drew2 252 Posted May 20, 2017 5 heats from tonight up on you tube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgKhh12pIzerir9hTa6OULQ Just watched a few of those, feeling sleepy now! How boring a track is Rye House? More passes in one lap at the OTA than in entire races up there it seems.

Rayleigh 362 Posted May 20, 2017 A decent win for the Rockets tonight, expecting a quagmire and got the "blue groove" instead. Overall felt it was a fair score. Kennett - Through the card, what an enigma 16 home wins this season 2 away wins this season. Robbo - glad your back seem to get better as the meeting progressed Harris - always thought this was not a great home track for the racer but heat 8 was worth suffering the cold for Wells - 6 from 3 and a tape exclusion when other riders moved first, think his partnership with Harris can be the strength of the team Nicholls - the best I have seen him, the opposite to Harris I thought this would be his type of track when he gets dialled in a hopefully that's what is happening Branford - A slower start to the season than many expected although still not a passenger, battled really hard tonight culminating in keeping Graj on a black and white in last place Perks - one of the biggest surprises in the country this season and didn't expect much tonight having rushed back from injury, deserved more as was leading one race when it was stopped and as in speedway finishes last in the re-run and fell whilst in 3rd on last lap. For Somerset, a number of hit and miss riders with Lawson probably the best. Will rue Graj not scoring on a T/S and Heeps would have hoped and could of had many more. You've come to that conclusion from watching a few heats on YouTube, or have you been to a few meetings at Rye this season to be able to give a fair assessment? westhamboy66 599 Posted May 21, 2017 Just watched a few of those, feeling sleepy now! How boring a track is Rye House? More passes in one lap at the OTA than in entire races up there it seems. Couple of things. The weather report if believed would have been wet enough to call the meeting off thus no water had been put down which obviously affected the track. So no passing at all? better wipe a few points off of Harris, Kennett Lawson Kerr etc who never passed at all. When you have visited every track in the Country then compare Rye House to others. Try watching a bit of live racing rather than you tube its actually different you know
cityrebel 2,960 Posted May 21, 2017 There was torrential rain only a few miles away. To see a meeting last night was a bonus.
Steve0 5,517 Posted May 21, 2017 Kennett - Through the card, what an enigma 16 home wins this season 2 away wins this season. That's what you get with Kennett. Has always been the same whoever he has ridden for. He is certainly not a number 1 (because you want consistency in your top rider) and is probably a third heat leader / second string. I always remember him choking in heat 14 when the team needed a win.
Shadders 4,135 Posted May 21, 2017 (edited) I always remember him choking in heat 14 when the team needed a win.Heat 15 😉 Agree, Kennett is not a top notch number 1 in this league, but with the make up of the side he's stuck there for now. Someone commented about his fitness and professionalism last night, but I wouldn't know anything about that. There's no doubt he's a small track specialist and around Rye he's the dogs bollo*ks. Most fans want to see their team win home meetings and this year (Swindon KOC apart) we've not been disappointed. To win trophies, however, you need a bit more than that. Currently I can't see anywhere we'll grab an away point, let alone a win. I suppose we've been unfortunate that teams have strengthened just before we've visited, Wolves, Somerset to name two and Swindon having a facility for the then out of form Adam Ellis helped to dump us out of the KOC. I never expected us to be title contenders, unlike some over excited Rockets fans posting on the Rye FB page, but unless we can grab something away we'll not see the play offs either. A season of consolidation is always the target I had in mind before the season and nothing I've seen so far has altered my thinking. *edit* Edward is currently averaging 10.07 from all home meetings and has won two out of the three heat 15's he's appeared in, so around Rye House he's definitely a number one. I always remember him choking in heat 14 when the team needed a win. He seems better at home than he has been for the last couple of seasons in the second tier but his away performances haven't been those of a heatleader, which he is in this league. He's averaging sub-four away from home at present, that's not good enough. An improvement in Eddie's away form may well see us do better on the road but none of our top three have covered themselves in glory on our trips away this far. Then we might end up challenging for a play-off spot. Half the league qualify after all.

Number 1 at home and number 7 away - that averages about a third heat leader / second string The heat 14s I was referring to was his time with Swindon. We invariably needed him to go out in heat 14 (his easiest heat) and win it - but he choked most of the time.
