Fenway Bleachers 2,665 Posted October 25, 2014 Forget the TR business without it this would have gone to golden heats. Cookie and Sam would have played it again Don't you think?
Rico 210 Posted October 25, 2014 Somerset scored a 8-1 & 4-4 =12 /Monarchs 6-3 X2 =12 Nah, Monarchs earned an extra 6, Somerset earned an extra 5. Ultimately that was all that separated the teams after 30 heats.

bigeddiechek 1,094 Posted October 25, 2014 I was backing your case DavyH. Didn't benefit the Capital Monarchs. Didn't stop them winning either!
DavyH 164 Posted October 25, 2014 I was backing your case DavyH. Didn't benefit the Capital Monarchs. Didn't stop them winning either! Far too pissed to be doing numbers Ed, just delighted we won after skooshing the league. good season for the bandits too, i need to make an effort and get down there next year to share a pie on bend 3

No. Edinburgh got double 3 and double 3, Somerset got double 2 and double 3. The other riders scores in the races are irrelevant in terms of 'gain' from tacticals. Careful, SCB sees this and all hell will break loose.

strife 153 Posted October 25, 2014 (edited) Or, Somerset gained an advantage of 7pts from their 2 tactical riders, Edinburgh gained an advantage of 6pts.The Jokers are simply points added to the total scored, nothing more or less. If Aspgren hadn't let Summers through the Rabbles would only have scored an extra 2 points in that heat, which proves what a farce the system is, because Summers had still beaten both opponents. The old T/S system at least required the substitute to perform better than the replaced rider - the closest equivalent you can get to a substitute in other team sports. Many congratulations to the Monarchs and even more commiserations to the Rebels. Just glad we could make a final of it. With both teams having a rider out you could argue that both teams had their destiny in their own hands but the Rebels fate did ultimately lie in the hands of their guests for Olly, no more to be said. Undoubtedly the Monarchs were by far the best team in 2014 and deserve to be champions but I wouldn't have lost any sleep if we had won. After the turmoil of the team building we haven't done too badly ourselves so we can't be too disappointed. Well done Edinburgh. See you again next year! The choice of guests and turmoil of team building was entirely down to the management. Edited October 25, 2014 by Had Enough Too
Cj69 333 Posted October 25, 2014 What a final!!! Edin looked comfy then bang in came a 1-8 and 2-4 back to back now falling into rebels hands. With monarchs looking slightly stronger in last few heats. Ht 13 starts and starts and starts again, from bend 3 looked like 1st bend bunching each time. 5-1 for cook & sam tho to get us excited again. Shared 3-3 in ht15 gives us a last heat decider.....Roll up Cookie and Sam. Correctly awarded after 2 laps thanks to Aspgren having a wee seat on track. Well done The Mighty smug Monarchs and well done rebels for another fine season and final. Same again next year??

DavyH 164 Posted October 25, 2014 Pinny, according to Mr Bowie, there's a starman, waiting in the skies, may be a bit too old lyrics for you mate!!! http://www.edinburghmonarchs.co/news/article.asp?id=1881 a great summary of the final from mike
Al Stewart 398 Posted October 25, 2014 So the joker points were the difference! Our 6 vs Somerset 5. What a joke! I think that TRs in a two leg playoff are a farce. But the only time it's unfair is when one team gets to use more TRs than the other. In this final, both teams got 2 shots at them, after that it's down to how successful they are and that's up to the riders. In this case, if you like, Justin Sedgmen's superb second bend in heat 8 to pass Morris when he was on the TR was the deciding factor. Nowt wrong with that.
Willowman 212 Posted October 25, 2014 The choice of guests and turmoil of team building was entirely down to the management. Yes, and we haven't done too bad considering. Second best only to the Monarchs.
