Alternative To Kevlars

Recommended Posts

Having put Speedway into Ebay it came up with this alternative that is better than either Kevlar or Leathers in my opinion!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WOMEN-039-Multi-color-Bandage-BodyconThe-Leather-Speedway-Jumpsuit-Romper-YH6019-/380979480675?&_trksid=p2056016.l4276

Last I heard was the company went t!ts up.

How has the term "Kevlars" come to be used in Speedway.

The suits are in the main cheap nylon with a bare minimum (if any) percentage of Kevlar in them.

Possibly because its easier said than "nylon racing suit". Edited by f-s-p

Yes I realize that. I was merely questioning the fact that the modern race suits, although universally referred to as such, are in no way Kevlars

As far as I am aware all suits have some Kevlar in them. I believe it has been discussed many times that it is the way Kevlar is woven into a material that makes it more or less effective rather than the percentage of Kevlar.

Certainly the suits my son has had have been up to the job and I speak as somebody who chooses to wear leathers. I do think many people don't realise that it is the undersuit that provides the majority of the protection for a rider.

But I still think that if every suit was filled like the one on Ebay crowds at Speedway would increase and we would forget any safety issues.

When my boy was having a go at speedway and sand racing we bought him some leathers, bloody lovely and good protection :-) Shame in a way that they are just hanging in the shed now, although I am glad too, u know what I mean :o
