New track at Veenoord, Netherlands

It seems that a new speedway track is being built in Veenoord, Netherlands. What can you say about it @DutchGrasstrack?

Yes that's right. They are building a new track on the opposite of the current track. Should be in a shape like Vojens, so much rounder then the current track.

They will have a opening with practice at the first weekend of june. Dutch Championship schedules for the first weekend of july with the traditional golden helmet at the end of september.

I wouldn't model it on Vojens, if I were building it from scratch.

Only speedway. 2-3 events per year.

Part of a bigger renewal of their local sporting-complex though, but still.

I have to wonder why they would build a second track at the same venue.

I was there some years ago & it was a great track for the 500cc sidecars at the time.

The current track is gone, and now replaced by a concrete/asphalt surface. This will be used as a skeeler track, or speed-skating in the winter (if it freezes lol).
