lucifer sam 3,955 Posted July 19, 2009 Rob, I will be totally honest with you, I wasn't aware of Kenny's sad passing until I got back home after the event and I have to say it took the shine off the day for me personally. I dare say many or all of the people working at the stadium all day long to put the event on, were not aware either. Had we (Peterborough) known, we would have asked the organisers to hold a minutes silence, but I am unsure whether they would have done. However, Peterborough will be holding a minutes silence in Kenny's memory at our next home match against Wolves this coming Thursday. Mick, thanks very much for that response and the explanation. Peterborough put on an excellent meeting on Monday and I hope you are rewarded with the final in forthcoming seasons. All the best Rob

All the best Rob Fair play - and I agree with above - racing was much closer and more exciting.... Pboro has been an under rated venue for years

iris123 21,047 Posted July 19, 2009 Never heard of either person mentioned in that first thread.......so it took me ages to even look at the thread i confess.Doubt that many speedway fans have heard of him either, sadly. That is the way i guess.I am only really interested in riders anyway. But obviously some people like Pratt,Middlo and Rosco you hear about.Must confess i had never heard of Rob Lyon before his GB manger appointment,so it is no wonder i have never before heard of this guy

And that is probably the place you would expect him to be remembered.I don't want to sound disrespectful, but an international meeting doesn't really strike me as being the right place. There are probably sadly a number of international riders and admin people that die every month, but won't be respected on such a stage.Last year the President og Togliatti was murdered on the street.I am not sure if his memory was honoured internationally, and i would imagine he was a far bigger player on the international speedway scene
