An above average size crowd were treated to an afternoon of FREE racing, and didn't leave the Norfolk Arena disappointed.

There was some excellent races throughout each discipline, with the Aussie trio of Daniel Winchester, Kale Ballantyne and Ethen Ballantyne in particular showing what a great talent that is waiting down under to hopefully reach these shores sooner rather than later. Sadly you won't get a further chance to see them again for a while, as they head back home, but just remember the names, because they are a little bit special.

If you've never sampled a Southern Track Riders' Meeting before, then there are still quite a few meetings remaining this season, and remember, it doesn't cost a penny to get in, sixty races FREE OF CHARGE. A 12-page programme (not racesheet) is produced for every meeting, where a £1 donation is enough to secure one.

Forthcoming fixtures are:

Sunday 7th July at King's Lynn at 12.00pm (Championship Round).

Tuesday 16th July at Ryde, Isle of Wight at 7.00pm.

Sunday 11th August at King's Lynn at 12.00pm (MAGPAS meeting & Championship Round).

Sunday 1st September at King's Lynn at 12.00pm (STR v Scunthorpe).

Sunday 29th September at Iwade, Sittingbourne (20th Anniversary Meeting) - START TIME TO BE CONFIRMED.

Sunday 6th October at Scunthorpe (Scunthorpe v STR) - START TIME TO BE CONFIRMED.

Saturday 19th October at King's Lynn at 5.00pm (4 Team Tournament).

Hope to see you at one of them......or more.

Mike,

A very comprehensive report on the proceedings so thanks for that. Looks like it was a good meeting with the Open Class field well supported albeit supplemented 3 Australian and 1 NZ rider. Some interesting events coming up in the STR Diary.

Thanks for you comments Martin.

Yes it was a good day, and at times the racing was quite exciting.

It doesn't take that long to type the results out and put them on the BSF, I just wish other people would provide a similar servicve when they attend such events. I'm sure the riders like to see the publicity they are given.

When do you ever see any Northern Junior League results published in detail, something which I'm sure both riders and supporters would appreciate....NEVER!! They just don't seem to care about anything other than the little world they are living in.

Certain details appear on Facebook, but by no means anything comprehensive, which is sad for forum users. Not everybody's lives revolve around Facebook & Twitter for varying reasons, but that's the modern world we live in unfortunately. If you've got the means or time to use it great, but if you haven't, you just get cast aside. Certainly not fair on the older generation who have played their part in keeping the sport alive year after year, but then get cast aside as attention is only focused on the younger generation.

Of course the younger people have got to be drawn into the sport, although I'm not convinced that this sort of media outlet does it, because if you're not interested in the sport in the first place, you're not going to bother to read about it, whether it be on Facebook, Twitter, Daily Mirror etc., etc anyway.

I'm not the slightest bit interested in cricket, so don't read a single word about it, no matter where it's printed.

Where on earth am I going with this, get off your pedestal Mimmo, nobody cares anyway

Lack of kip making you grumpy MM? Or that you lost your bowls match before arriving at the NA? At least you finished second in that!

Certainly was a load of good action yesterday - tad hectic at times with riders for the next programmed outing (there were 60 in all) arriving at the tapes seemingly as soon as the riders from the previous one crossed the finishing line but had to be done to get so many races into the four hours!

If you've never been to an amateur meeting before - go on, try it!

No Welsh Wonder, I'm not grumpy mate, just wish that people within the sport didn't think the world started and finished with Facebook & Twitter.

Enjoy Wolverhampton tonight.

Hope to see you at one of them......or more.

There has been an alteration to the result of Heat 5 in the Intermediate Class, which should now read as follows: 1st Rod Woodhouse 2nd Simon Pearce.

Tom Rowlett fell in the first running of that heat, and he was sunsequently allowed back into the re-run off a 15-metre handicap. It transpires that the rider is only eligible to score any points in the re-run if the incident happened on the first bend, which this didn't. Therefore, Simon Pearce who finished 3rd, has now been upgraded to 2nd, and Rowlett receives no points at all.

Therefore rider No 5 (Simon Pearce) should now be credited with 3-points in the rider scorechart, and Rider No 9 (Tom Rowlett) reduced from 14-points to 12-points, thus making Mick Skinner the outright winner of that class with 14-points.

So apologies for my original posting being incorrect, but it's a situation that none of us in the box were aware of at the time, and only came to light after the meeting.

Got to say that Andy Harrison was faster than ever

Are you saying he is too fast perhaps for the Intermediate Class and should move up to the Open???
