Bjarne Pedersen Testimonial Thread - 18/03/09

Recommended Posts

Why is he ?

I have done 27 years service to my company and I work 50 hours a week for them, after 25 years I got a watch.

So a speedway rider of this level (and this is not a personal thing to Pedersen) takes an absolute fortune in points money out of a country which is not his home country, rides for numerous other clubs all over the world, not dedicated to just one employer and is then entitled to a testimonial which will net him what............£25k, probably more

Sorry, absolute garbage in todays world.

I say scrap testimonials, I am all for helping riders who suffer life changing injuries but this type of charity should stop immediately.

Chris Brown

Gold Watches talk to me. Terry Tibbs has worked for Terry Tibbs motor company for 42 years and 50 hour weeks well they are the norm, that's the trouble with the youth of today, they don't know what hard work is like. You need a break Chris Brown, come and join me, Pav Pavitt and Main Man on our trip to New Zealand. Daily oil massages from Maori girls and serenading scantily clad beauty's on the beach by night.

I'll give you £500 for your gold watch Chris Brown, now go forth be strong, do a little wiggley woo and tell your boss that Terry Tibbs works as many hours as you each week. You don’t just jump into bed with Terry Tibbs, you take Terry Tibbs out to lunch , you wine and dine him, you give him an oil massage then he gives you £250, yes £250 for that Watch Chris Brown and a discount on Pav Pavitt's premium rate phone lines.

I'll give you £200 for that watch and that's my final offer.

And that's why they call me Terry Tibbs. Thank you goodnight much love.

As I read through this thread I became annoyed by the content. Bjarne has been a great servant to Newcastle/Poole Please just accept that he is entitled to a testimonial and lend the organisors your support

I feel the same as you John. Bjarne never let us down or Poole and is entitled to the testimonial under the rules whether people on here like it or not. Time for some to get on with it.

You are right Tsunami and please don't think my rant was anything related to Bjarne Pedersen who of course is one of those who have been good servants to their clubs

My point is that in an age where people, speedway fans some of them with donkeys years are losing their jobs, its frankly obscene that a speedway rider at the top end of the sport financially is able to cream a huge lump sum in this way. Not his fault, he is entitled to it under the current rules. I am sure Woolworth's staff were extremely loyal but frankly it is somewhat irrelevant

The current rules need to change however in my view.

Should be a cracking meeting, hope Mr Poole gets the turn out he deserves.

As a side note, if any Newcastle fns are planning coming down by plane, give me a shout, I'm sure I can arrange some transport between Southampton airport and the stadium.

There are many fans coming down to see a great lineup with riders with Diamond history. At the mo attempts are being made for a bus to come down on the Wednesday, stay over night and return home on the Thursday. Thanks for the offer, it is appreciated and you may have a take up on the offer yet. Ta.

I have not seen an anouncement of this, is this through the NSSC or something else, if so hopefully an announcement will be made on the website?

Thought that the 'Fog on the Tyne' might follow us down so settling for the bus. :approve:

Plane was considered, only about £9 I think but logistics were a bit daft so the bus it is.

I have to agree with Chris Brown's post in parts.

When a rider gets a career ending injury then let's have a meeting to raise funds. Also when a rider has given maybe 15 years service to the sport then let's have a testimonial.

There are too many testimonials now. They should be special events & for really long service to one club or the sport in general. The riders at the top end like Bjarne ( but this isn't a dig at him ) earn really good money so why should they get even more ?

Testimonials should be for those who have entertained over a very long period & for those who need the cash like Kim J at Ipswich.
