diamond@heart 399 Posted January 22, 2016 (edited) Sounds like a good idea hope they get the weather for it. Would have liked to get the old qualifiers back but at least this looks like a step in the right direct. Don't agree with Peterborough getting a bye into the final, they should have to get to the final on merit, not because the event is being staged at their home track and don't think them not being in the final would affect the crowd levels. Does this mean the PLRC will soon follow suit and become a two day event with the winner being decided over the two days!!! Bash 496 Posted January 22, 2016 (edited) I'm not an Edinburgh fan, but IMO they should be seeded to the final as reigning champions not Peterborough as hosts. If this is to be an annual event Peterborough will be in the final every year as they normally host the fours. Are they scared nobody will turn up on Sunday if Peterborough aren't in the final. If two riders from every losing team on the Saturday go to the individual meeting on Sunday two will be reserves, how are they going to decide this. Paulco 7,100 Posted January 22, 2016 If it's anything like last years live band forget it They were truly awful , and with the queue at the bar , you couldn't avoid them
Shadders 4,135 Posted January 22, 2016 (edited) They were truly awful , and with the queue at the bar , you couldn't avoid them Not only that, they were playing as they announced the team changes. We couldn't hear the announcements standing on the first bend Edited January 22, 2016 by Shads
screm 8,062 Posted January 22, 2016 IMO the BSPA deserve credit for re-vamping the 4`s, I would've like to have seen the return of qualifiers but maybe this is the next best thing.
maneacat 473 Posted January 22, 2016 Will be interesting to see the price as 72 races / effectively 5 meetings could be some outlay. Also has to be question marks as to how the surface will stand up to it in what could well be hot condtions. The campsite likely to be carnage too!! Yes the pricing of this is going to be interesting and the track will hopefully be able to cope unless we suffer a heatwave that weekend. But as for the campsite - really can't see that being a problem at all as the EoES regularly cater for thousands over many weekends throughout the summer months and are very experienced at organising this. New Science 1,059 Posted January 22, 2016 Seems they are following the World Cups lead of seeding the home team directly to the final. Hate it in the World Cup hate it here. 3 teams have to scrap it out to qualify while the home team get seeded, ridiculous !

Hate it in the World Cup hate it here. 3 teams have to scrap it out to qualify while the home team get seeded, ridiculous ! Just because Peterborough are the hosts, there`s no guarantee they will go on to win. I would like the Panthers to qualify the same as all the other teams, but it makes financial sense to seed the home team through.

Paul Johnson 285 Posted January 22, 2016 camping free and 30 quid for 2 days racing or 20 quid just for sunday?
Paulco 7,100 Posted January 22, 2016 2 nights in the Holiday Inn Express £200 , ouch , but it's more comfortable than camping . That's it booked now anyway .
RebelDan 203 Posted January 22, 2016 Well done to the powers that be for at least trying to do something positive - this could be a cracking weekend event if they plan it properly and get some luck with the weather. Like many, I disagree with Pboro going straight through to the final. Get there on merit - if anything it's denying the Panthers fans of seeing their team twice

Ben91 1,743 Posted January 22, 2016 Can someone explain why... " it wasn’t possible to bring back the qualifying rounds at the moment," as stated by Rob Godfrey? It's not as if they've had all winter to find a way to make it work is it...? Oh wait. It is something different granted but to say the fans have been listened to is a little patronising when the fans who wanted changes to the format were calling for regional qualifiers. If the fans are the justification for the changes being made then give them what they want.
