady and Allen is a rider I rate but Lynch goes on about building for the future and then leaves out Kennett and Tai. And then says they're definitely riding in Denmark.. but what will he do if Stead and Allen have superb showings and the top 3 don't match. What will the answer be, drop the British Champion? The rider whose best form seems to be his world cup form? It'll be interesting to say the least. If we're building then give these young talents as they undoubtedly are a chance and that includes Coventry. Wonder what Middlo would have done. Can't see us getting straight to final, possibly not past the race-off either. Hope they do us proud but I struggle to have any enthusiasm or optimism for this I'm afraid.

Exactly. A selection theory that fails on all sorts of levels. One, many people will not be convinced that Stead/Allen is stronger than Kennett/Woffinden. That, however, is the team manager's call and fair enough.

Two, if you want to blood the youngsters surely you do it in the home round in welcoming surroundings. Then, if they take to it (and the team progresses) they look to step up a level in the race-off or final. The first experience shouldn't be abroad with elimination likely – that's not going to breed confidence.

Three, what kind of incentive is it to Stead/Allen anyway? Bust a gut for the flag and then be told: Thanks, but no thanks?

To be fair, Steayd looked far too happy to me last night considering how badly he was doing.

I can accept Olly at Brandon but not Stead, shocking. Should be Ed and Tai at Brandon, look tot he future and all that. Ed is going places, I don't think anyone needs me ot tell them Tai is. Steady is only going PL and Olly while I like him is not the future of team GB.
