teaboy279 1,038 Posted August 1, 2020 Bit of a concern when one of our most talented young riders in Leon Flint only scores a couple of points against a field made up 2/3s unknown to me riders. Where do these other countries (outside poland) develop these youngsters to beat championship reserve level riders. Or is it simply the British tendancy to struggle on European shale and Leon would of beaten most of them on uk soil?

The standard across Europe is better than most might expect; especially when comparing to a rider who is currently a Championship reserve. Without being disrespectful to Leon Flint, I can think of half a dozen riders in the Finnish SM-liiga match I saw at Kuusankoski on Thursday who have not ridden in England (admittedly not all Under 21), who are of a comparable or better standard. LesR 139 Posted August 1, 2020 Well done Tom Brennan, not easy in Europe without experience of their tracks.

LesR 139 Posted August 2, 2020 All the more commendable and to think that Tom was only third choice after one of the selected riders turned down the opportunity to compete, who cited lack of racing in 2020. I would have thought any under 21 with aspirations would have jumped at the chance and gone out practicing in the UK as much as possible before the event. Looks like the future is looking bright for Tom.
Chris116 756 Posted August 2, 2020 It is a shame that the speedwaygb site gives Leon Flint's score as 3 in one place and 4 in another. Having checked speedway updates, he scored 3 and appears to have suffered machine problems. Well done to Tom Brennan and better fortunes in the future to Leon.
