He has a finnish dad and when I asked him about his Finnish relatives he said he has some. And the funny part is that there is a family Haarahiltunen living for the past odd amount of years next to my inlaws at Jyväskylä. Mats Järf won the finnish title today with kankkunen 2nd and matti isoaho 3rd. Isoaho was the in-form guy of the day, but missed his chance in the final. Anyway, he was one of the happiest bronze medalists I’ve ever seen!

Franky Zorn and Gunther Bauer having a poor start, whilst I understand Harald Simon had a bout of D+V yet still managed the semis both days. Seems Franky also had big problems at the border and had to spend time getting a new visa,so he can compete in Russia.Sounds like a bit of a nervous time as he was told he would have to fly back to Austria to get one and the problem was,if he did that his transporter would have been confiscated at the Kazakh border as he had to be sitting at the wheel, not his mechanic. He did though eventually get a new one at the Austrian consulate in Astana,so all is well. But he is asking is it really worth all the hassle and the FIM and MFR should assure everything goes smoothly, rather than,as Weber also said, leaving the riders to sort things themselves http://m.speedweek.com/eisspeedwaygp/news/121977/Franz-Zorn-schikaniert-Warum-tue-ich-mir-das-an.html

rusky 113 Posted February 7, 2018 Anybody watch SnowQuake on ITV4 tonight. A little piece on Ice Gladiators, and a piece on Mark Marques riding his race bike up the Hannenkahn (sp) with tyres prepared by one Frankie Zorn who makes an appearance. I’m sure it will be repeated.

Not sure, but going by the photos all the teams are present including managers, apart from Austria.Only Franky and Charly in the Austrian pic.I was wondering, since Whitey has swapped the delights of Vienna for the shall we say, less salubrious surroundings of Newcastle,i think
MARK246 243 Posted February 9, 2018 You are correct iris 123, Whitey is now residing in Newcastle. He received his visa and was set to travel to Russia. But now he has his ankle in plaster after an accident with a bicycle, so he didn't fly.

But the Russians were always going to be top. The Austrians missed Harold Simon who would of reduced the Swedes impressive second place points total. As you write, Klabo would of been amongst the points as well. But Sweden raced well and deserved their second place

Having seen Radek Hutla ride in Heerenveen last year, I can only assume he was going to be there with Lukas, so he got the nod to replace Divis
