Swedish Elite League Play-offs And Play-outs

Recommended Posts

You could suggest that, Alan - www.premiersports.tv or @premiersportstv on Twitter

Personally, I think this year is a learning process and things should improve from 2012.

Dave McIntyre (@davemcintyreNT) doesnt actually work for PremierSports, as he is a full time sports journalist on "NewsTalk", an Irish version of Talksport radio in the UK.

Dave actually specialises in Gaelic sports, Hurling & Gaelic Football, and had virtually no knowledge of speedway prior to being asked by PremierSports to cover speedway for them.

I think Dave has improved quite a lot since the Swedish season started in May.

When Dave's NewsTalk commitments preclude him from covering the speedway on a Tuesday (GAA Clubs hold their press conferences on a Tuesday evening) Declan Quigley takes over, and I must admit, I find him hard to listen to (I have made PremierSports aware of this)

As the guys are sat in a Dublin TV studio, with no contact with the track where the meeting is being shown live from, I think they do a good and improving job. The fact that the studio is in Dublin obviously doesnt help with getting in someone to provide colour commentary, for example. I can't believe that there are many speedway "experts" living in the Irish Republic, and therefore, they would have to fly someone over from England, which may be prohibitive for them.

Personally, to be able to watch Swedish Speedway live on a Tuesday night at home in England on TV without the hassle of finding an internet stream watched on a PC is great, and makes the £7.99 a month subscription cost well worth it, especially as I watch the NRL Rugby League too. However, if one lives overseas, then obviously an internet stream is possibly the only viable option, Alan.

You make a very civilised defence of Premier and i would only make a couple of points. I did work in radio here in the USA so i have some knowledge of studio links. It would be the simplest thing for them to have, say, Chris Louis sitting in front of his TV screen and hooked up direct into the studio in Ireland. Video conferencing is absolutely mainstream today, and my wife and i "skype on video" when she is away. So i think the "expert assistant" could be very easily overcome. Information has never been more easily or speedily available. I preach (whilst he yawns) to my 16 year old that the only way to fact check in my (ancient ) day was to go to the library. As our friend Ghostwalker from Sweden pointed out Google or Wikipedia give you the answer, sometimes, ofttimes, whilst you are still typing it in. "Mindreaders" But the point about Vojens by Racers and Royals is well made. Broadcasting is a lot more difficult than the Tatum/Pearson knockers are aware of, but preparation is an integral part of the job. I think it is terrific that they are making available for UK viewers one of speedway's top two leagues -approve Ghostwalker ?:t::lol: but i think with just a bit of tweaking it could be so much better. And if they will sell me a subscription here in the USA i will buy one!! All the best my friend and i will contact them, so thanks for the information. Alan.

Some good interesting replies in the last few postings regarding Premier Sports. I'd love to throw in my tuppence worth too. But i feel we are hijacking and blocking this thread which is for those who want to access quick info and opinions on the end of the season in Sweden.

Just a heads up there is a thread titled 'Premier Sports' in the general section of the forum. I was going to repost the posts i made there into this one too but feel bad to do so as this thread here is titled 'Swedish Elite League Play-offs And Play-outs'! Obviously one can't help touch upon the tv coverage, i know as others have done over the season so have i. However, the side issue of Premier Sports seems to be dominating the thread now.

I'll see what happens in the near future and will post accordingly with the masses. Hell if both threads are having good opinions and thoughts tossed around i'll post in both :)

Elitserien Playout Final 1 2011-09-27

Dackarna - Västervik

Dackarna

  1. Andreas Jonsson
  2. Hans Andersen
  3. Fredrik Lindgren
  4. Jurica Pavlic R/R
  5. Rune Holta
  6. Daniel King
  7. Joel Larsson

Västervik

  1. Tomasz Jedrzejak
  2. Peter Ljung
  3. Chris Harris
  4. Nikolai Klindt
  5. Sebastian Ulamek
  6. Pontus Aspgren
  7. Rafal Okoniewski

Its time for the relegation final. The looser is this double meeting will follow Lejonen down to Allsvenskan. That is if Rospiggarna chooses to take the step up to Elitserien.

Several of Dackarna's riders showed goof form in Gorican, however its now a league meeting and the pressure on both team's riders are probably quite big.

In the series Dackarna won both meetings. At home the won with 48-41 and at Västervik they won with 46-44.

Both Tuesdays and Wednesdays meeting will be shown live on Canal+ Sport 1.

There have been allot of complaining about that Rospiggarna haven't announced their decision yet. This is despite that Rospiggarna have until Saturday in this week (October 1st) to decide.

Some speculate that they will decline while others claim that they have new sponsor on the line which would give the the funds needed for a return to Elitserien.

So we'll just have to wait and see.
