And why did these riders have a divine right to be at Brandon? They didn't quality - 16 other riders did. Simple as that.

 

Thats spot on... Some people do talk some crap on here. Zagar and Co didn't get through the qualifiers, the others did, so they are the ones that deserve to be there, however good or bad they go at Coventry.

I must admit I'm sorry Rory wont be riding, as round Brandon he's been really good this season. I think Bomber will do well (obviously), but I think Smoli will be a real dark horse for this meeting. I can see him picking up a shock gp place because if he has a good day he can beat just about anybody.

Is it not feasible to get all the qualifiers out of the way by the end of May and then run the GP's every other week thereafter?

It would be incredibly tough to schedule all the matches in that space of time. The leagues would be struggling to get a day to run if you tried to do that.

 

Possibly just as importantly, the riders who ended up contesting the GP series wouldn't have any time to prepare. Without knowing for sure that they had a GP place, it would be a much tougher sell to some sponsors!

It`s someting to ponder on , what if by the time this meeting comes around freddie is a cert for a top 8 finish dosen`t it seem a little unfair even though he probably deservers to ride at coventry that someone could`ve had the opportunity to ride alas making this a 15 man field rather than a 16 man field in theory??????

 

but if someone just missed out on making the final then surely that means that not only are they not as good as freddie (top 8) but also as good as the other guys............ I think we should be urging for gp riders to be in the qualifiers as much as we can rather than worrying about riders who havent beat them

 

however all that said....... I wouldnt be suprised if we see Freddie, or Ken drop out due to being assured of being given a permanent WC if they dont finish in the top 8

I just cant see how this would be good for the rider or the competition....... what Emil has achieved has come with a price tag and some people somewhere are paying highly for it.......... with the greatest of respect I would have thought it is extremely unlikely that Smoli would keep his head above water in the GP's without some major support....... and that would no doubt make a major dent somewhere in his confidence

Well 2007 at Vojens there were strong rumours that both Freddie and Kasprzak had been given a WC before the meeting,and that is how it seemed to a lot of fans who i spoke to as they couldn't understand the lacklustre performances otherwise.........but both rode in the meeting
