To say if we have more meetings there's more chance of a rainoff is just silly. Why not have no meetings so we won't have any rainoffs? We need many more meetings. Riders will not be flying in out in out as the racing should be on consecutive nights. Teams ride home every week and away the next day, or day before. 30 odd meetings is not enough. I've included that rain-off (the 'one home fixture in six weeks' bit). Not getting at anybody, just pointing out that the only reason you've had one scheduled fixture (which was rained off) in six weeks is because somebody planned it that way. They're all mercenaries (like the rest of us!) who only go to work if the money is right. Thats only 15 at home. 6 week break because of not enough meetings? .... wtf poole have ridden 5 less matches than the other teams so go figure that one out you'll now be hoping for no rain offs to get all remaining fixtures in, you now got 2 months(less than that if you consider we will have the world cup soon) to fit your 16 matches that you have left , how many a week does that work out at? poland /sweden the leagues that race once a week that everyone tends to quote have a match at home fortnightly meaning at home one week away the next works for them crouds are always good how can a home match every week work that means one away match a week aswell can fans afford two matches a week? Top riders sharing positions is fine until inevitably they are both missing as riding in the same Polish league match (planned or rearranged) during the week. Or racing in the GP qualifying or racing in the SEC or Euro Pairs etc etc etc... Eg which of your two/three GP squad riders would want to race on the Thursday before a Friday GP practice? "He's not riding so why should I?" would become a common situation I would imagine.. And is it really worth planning your whole seasons fixtures around ten or so riders, racing on nights when if you could get a crowd that night, you would surely be riding on that night now!? The sport over here as a whole, would be better off running on nights when each track feels it can generate its biggest crowd level.. If that includes 'superstars' then fine. If it doesn't then also fine.. Fans may want 'superstars' (although the crowd levels falling off a cliff in the last 20 years even though the majority of 'superstars' did race over here in this time may prove otherwise), but fans want consistent teams more, seven, six (or even five?) man teams who are available EVERY week except for when injured. THEIR riders, riding for THEIR team. Use that rationale as a starter for ten in team building and build the rest of the details on race nights, team strengths etc, around it.. The tail is wagging the dog in British Speedway. The promoters should start to take back control of THEIR part of the Sport.. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Perhaps Matt Ford's vision should be a league of: Poole A Poole B Poole C Poole D Poole E Poole F Poole G Poole H All with international superstars and squads and I am sure, all paid in full and on time. ( so the idea is to concentrate on dates that the riders that dont want to ride over can possibly ride in just in the hope that a few of them will deecide to ride here in a few matches)? that will not work also only having a set day wont work over here with our weather pretty soon you run out of weeks to run matches meaning you have to run fixtures on off days and as like now when clubs have the ludicrous situation when they have to run 3 sometimes 4 matches a week just to get the matches in , having squads goes against the promoters mentality of having either r/r because it makes the team stronger or a good guest cuz he makes us stronger (paul starke) i presume squads will put a stop to this it has to, otherwise whats the point of squads! robert lambert was missing monday from kings lynns team with a broken finger, but rode tuesday in sweden these things will happen more with squads...
