Teromaafan 586 Posted April 12, 2018 A track does not go from being considered suitable to race on to a state of being unfit in less than one minute, but this is essentially what the Referee has admitted to. If the crash was down to rider error alone, then the meeting would have continued. The fact that the crash (involving injuries), seems to have been a wake up call is poor. Whilst the Swindon promotion should not be exempt from some criticism regarding track preparation, the Referee should be questioned here. They can hide behind the excuse that riders were willing to race but the riders did not abandon the meeting. If you have the authority to abandon the meeting, you are surely singularly responsible for giving it the go ahead (despite pressure from other parties).
hagonshocker 1,956 Posted April 12, 2018 What a load of Ill informed s**t being spoken on here....nothing changes , the track was totally suitable to start on the pits bend looked greasy compared to the first corners but all 4 riders went into the 3rd corner at full pelt which resulted in the inevitable, despite what Hans typically says in hindsight everyone was keen for the meeting to commence so keep your bull***t opinions to yourself MattFordFan you total fanny 3

Incorrect. The referee, along with the riders deemed the track fit to ride on. Hagonshocker was a bystander.

Hans Andersen said it should never have started. Therefore he thought the track wasn't fit to ride.

Good ol’ Mystic Hans. Hans is a family man, loves his pipe and slippers and isn’t putting his neck on the block for anyone. However, could this be the same Hans that won a Grand Prix, on a track that Tom Daley would have enjoyed. How times have changed.

Obviously others riders didn't agree otherwise it wouldn't have started.
auntie doris 2,342 Posted April 12, 2018 Bad luck for Swindon and all clubs so far this season with this crap weather. Hope Vaculik is ok
New Science 1,059 Posted April 12, 2018 Another bad night to go with a wretched start to the speedway season. I wonder how much more pain British speedway can endure ?
Woz01 3,589 Posted April 12, 2018 (edited) Seen a picture and it did look misty, people there say track looked ok. With it being misty, drizzling and an ambulance in use which would mean a big delay I guess at that point there was zero chance of getting to heat 10. Rosco tweeted no one was forced to ride. I didn’t make any decision re the meeting. The referee is the sole arbiter as to whether a meeting starts so your question should be addressed to them.
