Trees 2,814 Posted March 15, 2017 Really ? That BP, Shell, Texaco or Esso would get a increase in 'public awareness' to be cost effective. By sponsoring the piddling sport of Speedway. As this thread shows Speedway Supporters will go and get the cheapest deal on anything. I bet most buy their fuel at Tesco, Asda and Morrisons. No amount of sponsorship would overide 1p a litre saved. No one wants to advertise on Tv in a Speedway programme. They have to give it away. It is cloud cuckoo land to even think of major companies sponsoring our sport. Regional Truck Hire that's about the pinnacle of what we can expect. And then be damned grateful. I must be in the minority then, I don't use supermarket diesel ....

Grand Central 2,654 Posted March 16, 2017 (edited) I must be in the minority then, I don't use supermarket diesel .... Even if you were in the majority. A Petrochemical giant would not make any net gain from the sponsorhip to make it worth while ? 25,000 regular attendees. ? maximum of 100,000 watching Sky; now much less on BT. It's the equivalent of Apple launching their latest iphone at events in Church Halls and taking out half-page ads in a selection of Parish Magazines Edited March 16, 2017 by Grand Central

Surely there must have been someone cold calling Companies like this?? Apparently, this seasons TV coverage has already been paid for by Sky, even though they aren't showing it, so BT not paying for it, and will only have to fund the broadcasting element of it.. British Speedway receiving "NO" monies from "BT" for this season's coverage.. What happens next season.....? Somebody should be on this now.. Me neither - not since our nearly new car broke down and the first question the recovery man asked was have we been using supermarket fuel!! Very lucky we didn't get a big repair bill apparently. TheScotsman 2,484 Posted March 16, 2017 Can't remember the details - something to do with additives I think. Think it didn't have them all or enough of them. Was causing the engine to cut out.

Very lucky we didn't get a big repair bill apparently. our garage where we take our cars to, have always told us not to use supermarket fuel, my Volvo always pinked (!!) , My freelander, it blocked the jets!! So for several years I've used shell or bp and no problems. No idea why though, as our mechanic says it's crap.
