MattK 3,447 Posted June 5, 2016 I wonder what the Robins recent new 50% owners think about the latest news?! ...And as prominent local business people, do they have any positive influence with the Planners/developers/councillors? Depends how much they "paid" for their 50% stake in a business which I'm fairly sure makes a loss every year. Swindon's assets have got to be worth six figures.

A ORLOV 8,628 Posted June 5, 2016 (edited) Nobody even bothers to point out the absurdity of the council handing out and advice and demands on car sharing these days. What a fiasco this has turned into. At the moment the use of public transport to get from town to the stadium is a joke. There are only two buses that go past the stadium at about 6 and 6.30pm, others go near during the day, but there is no public transport from or near the stadium back into the town after the meetings. The use of buses to the stadium is not a bad idea but could be costly for the club if not many use them. They have got to be cheap and cover different parts of the town if they want to encourage car users to switch. In fact public transport could be an advantage in getting youngsters to the meetings, something they cannot do at the moment unless they either walk t the stadium or get a lift from their parents. One of the problems with the Council is their continual thoughts that people will use public transport, while the prices are high they will not. Just look at the cock ups they made with the park and ride schemes, they cost a fortune to set up and apart from very few people that now use the one at Wroughton, the other one in Cricklade Road and others proposed have been closed or cancelled. We have the same with the hospital, these same idiots in the Council wanted and claimed people would go there by public transport but they keep the bus prices high and then they wonder why people drive. In many cities throughout Europe public transport is very cheap and people use it in there thousands. Edited June 5, 2016 by A ORLOV

DunRobin 465 Posted June 5, 2016 Swindon Borough Council have always and always will be a total fiasco of a local Government only there to line there own greedy little pockets with there bullrubbish and backhanders and if im being honest i tend to now think Tomlinson is all talk , absolute joke Have always thought that. I will never forget his quick turn-around when the "new stadium" was proposed. At first he was opposed & then comes the big public protest & hey ho, election in the offing & he's now a big speedway fan. He get's elected to parliament & now we can take a run & jump. He just like the self gratifying numpties we have as a council. Grandiose ideas & little sense!

No wonder that Rossiter is a great admirer. Mind they did look good together on Tomlinsons election literature. Peas in a pod perhaps.Says a lot about Swindon fans, they cheered the motherlovin, fecking, cant when he gave a party political speech at the Shabbey. Sorry I forgot, ole Justin saved Swindon Speedway, I know that because he said so. Edited June 5, 2016 by JOS50

JOS50 150 Posted June 6, 2016 Wouldn't put my faith in Tomlinson minister for the disabled but votes to cut their money , have emailed him repeatably and get palmed off to other people Cameron gave Tomlinson the most important job he's had, yet Tomlinson will not even tell how he will vote in the EU election, so he must be for out, this being a good opportunity to show loyalty to his leader, so as for caring about speedway.....
