HenryW 1,178 Posted July 22, 2009 The Poles don't hang about when it comes to something as serious as speedway. Decisions on the punishments have already been made and there are no suspensions for the riders. The punishments handed down are: 3000 PLN fine for each rider refusing to race. 3000 PLN fine for each club per rider who refused to race. 50,000 PLN fine for each club (suspended for 6 months) The managers of each club have been suspended for 1 month. Referee, Marek Wojaczek, has been suspended for 3 months.

HenryW 1,178 Posted July 22, 2009 So the rider who said it was not safe have been punished as has the referee who said it was safe? So was it safe or not? Brilliant. From what I got from the statement, a referee is the one with the final say on whether a match goes ahead or not. For failing to take to the track when the referee declared the match was on, the riders and clubs have been punished. However, the referee failed to follow the administrative requirements in this situation, so he too has been punished.

King Jamie 356 Posted July 22, 2009 Hmmmm. You could give up Armadale, Sainsburys get the Planning Permission early to thwart Tesco and give you megga bucks for your assistance, Monarchs to ride all their home meetings at Ostrow which means TJH would ride every week. Sorted and everyone's a winner. All it needed was a bit of lateral thinking KJ. yes, very good...

jgudgeon 0 Posted July 23, 2009 I was at Ostrow and it was quite frightening at times! At one stage there were 1000 fans outside the pitgate and they charged through, only to be contained by police dogs. The police threw some tear gas at them and they caught it and threw it back! Coins, eggs and bottles were thrown over the fence and at the vans. We were locked in the pits for 2 hours!!! All 16 riders (Harris, King, Klindt, Risager, Nermark, Ljung, Jablonski among them) refused to ride an they have subsequently been fined 3000zl. The referee has been banned for three months and the clubs fined.
