Looked good and fast. But then everyone does when they are on there own. His style is like bewleys but more boring if you know what I mean. Fricke looked best. Looked very fast2 points

The sadness for me is that none of this - having something to sell to Poland and having such an amazing racetrack - would have been possible had David Gordon and Chris Morton hadn’t put their lives on hold for 10 years to ensure that the NSS became a reality. One day, perhaps, their hard graft will be properly recognised and true Belle Vue people will take it over again.2 points

Unfortunately Peter has not been well either. To correct one thing there is that I am the TM but will also be the co-promoter ...and I do know what is going on behind the scenes . There is daily contact between the key people involved with Birmingham Speedway .....and Lee Kilby gave more updates than just about sponsorship . The meeting went well and those fans there went away happy at what had been discussed and what they heard.2 points

As you say why would you choose Brady over dudek if dudek was ready to come .no disrespect to Brady2 points

My first memory of Vaclav, was seeing him take on the concrete safety wall at Romford, and win!. A real tough rider who entertained us with his all action style. RIP Vaclav.2 points

Interesting new rule. 15.8.1 If the Referee stops a heat, following an incident or accident, where the rider causing the stoppage and his team partner were in third and fourth place and a re-run is called with one of those riders excluded, the Referee has the sole discretion to order that the remaining team partner will start on a 15 metre handicap in gate position c or d (the opposing team does not change positions). I guess this is an effort to stop riders staying down to get a rerun & gain an extra chance in the rerun.2 points

Musielak has a suit for his first meeting. Only time we didn’t have team suits for riders is when we had guests. I really don’t see the issue. Even championship/NL sides have them.1 point

No not yet - I check daily- it surely will be announced soon.1 point

Agree. When you see the team written down like that it looks strong all over. As ever, the success or lack of will depend on keeping everyone fit and having a bit more luck than we had last year! If we can, then we stand as good a chance as any of winnng the title IMO. Genuinely wouldn’t swap our septet for any other.1 point

Both Scottish promotions have come up with an interesting way to try and get big crowd for both legs of Scottish Cup. Glasgow fans can buy tickets for the Edinburgh leg from the Glasgow promotion and Glasgow get the money and vice versa. See this benefitting Glasgow as more Tigers fans likely to go to armadale than monarchs fans to Ashfield1 point

It might be in his club contract, that club matches always take priority... and rightly so!1 point

Google translation:- Our disloyal customer fan base that turned their back on us during the last two years when we were getting tubbed think we have a team capable of winning the league. Did you get to use any of the assets during the period of the Frost/Fraud axis? If you did, and I suspect there a number of riders that would fall in to that equation, then surely no loan fee would have been applicable. Conversely, if an asset was loaned to another team would the Pirates not have benefited? That's probably a little more than 'not a single penny'?1 point

Vaclav had some great years with Exeter and with Autrey they had some very good sides a massive home advantage at the scary County Ground but it took some b...s. to ride there week in week out.Exeter over the years had a great association with Czech riders i.e.) Holub, Verner, (Vac and Jan,) Dryml,Kudrna,Svab jnr) i loved my visits to Exeter.1 point

The simple plain fact is, if you disagree with the basic premise that a race is more exciting when part of a large crowd than when not then there really is little point in having any further discussion. This post of yours further amplifies that as despite much input from many posters you still don't seem to understand what the discussion was even about. Nobody has said the sport of speedway hasn't declined in the UK. That's a figment of your imagination. What has been said is the racing itself hasn't declined anywhere near as much, if at all. I have presented my argument in a clear, concise fashion, with full reasoning and examples. Even posters whom normally are on the opposite side to me such as Steve Roberts, Moxey, Tsunami etc found no fault. Only yourself and StokePotter who seem to have lived in this utopia where every race was fantastic in years gone by have piped up, but unlike myself have not provided one iota of evidence to back it up, nor any reasoning to question my argument. So here's your chance, provide me with your reasoned opinion as to why you disagree that a race is more exciting when part of a big crowd as opposed to a small one.1 point

We all know how ruthless M F is when it comes to choosing who rides for his Poole team. If as you say "He has a 100K deal sorted for Dudek. I promise it’s not money." Then why would he choose a none GP rider, over the world No 2 who would put more bums on seats for his No 1 rider.1 point

There is now a concession price for the 2018 season for OAPs and students at £10.1 point

I think the bottom line is that the fans just didn't take to NL racing and stayed at home. Not much incentive when Lakeside's bottom three were probably the worst bottom three in the league and were just a waste of space. Then when Zak got injured and Alfie was seconded to Newcastle most of the time there wasn't a lot left to get excited about.1 point

Have Stadia UK screwed up or is this all part of their stalling tactics? If planning permission is refused, this allows Stadia UK to dramatically throw their hands in the air and proclaim "we tried our best". If permission does get granted, what's the betting development gets tied up in "legal wranglings" between Stadia UK and the housing developers.1 point

Fans won’t support individuals if they keep watering them down into little more than unofficial practice sessions. it doesn’t have to be 16 amazing riders, just a mix of 16 riders with ideally a few from other clubs, it’s not as much fun just watching your riders race each other, we want to see our riders race other teams riders, full competitive racing.1 point

Atmosphere makes so much difference to the overall experience Thats why some of us in the back straight stand at Foxhall got together and made a very conscious effort to make some noise - horns, bells, whistles, megaphones allsorts. It has grown and spread to other parts of the stadium and has made a noticeable difference It has also helped to reconnect the riders with the fans which itself has built on that difference to create something approaching a real buzz which had been missing for sometime1 point

That one boils down to riders staying down, hoping to seek an advantage in a re-run after his team mate was in third.1 point

Team suits all day long for me Not having them now would be a big backward step Cost is a red herring too - each suit is the equivalent of a routine service for an engine1 point

IF it is Lakeside that owe the money, they should be forced to clear their debts before they are allowed to run in 2018. Its disgusting ...1 point

Exactly. I personally think Nahlins stance is the correct one, if owed money for more than a week or two they should refuse to ride.1 point

You can add Newcastle to that list as well. He helped others like local lad Mike Watkin, and a lot of the riders we signed had the same nationality or were friends of Ivan. Still very fond of Newcastle and every time he came into the country he made a beeline to visit our track, and just used to appear without being announced, have a chat with the Kiwis and disappear before the end of the meeting, and go and see a local family that he was associated with from his time with us. Having a Geordie mechanic, Gordon Stobbs, I asked him if he could get Ivan to come along to my training school on the Sunday afternoon. He had about 4 other events to go to, but sure enough halfway through our session in walked Ivan, and he proceeded to give a lesson in riding and how to train a rider. Never forgot his roots and the young riders, including Liam Carr, will always remember being tutored by Ivan. Pictures of Ivan and the young riders are on the Newcastle Training group Facebook account.1 point

Yes i remember Hennys 21 point maximum. In fact i have the leathers he wore in the meeting. I was a regular at the shay from 1967 until the ham brothers took over(1981ish . I used to help Dougie Adams (set up the pa play records) and have so many memories from the shay. Some fantastic racing and great charicters riders and referees and of course Dougie. I remember lots of incidents and the riders who took exception to a reffereeing decsion and climbed the dreaded ladder to vent there anger (Jimmy Mcmillan) for one. i remember Kenny Carter when he broke his jaw watching a meeting from the box he was the king. My personal favorite referee was John Rhodes. He was a big bloke with a personality to match. He once excluded Ole Olsen under the two minute rule when Ole tried to get some extra time for one of his team mates by siting on his bike outside the pit gates. On came the red lights on went the white and yellow and black exclustion lights. Olsen was quickly on the phone to protest he was ready to race and only waiting for his partner. John was haveing none of it the crowd where insensed pure theatre. The time when Kenny was rideing for England V Denmark and Erik Gundersun made the gate and pinned KC to the white line on bend 2 only for KC to take one hand off the handle bars and hit Erik on the shoulder that got him a good ticking off from John Whittaker. I could go on all night. Does anyone remember Mick Newtons bike setting alight at the tapes when Ivan Mauger was Lieing up for a second half race.Never seen Ivan leave in such a hurry. But i think Henny apart my personal duke was Mick Mckeon. That bloke had a heart has big has a lion. The crash at the Old Belle Vue when he and Mike Lohmann both recived very nasty injuries was the worst crash i ever saw. I remember Micks last meeting at the shay on completeing his race got a Halifax scarf from someone in the crowd and did a lap appaulding the fans. I was in tears. Great memories. So sad its lost forever.1 point
