Swindon V Coventry - 13-08-2015

Recommended Posts

Despite this meeting needing to be run before the playoff deadline when you look at the expected heavy rain between 2 and 5 this is probably a sensible early decision.

Just need the new date asap.

Do Swindon only run on a Thursday or are they able to restage fixtures on other days?

Not many weeks left now

3/9 is currently reserved day before the return at your place so would imagine that is the most obvious date.

Cheaper that's all that matters with Horton

Is having a guest cheaper? Not sure about that. You pay for an extra rider to turn up for a start.

Can run on monday or friday, but fri could have issues with our d/u riders.

Have used my high tech weather forecast system and it is going to p down.

Coventry would be without King, Robson & possibly Garrity on the 3rd so would be silly to agree to that date (can still see it happening though)

Swindon would be at full strength

Sheffield don't have a meeting so we'd be ok that day. Robson will hopefully be gone by then! But you're right, we'd have no Danny King.

The thing is, this meeting is not anywhere near as important for us as it is for Swindon. We don't need the points, there no guarantee we'd get points even. So what is in it for us to rush to re-arranging it? Just thinking back to 2010 when Swindon screwed us over calling off a meeting weeks before the play-off cut-off but we unable to re-stage it until after the cut-off. Hopefully a bit of Karma comes into play here!

You do make a good point. We don't need the points to finish in the play offs.

Could be a bit of a nervy end for Swindon if the meeting does get rearranged for 3rd as if the meetings against Swindon on the 3rd & 4th were to get rained off, there would be no more dates to restage them before cut off date

24th is another option as Monday is the normal alternative to Thursday.

Would be a good option. Both teams should be at full strength (if no injuries) and gives more time before play offs.

Good luck to the Bees for away points. :t:

They have already had their two meetings against Wolves

They have the best away record of any team, so it's possible.

Postponement seems a bit early as having looked at the forecast it only mentions possible thunderstorms not continuous heavy rain - are Swindon hoping Coventry will be easier to beat on a slick bald track later on when it's been decided if they'll be top or second in the table? Should've been on TV then it wouldn't have happened

This is a difficult call. Locals will always prefer a later decision but people travelling any distance would rather avoid a wasted journey. We were due to travel over from Kent for the day but I decided to go into work instead, once I saw the weather!

This has got nothing to do with saving away fans a wasted trip. If they call it off early, they avoid stadium rent and can stop the foreign riders getting on a plane and thus costing them wasted travel expenses!

I am writing this at 1:50pm and still no rain!
