TV coverage

Suprised that no one else has commented on the 3 week gap in Eurosport Premiership coverage. There are 3 meetings next Monday for example. No doubt someone will come up with an explanation.

With the vastly superior coverage that we get on BSN it is not really missed.

People have queried it.

I believe the explanation is simply that Eurosport is contracted to show a certain number of matches, plus the playoffs- and they have done so

It is if you don’t have BSN (can’t justify the cost) but do have a TV subscription that includes Eurosport.

It’s sadly a quite half-assed approach if so. Not showing any meetings until a couple of months into the season and then reaching the allotted number and clocking off until the play-offs by the sounds of it.

In direct conflict to what I said above, if the TV deal was to be cancelled and BSN took all of the meetings (thus also building a comprehensive library of archive footage over the years) it would then be well worth it to subscribe, particularly if they offered a full video on demand service of past meetings.

The play offs have, of course been delayed, so there wasn't scheduled to be such a gap.

It seems the TV coverage has gone downhill since it stopped showing on Sky Sports. Another positive thing those in charge ballsed up!

Sky didnt want to pay for speedway due to the declining viewing figures. The only other broadcaster intereted picked up the rights. The positive those in charge did was keep a broadcast TV deal going. And whatever you think about the quality of their product they are doing their best to promote the sport to other motorcycle sport fans so its not all doom and gloom.

They are contracted to cover 18 meetings, which include the British Final, the 4 Play off Semis, and the Play Off Final ie 12 League fixtures. The original deadline for fixtures to be completed was August 31st, however this was extended a few weeks ago (presumably well after Eurosport's League schedule was planned), due to rain offs causing a fixture backlog. This is exactly the same deal that BT Sport had.

Yet another excellent BSN production tonight from Peterborough.
They do really make you feel as if you are trackside rather than the Eurosport coverage which often has all the earthy realism of an episode TOWIE.

Justice seems to be served that BSN get such a nail biting Premiership match with the final play off place hanging in the balance until the last heat.
