Gp 2012 Qualifiers

Recommended Posts

I didn't think the British Final was part of the qualifying process anymore? Why can Tai not qualify this year?

I'm not sure if the process has changed for next year but I do remember Tai kicking up last year after his failure to qualify for the British Final as it meant he would be unable to take part in GP qualifying this season....... his absence from the process seems to confirm that

My understanding is that the Brits contesting this years qualifiers for a 2012 GP place come from the 2010 British Final, similarly next years qualifiers will come from the 2011 British Final.

If it's 6 places next year it'll be Nicholls, Harris, Woffy, Kennett, Richardson, and Barker as first choices, with Robson and Bridger next in line if any of the 6 decline to take part.

being as much a fan of the old road to the world final process as the current GP process I can appreciate a system where its fair for all and the likes of Leigh Lanham get a chance in qualifying next year (if the usual suspects pass on it again)

But it really does strike me as a bit stupid that in the first place one of our shining hopes is in effect ruled out of the world championship for a year..... but even more so if the rules havent changed since that .............. surely even if they are not going to allow themselves a facility to let guys who have failed fair and square get back in to the process on a wildcard basis... they should be allowing themselves a potential facility for anyone who was injured at the time of the GB champs semi + final?

the carrot and stick approach can be a good one and may well in the future have gone a long way to making guys like Tai understand that he has to fight for things...... but I wonder if we truly have the numbers for that approach to be completely effective..... and where is the facility for injury?

Aleš is ready to try his shoulder during the practice and then decide whether he will be ready for the race.

Agree 100%.

Another stupid decision by the Brit authorities. The road to the SGP is already 1 year behind current form. Why are we insisting on making it 2 years behind? Can we not follow the example of other countries and hold our National qualifiers before the SGP qualy's start or leave a chance to make sensible, form related picks at the time?
