Garry May however, is listing Ben at #2 in this week's Gladiators line-up

Never said he wasn't!

I'm not exactly feeling the love for BWD; I hope he doesn't read these Boards.

Why don't we see how it goes in the next few weeks? I think - hope - most of the Diamonds faithful will be willing him (and George) to succeed. Me in particular as I have 500 inflatable Kiwis on order...

On a different note, did anyone else think yesterday that maybe it's a pity it didn't work out with BB? Still, that's water under the bridge now.

I don't think anyone's saying get rid of them now!! I think it's just a 'oh no here we go again' moment we've had to get used to so much over the last 5 years or so... Maybe even longer for some of the older fans... Just sick of not having proper out and out number 1s in the team kinda thing... But I guess we're the lucky ones because we actually have a teamĀ

As for Ben Barker... I am a massive fan of him, Plymouth being my second home, I've seen him a lot down there... However it was plainly obvious that Ben did not want to be at Newcastle last season even before the tapes went up on the very first meeting... He tried to get out of it enough times anyway... He's VERY talented and VERY spectacular to watch, but he'll never make it as a big time rider, because he's a nutcase... Still love watching him though, particularly on small and tight tracks... Balls of steel

And if BWD does read this forum (which I highly doubt) he's not hated already and it's nothing personal against him, it's not his fault he's been given a ridiculously inflated average... However I don't think us Newcastle fans particularly appreciate giving up after 3 laps or so, so hopefully that stops by next week... Even Ludvig, who was amazing around Brough, got hate for that...

To me that's more protection of a weak number 1 than any slight on Barker. Sorry if Newcastle consider this hi-jacking of threads

Really? Cause was paid promptly with us and was absolutely rotten lol. Barker's the kind of character performs when thinks got something to prove IMO

Really? So how come your management tried to tap him up just before the transfer deadline with the promise of better gear & a place in 2022?

What's that to do with anything? IF it did even happenĀ

If he was rotten, why use him as a guest or try to sign him? "IF", was one ofĀ the reasons whyĀ Rob Grant quit before changing his mind.

He was replaced mid season because he was rotten. Simple as that..maybe go read my previous posts about Barker and when he has point to prove. Save you going over old ground againĀ :t:.

All conjecture, seen no evidence of it

I was encouraged by Sunday. To beat a pretty strong Stoke select containing a couple of BroughĀ specialists with a non contributing #1 and a brand new #7 made me hope for a decent set of home results as even if BWD and Congreve donā€™t meet their averages but do improve,Ā then I think the rest of the team will carry us over the line more often than not.

I expect a few hammerings away but that doesnā€™t tend to affect the crowds at home which is the main thing for now.

Not sure why I keep reading about Newcastle facing a "strong" Stoke side?

Steve Worrall (9.05)

James Sarjeant (4.08)

Ricky Wells (6.59)

Leon Flint (5.89)

Ben Barker (6.87)

Connor Coles (2.00)

Joe Alcock (2.00)

Total: 36.48

That team average is well below the Championship 42.00 limit.

Does makes sense for Newcastle to start off against a "weak" side to gain confidence ahead of official matches, but they'll certainly find it tougher from now on!
