those cunning rule makers didnt plan for the genius that is the Witches eh!!

Pete Simmons has said that they are using 18.1.2.4 so a guest to his ave is ok, the same rule was used for Howarth against Ipswich on the 29/6

I think Lewis fits within both rules anyway

I did query that with Adam being 7th in the averages was Blackbird still allowed but nothing back. Probably same as when Barker and Lanham missing for British Final qualifiers, we were allowed a guest for both. Prehaps 1.18.2.4 "trumps" all other rules?

or by using Blackbird another team will object, his points get deducted and the Witches miss the play offs. All because the "powers at be" will not listen to the fans and especially despise the BSF so much as we are all "no nothing keyboard warriors!" :o:mad:

Remember that the SCB changes rules mid season as they see fit depending on their mood , agenda or wether it's the wrong time of the month or even if there's a full moon or not !

One hopes its all been fully checked out and sanctioned .

How comes nearly every speedway thread soon descends into an almost train spotting level of percentages and averages ?

I fear my son has got into this sport at a time where it's just about to disappear up its own exhaust pipe with an almost lemming like tendency to shoot itself in the foot as far as over complicated rules go

i know what you mean, 4 riders, 4 laps simple isn't it!? A rider can either ride or not, via the average they have. So why does it need a rulebook of 56 pages?

Because they need something in the Rule Book to cover when they BEND THEM!!!:oops:

It's embarrassing. :oops::oops:

Looks to me like the rules dont take into account the fact a number 7 (by average) could be representing GB (the ACU) thus only a NL guest should be allowed.

So why is Adam missing? Because he is riding in an FIM World Championship Meeting.

What does rule 18.1.2.4 say? When the ACU nominate an ACU licensed Rider to an FIM Speedway Championship, or is selected to ride Speedway for Team GB, GB U21, then irrespective of the Rider’s MA a choice of Guest or Rider Replacement facility is available.

So that covers the situation with Adam…it is quite straightforward, it doesn’t matter if a rider is number 1 or 7 in the averages, so long as he is ACU nominated or ACU licenced.

If he were absent for any other reason e.g. injury then rule 18.2.2 (In the Premier League

e) Absent #7: NL G* : a Rider eligible for a NL Team who has never achieved an actual PL MA of 4.00 or above) would apply.

In any case if it were a case of rule 18.2.2 applying Lewis Blackbird wouldn’t be eligible as he is in a declared PL 1-7 and the guest must be solely riding in the NL….the NL team declarations on the BSPA website indicate the riders in NL who are not eligible to guest under rule 18.2.2 and Lewis Blackbird is one of them

Always seemed to be a crap rule, as if your number 7 has a high average say over 5 your team gets weakened and penalised.

All open to interpretation and there in lies the problem.

The first rule allows a guest even when the rider is not at No1 when normally only r/r available.

But as at 7 in the averages a guest is the only option anyway so potentially irrelevant.

The second rule covers who can cover for a number 7 and the average is irrelevant.

As for Lewis not be elligible under rule 2 why? It doesnt state it has to be a rider solely riding in NL does it? Only NL qualifying and never had a PL average above 4. Lewis rides NL and has never achieved 4+ in PL.

Taken from Ipswich Witches website:

Fans Forum On Saturday Night

Thursday, 08 August 2013 08:32

Another good reason to attend the Ipswich Witches v Redcar Bears meeting on Saturday night (August 10th) is that there will be an hour long Fans Forum in the main bar afterwards. A great chance to meet and chat with all your favourite riders, get autographs and have a picture taken, etc.

Also advance notice that ex-Witch Dennis Sigalos will be visiting Foxhall on Thursday August 22nd (Ipswich v Plymouth).
