It's a fair point. People call speedway riders nice guys, loverly guys, kind guys. So what. Give me a prick of a guy who wins races and is exciting over a "nice guy" who is pants. If I want to meet "nice guys" I'll go out socialising. Frankly, most people couldn't care less about the personality or the private lives of speedway riders, we care about what we see on track.

Absolutely agree and in my post I said he's a nice guy and a trier but went on to say he hasn't done it at Plymouth and didn't want him back with Werner already signed! This is how crap writers make stories out of nothing by twisting words, Naj is good at that I have to admit!

Good luck next season Brent Werner.... will we ever see races like this again....

Aye, superb race, and a superb ride. Shame that was about the only ride that he scored any points in for us, before retiring after a hand full of meetings after averaging about 2.00.

Having watched Brent werner over the years,he could always be counted on to hold position if he made the gate, and could cover an overtake move as good as any, funny enough the races he won at Newport always seemed to be the slowest heats because he was difficult to overtake, problem only occurred when he missed the gate, just never seemed to be able to overtake anybody other than a struggling reserve in his latter years.Could be a good acquisition if he has his gating sorted out,but will probably struggle in the PL against most opposition if he is slow out of the trap.

Where do I find Plymouth's riders' 2011 averages. Not rolling ones just 2011's

Cheers BB

Can anyone help please?

Local paper mentions James Holder, Christian Hefenbrock & Ricky Ashworth..................

Ashworth, Hefenbrock & Franchetti would fit and Werner aside, that wouldn't be a bad team.

Better Cockle than Holder.

Ashworth would be superb and that would give us a tremendous top 2 although I simply can't see it happening in a million years. Hef would be a good option in my opinion despite all the injuries he's had he's on a low average which should improve, although Bowden will probably go for Smart instead.

Holder, no thanks I'd rather take a punt on a 3 point NL rider to be honest and I'd take Cockle over him also every day of the week.

I can't either, but you have to ask yourself where else is he going to go ?

Full time EL maybe?

It's just sad that because of Mr Bowden's actions of previous seasons us fans automatically rule out signing top riders when realistically we can afford to have a very competitive team at PL level. I appreciate Ricky is based in Manchester but if the right deal was on the table and Mr Bowden showed some ambition to recruit proven quality performers (Barker aside) he could well be up for it.

EL is a possibility but he apparently can't make PL pay so I would be surprised.

Sadly, I think you are right. The way I see it in Plymouth's case (almost uniquely) it is somewhat of a false economy to run with a team destined to be near the bottom of the league as I am certain that the additional cost of a winning side would be offset by an increase in gates.

I suspect that the damage has already been done, anyway. Even if Ashworth and Hefenbrock were signed, you still have Werner

Take Big Fil Sitera! Would be on around a 5 point average...

Fil on our small track! Hmm, could be worth a punt though!

He needs to learn the small tracks so would take a little while, but I'm sure he could easily score more than his average away from home...
