Looking at the thread for this meeting on the Russian Forum, they aren't happy that only 2 foreigners are riding, whilst Kaminsky is also getting stick for riding on a Ukraine Licence. Joni from MC Assen did point out that many of the potential riders are in the Team Championship (Holstein, Malinen etc) but that didn't go down well either. Looking at the pics from practice they may very well be playing spot the crowd at this meeting. They could save time at the parade and introduce the crowd to the riders!

Finns are supposed to have Aakko, Lehtinen and Järf?!!! What's this you about Malinen? Or did Lehtinen withdraw from this one after he was denied access to Russia for the EC final. They demanded registration papers for his bike on the border while Jussi Nyrönen went through (like many before) with out a problem some 300km towards south at another station.

Like you said a year ago, this whole meeting is a joke. I mean that in a sense that UEM tries to create something that doesn't really have a demand. I heard that the Swedes tried to make this U35 because they didn't really have anyone to enter!:lol:

How come Kaminsky have an UA license after riding in the wc under RU?

The post about Malinen on the Russian Forum was a couple of weeks ago, Joni pointed out that meeting clashed with the Team Championship and that many of the riders would country before this championship, which is why Malinen was mentioned. I don't think the teams had been finalised at that point, but I may be wrong (and frequently am  ).

Kaminski rode on a Ukraine licence at St. Johann and is credited as Ukrainian in all the documentation, although he is Russian. Hence the comments about him "turning" to the Ukraine, and stirring up anti Uraine passions amongst some of the posters

Interesting point, all the Russians in this meeting are under 21, whilst if you are not Russian you have to be under 25. I take your point about Sweden, but could we not allow Brits to be under 45 (sorry Mark  )?

Yes the meeting is a joke, and once again the UEM have scheduled one of their meetings opposite a major FIM meeting, then wonder why it won't be a success. Last year the comments were basically why watch the Russian Junior Championship with a couple of foreigners? They are basically the same again this year.

Plus why trek half way across Russia to be watched by one man and his dog, when many of the fans are trekking to the other way towards Moscow to see the Russians win again.

At the moment there is nothing to suggest there will be a live TV/Webcast of the event, but if I find one I'll post it.

Test match between Sweden and Finland will go ahead at Örnsköldsvik on February 24th. Teams as follows:

Finland

Antti Aakko, Kai Lehtinen, Mats Järf, Henri Malinen, Seppo Siira, Janne Vilponen, Matti Hanninen, Jouni Seppänen and Jussi Nyrönen with team manager Jyri Palomäki.

Sweden

Per Anders Lindström, Fredrik Johansson, Per Olov Serenius, Peter Koij, Stefan Svensson, Ulf Ledström, Hans-Olov Olsén ja Robert Henderson.

The "signing" of Seppo Siira has created a lot of hassle on the Finnish forum, but he is eligible and good enough and also wants to take part in this meeting so why not?

EDIT: I spoke with Jouni Seppänen in early December and he was saying how well Aakko is prepared for the season. After team finals and speaking with Aakko Seppänen is even more confident that Aakko will do really well this season.

EDIT II: Last test was at Tampere in 2006. Finland was slaughtered 43-65.
