When the limit drops to 42 then any new rider coming in should be, to use your example, the 8 and not the 11.2.

Why should they be an 8? If they are an 8 it means that once the first averages are in there is an effective 15% increase in tram building limit.

To be fair the conversion should be about 1.25 atvthe stage.

Otherwise swindon for example would have been better off waiting a month and then signing Doyle.

It makes more sense if they use "proper" averages attained in April to the 40 points.

Whichever way it is done there will be issues when bringing in a rider with a 2016 average.

I doubt if most riders will have a 'proper' average by April.

Some teams will be lucky to have completed 4H & 4A by the end of May. And those that have may still have a rider or two that have not completed 4H & 4A due to injury/Poland/DU.

Then what happens?

Agree, but there will be an indication of proper, new, averages after a few meetings, the replacing of riders is something that those in charge of the team limits should have worked out as there will be changes or injuries to cover.

Take Jonas Kylmakorpi for example. At present he is around 9.7 if any team wants to sign him. Once new averages are in effect then he reverts to his actual EL average around 6.7.

A rider like David Howe who last rode in the PL has a 6.72 average. When new averages come in then a Premiership team can sign him on 4.8 while a Championship team he is still 6.72.

Averages will drop for sure but by 8 points in the Premiership is hard to fit in a new better rider but the Championship could easily fit in a rider like Howe for a rider averaging 3 in a team struggling

Why would it be hard in the Premiership? If you take away the 1.4 multiplier, teams have built to a 35ish team limit, so 42 is effectively an increase of 7 points.

Of course, across all sides the average will end up resting around 42, but plenty could be around 38/39 atvthe fit's averages. Further, could say joonas be brought in as a like for like replacement for someone averaging 7,even if the team average is above 42? Would be patently ridiculous if that was the case - a rider with an average attained in a tougher league in a much tougher format being able to be swapped in.

Are you staying facts here TNT or your assumptions?

It will be harder to bring in a better rider in the Premiership because when new averages come in the team that started around 50 Will have come down to anything from 40-45 so most changes will be like for like.

In the Championship the averages won't change a great deal so in effect they get an extra two points to play with apart from the teams that started well.

So a rider like David Howe has more chance of being ought into a Championship side on 6 72 thank a Premiership team on 4.80 unless it's at the expense of some one that is on that figure. In the Championship he could come in for a 5 point rider.

The Championship wont gain 2 points as all riders get new averages after 4 home 4 away. There are no 2016 meetings in rolling averages. So all being equal the 40 start figure will rise to ave circa 42 naturally.

W..aces1 is right there still needs to be an adjustment for 'old' top league averages to reflect the true change in building limit from circa 35/36 to the new 42 from the 1.4x inflated 50.

WOLVES CHALLENGE AGREED

Thursday March 09, 2017

THE famous name of Coventry Speedway will continue this season with a series of challenge matches planned to benefit riders who would have appeared for the club in 2017.

Arrangements are now in place for a Coventry line-up to visit Wolverhampton in a Keep Bees On Track challenge on Monday April 10.

This a date when the Bees would have raced at Monmore Green in the SGB Premiership and campaign organisers are in talks with other top-flight promoters regarding further fixtures.

These meetings are being arranged with the specific intention of assisting the riders who were left without Premiership team places on the eve of the season, having already incurred significant expenditure through their preparations and now facing a substantial loss in earnings.

The plan is for the Coventry team to match the clubs intended 2017 line-up as closely as possible, subject to availability if riders secure team places elsewhere.

Should additional riders be required, our first calls would be to riders with clear Coventry links.

In addition to the points money on offer, Wolverhampton promoter Chris Van Straaten has kindly agreed to make a significant donation from the meeting gate receipts where there will be a dedicated Coventry turnstile - into the Coventry Riders Hardship Fund, as well as the proceeds from an on-the-night collection.

These donations will be passed to the Nuneaton Speedway Supporters Club, who will also be the independent administrators of a Just Giving page planned to run for the next two months.

Proceeds from the meetings and the Just Giving page will be passed on to the riders by the NSSC with the exact distribution at the Committees discretion.

We would like to thank Chris Van Straaten for giving this idea his full support and for his great assistance with the logistics, and we are sure many Coventry fans will look forward to making the trip to Monmore on April 10.

You seem to be totally missing the point. At the start of the season Howe is 40% higher than a couple of months later. But the team building limit comes down by only 15%.

Allowing a like for like swap using old averages defeats the whole purpose of having used the 1.4 multiplier at the start of the season. You could theoretically have a team of 7 redeclared in May that would have been 58.8 for team building a month earlier.
