Early Feb was release date for 2020 event that I had tickets for and the flu stopped me from attending. Actual event happened and had some crowds though.

Sportowefakty have published an article (Google translated) about the cost to the city/club in hosting the GP since 2010

"More than PLN 25 million - that's how much Toruń cost from 2010 to 2020 to organize the Speedway Grand Prix" - Radio PiK found out. It was added that the most expensive - in terms of the price for the rights to the tournament - was 2014, when almost PLN 3.6 million was spent on this purpose.

- It is true that large events are also high expenses, but these expenses are in a sense an investment - argues the spokeswoman for the mayor of Toruń, Aleksandra Iżycka, explaining that the city spends such huge money on the speedway tournament.

He adds that the money from the sale of tickets went to the Toruń club, which - as a co-organizer - had the mission of obtaining the appropriate income from the event. If it succeeded with a vengeance - the surplus went to the club's treasury. If not - the shortfall was covered by the club budget.

Is Torun is a good place to visit for a few days either side of the grand prix? Been to Wroclaw, Krakow & Rzeszow in the past & loved them.

Smaller old town, but very much on a par with Krakow and Wroclaw
