At one stage I am sure they messed about with student discounts as well, I remember it getting messy. 2016 wasn't it? Got rid of concessions and made it cheaper for families and students. Would be interesting to know if the idea worked and encouraged more students and children to attend because it certainly upset a lot of OAP's who had supported the Bees for years. Like you say quite a lot refused to go any more but that would probably please SCB with less old people cluttering up the place with their fold up chairs. 5

Dont forget that when we removed the senior admission rate at Coventry we reduced the price of adult admission as well as allowing all children in free. It did increase overall attendance. No, as the reduction in adult admission price outweighed the increase in senior admission as there was, contary to popular opinion, always many more paying adults than seniors. Increasing income wasnt the point of the exercise though, it was to encourage parents to come and bring their children, and it succeeded in that aim.
jrs 3,290 Posted January 15, 2018 The problem with generalisations is that they are subjective. If you take all statistics and mean averages into account you will almost certainly end up with only one person whose situation exactly reflects the result of those statistics and averages. Everybody is influenced by their own personal needs and circumstances and priorities especially when it comes to leisure expenditure. To apply fairness into senior admission discounts promoters would have to apply a means test system, which rightly without doubt would infuriate people and lose even more supporters. Naturally everybody has to judge for themselves the values that they apply to the admission prices.

Glasgow seem to have gone the same way: "In 2018 Standard adult tickets have also been reduced to £17, with the removal of concession pricing. Club co-owner Gerry Facenna explains: “It’s not a decision we have taken lightly. We already have a lot of over 65’s who pay for a full price ticket as they can afford it and know the club is losing money. We’re extremely grateful to our fans, they understand the situation at the club and have the club’s best interest at heart.” " In 2018, kids under 12 go free at Glasgow Tigers! Alongside this, student prices have been reduced to £10 for those with a valid student ID card. These steps have been taken in the hope that it will encourage the next generation of speedway fans here in Glasgow and maintain the legacy of the sport for years to come. " So short term numbers don't mean too much, it's whether there is a long term increase and these freebies and reductions return as paying regulars over the next decade or longer? All other tracks seem to offer concessins in 2018 which tells you what you need to know perhaps? Edited January 15, 2018 by Crump99
The Cheese 2,024 Posted January 15, 2018 You could have a £10 price for OAPs but with additional extras such as; Fold up chair £5 Flask £1 Sandwiches - will be inspected for quality at entrance and given a rating. National League standard £1, Championship £2, Premiership £3 Cap with badges on £5 Wulfsport coat - £50 3 1

wealdstone 3,454 Posted January 15, 2018 At the time Coventry tried to justify what they had done by quoting some obscure Quango that suggested that Pensioners were better off than others.
