At this stage the team name is not important.....The survival of speedway in Essex is......4 points

Not according to the Stars info in their bumper pre season preview which states Friday In this instance for BSPA read the idiot Godfrey. He’s only now trotting this out to make himself look and feel better.4 points

This wasn't a bad decision. Unbelievable would be a more accurate description.4 points

There's no doubt in mind the call off is genuine and having seen the picture of the track its the right decision. At the end of the day calling this match off would be the last thing the Plymouth promotion would have wanted. The cut off is about 3 weeks away and with them just outside the playoffs a call off is the last thing they need. Also like any club they lose money for having to call meetings off, this meeting would have had a good crowd for sure esp with it being the last friday in August. Just one of them things.3 points

Never seen George’s comments of a few seasons ago so can’t comment on that but you have just said in your own words the Barker/Aarnio incident was “similar” to Richie’s so you must agree it was Barkers fault as you must also know some Redcar fans were that enraged about it they were saying they wished “Richie had been killed”3 points

Is anybody bothered ? Scunthorpe have still won, so it doesn't matter how anybody got to Bordeaux etc. Speedway rules in general are a complete farce. Every promotor is in it for there own club. Until an independent regime take it over then you will always get twists and turns with each rule. This season has been a joke from day one with only one set of fixtures instead of two which has always worked at our level. We are now going into September with some teams nowhere near completing their fixtures ,the early season shield semi finals have not been rode and now we've got supporters worrying about r/r in a meaningless fixture ???? well done to Scunthorpe on the 3 points ,at least we will have another trophy to polish this winter even though it may only be at wooden spoon.. Let's hope the bspa can put things right and give us a full fixture list next season. As a footnote it will be interesting to see how much promotors have SAVED this season after their wise decision.2 points

It wouldn't suprise me to see two bigger leagues next year and the NL dumped. It's not really a training league anymore, and some of the teams would be better off running SDL level of racing. The likes of Mildenhall and Kent should be staging a higher level of speedway with their crowd levels.2 points

Not a bad idea, although the London Lions flopped at Hackney in 1996. Also, I wonder if Rye House is too far from London for it to work. Obviously, it's Lakeside Hammers for this season, but beyond that using the 'Lakeside' name seems largely pointless, especially since it's not even the traditional name for Arena Essex. It's just a shopping centre that flagged to people where the Arena Essex Raceway was actually based. Maybe Rye House Hammers does make most sense. It's a link to London it itself, since it's the old West Ham name. Plus it trips nicely off the tongue.2 points

Hammers? don't think so! They had better drop the claret and blue body colours too, Hoddesdon is Tottenham country, they wont go for anything that reminds them of WHU. Lesson one, know your fan base, it wont be the same as you have had before.2 points

No question in my view - nor, indeed, in anyone around me. The white exclusion light was greeted with disbelief by Redcar and Newcastle fans alike. The way I saw it, Barker went hard under Aarnio, lost control for a moment causing him to straighten and as a result T boned him. Boz hits it bang on for me in his description of Barker's move, although I do not accept that hitting Aarnio was deliberate. This is what Redcar have to say : 'The Bears man made a move up the inside and appeared to make contact with Aarnio'. Newcastle's George English was a little less subtle : "It looked like we were in control early on until that moment when Tero was brought down and the referee disqualified him! Unbelievable decision,' Ps Nice to see my fame has spread I probably won't be back until next season, but say Hi if/when I am.2 points

Funny we were stood right behind you on Thursday and when the incident happened my wife said that will be Ben out of the rerun, I said not necessarily Ben had the inside line and was slightly in front of Aarnio who appeared to me to turn into Ben and came off worse. This was later confirmed by the referee, so you see there are always two points of view. Wish Aarnio a swift recovery2 points

12 (TWELVE) league matches from March to September and they have to hold a second double header against the same team. must have been busy with KO Cup matches as they have reached the semi finals having got through ONE round already.2 points

Wow your 56 according to your profile, and your still calling ppl a wally, me thinks it's time you grew up!!!!2 points

Heaven only knows. Absolutely no question that Barker lost control and T boned Aarnio into the fence. Given how obvious it was, probably one of the worst decisions I have ever seen.2 points

I think real speedway supporters see tonight for what it was. A match going one way, then a situation that changed the entire tide of the meeting. Normally in any sport these things are called turning points, sadly for the sport of speedway tonight, with the exception of a very few Redcar fans who appeared to cheer the event, that turning point was a blatant attempt to knock off a rider well in control of the race. As a team who have defied all sceptics this season and really stood tall it’s a shame to end the night without a point, but the thing that makes speedway great is it’s love for proper racing, true racing, and the diamonds stood tall tonight. The only thing left to say about Redcar speedway is, congratulations....... you had 6 riders riding tonight who rode fair, but sadly it took a B.B. intervention to kickstart the team, but kickstart they did. The fact they were rejuvenated isn’t the problem, it’s the 1 rider who continues to jeopardise riders safety daily that’s the issue. Well done Ben barker!2 points

I thought Kurtz might step up this year. I think he had around the 3rd or 4th highest average at the start of the season, without checking 8.04 rings a bell, i was wrong. But at 21 and on a low 6.80 ish average he would be a bargain next season. Starting as the 3rd highest average in a team would be ideal, no pressure as he don't seem to handle it yet. I'd have him at Lynn next season on a 6.80.. Before I get bombarded with the Pirate brigade, I know he will be at Wimborne Rd in 2019.2 points

He /she is right though....as you said yourself on a different thread when Armadale is prepared grippy it is an extremely difficult track for away riders to score points on. Has as much home advantage as any track in the country, the results over the years refelect that. Not sure why you take such great offence from that being stated.1 point
-
I fear you may be right. I think the chances of a new track opening anywhere in the country are slim. The demand for any piece of land in the South East for housing, makes it virtually impossible.1 point

Surely the main aim should be to merge Rye House and Lakeside into one club? no good using the Rye House name , this could actually be the makings of a really good club if done properly. With Jon Cook involved though, people would be right to have concerns.1 point

Maybe he should... But only a fool would agree to dates that would mean riding without your full team of riders. but please don't let reality get in the way of responsibility... When Matt Ford instigated having Wednesdays as one of the fixed race night, he knew the 2nd divisions teams would consolidate his suggestion that allowed Poole to retain their normal race night. What a pity he didn't think more about the sport, rather than his own personal situation. As soon as the FRN were assigned to Mondays and Wednesdays, it was a decision that meant the days when the Danes rode in our league were numbered. Signing 3 Danish riders, Kings Lynn were always going to suffer the consequences of these clashing dates. coupled to that the 6 cancelled meetings, that we have suffered, plus the Rye House withdrawal, you understand the inevitable problems with the fixtures...1 point

Yes- he said last night that his hand is getter better by the day- however he has had a touch of illness over the last few days.1 point

But if that is his 21st meeting just rode you will have to drop his 1st meeting from that tally. So if the first meeting he scored 4 from 4 then his average would still be 6.80.1 point

that's probably the most sensible thing to have happened in speedway for about 25 yrs, I feel for the rye fans but they've local riders in the lakeside team and I think they will get belting crowds at hoddesdon of a Saturday night1 point

cant think that would bother Campton to be honest as he either been 40 yards behind him or stopped with bike trouble1 point
-
His engines will remain under powered unless the club give him a engine better suited to bigger tracks, I don't think it is anything else as he is riding well in the championship and he isn't going to invest more money into his equipment for the play offs especially as I doubt he will be at Poole next season. It is up to Matt Ford to help him if we want to win.1 point

I am not certain that today`s rearranged Czestochowa v Grudziadz is live on TV as N Sport are showing a live Handball or basketball match. Edit now 99% sure it`s not on live which is a shame- and we will have to make do with Daugavpils v Lublin which should be a cracker !1 point

I'm a big Barker fan, and he would be one of my first riders signed for next season but he looked, from my angle, to ride into the side of Aarnio. No idea where the ref was looking at the time mind!1 point
-
I'd go with the present 7 but I think the reserves programmed rides should only be against each other with a start from each gate position. If there is to be any doubling up then it should only be with NL riders and get them some more track time against riders of a similar standard so as to not undermine their confidence.1 point

Most teams I've seen this year already do, so does 6 mean 5 in reality.1 point

R/R for Shanes is an absolute joke 1 the meeting is on Saturday 2 Practice is on Saturday at 14.30pm local 3 meeting starts at 20.15pm local 4 Morizes is 44 miles only from Bordeaux airport 5 It is against the rules that any facility is given apart from race day- i quote " k) is on FIM Longtrack Championship duty (for the day of the Meeting only; no facility is permitted for practice day)" It is somewhat ironic that they are racing Scunthorpe who have history in being allowed illegal guests for riders doing longtrack. Edit 6.55am Birmingham arr 10.00 am bordeaux Flybe Saturday 1st September1 point

Maybe when riders sign a contract to ride for a club it should stipulate what dates they must be available to ride. Say for instance it's one big league next year and it has 16 teams. BSPA decide now that the final will be held at Buxton on September 8th 2019. If you cannot be available on that date then you don't get a licence if you're a rider who needs a visa you don't get a visa.1 point

WARSAW and Prague (probably). Personally, would drop either Malilla or Hallstavik (lack of Swedish riders) and have an early SGP at the NSS in Manchester. British fans are generally more supportive of the riders whatever their nationality and the gap from say May to September wouldn't detract from Cardiff. It might even help.1 point
