Guest Ashie Smashy Posted August 30, 2008 And Sam Ermolenkos comments 'they need more practise' - he'd be on his bloody arse if there was nothing wrong with the track whatsoever. Sam is proof that the greatest sportsmen in a particular sport don't necessarily make for good commentators. Didn't know if Crump could pull that off but a truly sensational final saw him to the top of the rostrum. Got to agree with Silver Bee - on form he is quality to watch. Thought Nicholls was kind of unlucky, he had 1 s*** ride but had the track not caught him out before it was sorted out, he'd have made the semis (well, it would have been pretty likely). Rode well in 3 of his races though so maybe can perform well in the last few GPs and get into the top 8? Agree Re Crump, superb final. Disagree over Nicholls, how many times does it blow it when it counts, he is a loser in that respect compared to the top riders who hold their nerve. Shame because he is a great rider, but he can't cut it at the top level until he sorts his head out.
Guest Sir Lunchalot Posted August 31, 2008 (edited) Maybe I'm dim but exactly how did Pedersen get the spot in the semi finals on a count back over Nicholls ? I looked at the speedwayworld.tv site and it shows both Pedersen and Nicholls having one win, two seconds, and two fourths for 7 points, but it shows Nicholls finished in front of Pedersen when they met (heat 5). Nicholls also had the lower jacket number (8 vs 11) if that counts. What have I missed ? Or is the speedwayworld site wrong ? Edit : Just found out Nicholls had an exclusion and that ranks worse than a finished race in fourth, seems crazy to me but never mind. Indeed, dunno why they don't simply have a run off when riders finish level on points. Fairer, and provides more entertainment for the fans.

This is no time for introspection or self-doubt, Lunchy, pull yourself together. I put it down to all that lovely Pomgolian weather you've been wallowing in. Small print:- Sky commentary box may not actually be situated at the track. Sky TV will no way be held responsible if winner shoves microphone down Millards throat at first mention of any of the above.

Subedei 0 Posted August 31, 2008 Which then showed him roughly level with the other riders when he was excluded, so for all but a split second or two he was there, if not there with the others. Common sense should prevail and let him ride and let the paying public see the best riders not a reserve (in fairness the reserve made real go of it). By excluding him the race is further delayed 4 or 5 minutes. Pure madness. It's not pure madness at all. It's the rules. What next? Not getting excluded if you only touch the tapes a little bit? I mean, as long as you don't break them excluding the rider only delays the meeting. Jonsson was rightly excluded. Barker should've been excluded twice at Coventry last Monday.
