If it's happening on Twitter can't you sort it out on there, why is it being dragged into this thread?4 points

I don't imagine that the developers are unaware of the presence of the speedway and will be prepared to undertake noise testing if the City Council believe that it is necessary. However, the speedway club have full planning permission subject to conditions which have all been complied with, has established a very good rapport with the Perry Barr Councillors, and there have been no complaints about noise made to either the Council, the local councillors or to the speedway promotion for the last five or six years. The stadium is sited on two of Birmingham's busiest roads, the A34 Walsall Road, and Aldridge Road which both have very high levels of traffic throughout the day. During the planning application process, extensive noise testing was conducted by the council (at the speedway promotion's expense!) and which they (the Council) were satisfied with (albeit after the introduction of the new silencers) the Environmental Services officer stating that it "met all three of their criteria." (We were never told what these criteria were). The University declined to send an observer to these tests preferring to conduct their own testing, and were caught red-handed doing this with their microphone sited on the pavement outside the stadium! As an experiment, we then conducted another test whilst a speedway match was in progress, with our microphones placed outside the closest entrance door of the University (as they wouldn't allow us inside!). We then repeated the test from the same spot at 2pm on the following afternoon and found that the latter test produced a noise level almost 10db higher than that of the previous evening. We made known this result to the Council and although it was never acknowledged by them, we think it was probably a major factor in us eventually getting a full planning consent. I agree though, that it is quite likely that sooner or later, the issue of noise will be raised but I am personally reasonably confident that this will not become a major problem especially since the City Council have gone on record as expressing a preference that Perry Barr should be retained as a Greyhound Racing venue at the expense of Hall Green "because it also stages speedway and other sporting events." This comment was made during the debate on whether or not a planning consent should be granted for demolishing Hall Green Stadium two years ago, and is shown in writing on the planning committee records.4 points

So you are ok with your club being associated, directly or indirectly, with a person who puts on social media about people drowning being acceptable? Because they are ‘a good sponsor’?2 points

Such is the shock still permeating witches fans I fear. It's evident because, we are not even speculating on a team, such is our lack of confidence in premier league speedway. I'm sure Chris will put together a decent team, whether it will compete with the ones already announced, we will see come April. The likelihood of Cameron being back doesn't inspire confidence either after his poor 2018 season, but I think we could really do with another signing announcement of some sort fairly soon.2 points

It's amazing how blinkered the sycophants are on here. The issues at King's Lynn and Speedway as a whole are very real. The 2019 season is a $#!+ or bust year for Buster. King's Lynn just offer the bare minimum in the Speedway experience. Pay your money, play abysmal music at volume 11, deliver poor racing. Then go home. Apart from the Play-Off Semi, which meeting had any atmosphere of real excitement?? The press releases are appalling with comments consisting of absolute lies. In this off season, King's Lynn has been none existent while pretty much every other club has been loud and proud at least once every couple of weeks. King's Lynn is run badly, and this Brundle fella who was brought in to improve all aspects of commercial side seems to be just picking up extra pocket money without really delivering. From him, I was expecting something along the lines of Glasgow and Isle Of Wight in promoting the club, but no. For promoting Speedway, King's Lynn is one of the worst up and down the country for the whole Speedway experience. That is a fact2 points

Irrespective of how much you do for the club, whether it is sponsorship or in kind, with the exception of track staff. The way to support the club is pay at the gate. While the meeting is on nobody expect riders, mechanics, team managers, promoters ???? and track staff should be in the pits area.2 points

Think it’s called narcissism. Actually it’s like spitting in the food that the majority are enjoying. As somebody who enjoys going to every meeting at lynn I find it insulting and it paints a bad picture of a sport that has imperfections but is still pretty good. It’s a consumer mentality rather than a fan mentality. And customers although wrong are told they are always right. On a forum like this. Although having gone to many more meetings as the guys that run the sport down, our ramblings are treated as equal even though they probably shouldn’t be and people always gravitate to negativity. Lynn is a good place to be. Room for improvement but I’m sure the negative posters own lives are very much room for improvement, like my own is too. I miss the days pre social media when the moaning was done in the terraces like it should be. This whole same faces sh*tting on every is sure getting old2 points

You pretty much say the same thing every season. The Theresa May thing is a bad example. The cabinet are her management team, and like in most things whether you like it or not she will let her fans/supporters know last, and she probably has about 5,000,000 such fans. The press and media etc will always know whats going on before the fans do that's there job.2 points

Oh dear we have touched a nerve!! Lizzie Arnold clearly has more recognition and a higher public profile than Woffenden.....I'm not saying that's right or wrong. It's just the way it is. The fact that over 60 quizzers in Spain had never heard of, or recognise the world speedway champion, is slamming indictment of the sport. Add to the list Steve mentioned we have Stuart Smith Junior, Billy Wood, Callum Smith, Charlie Edwards, Josh Warrington etc etc....and I'm sure there are plenty of others who deserve a mention. However the BBC has to produce 2 hours of entertainment, and providing a list of names, no matter how worthy, of people that few have heard of isn't going to cut it!2 points

If you don’t go Webbo does this mean you will be lost to the Forum ? As in it must be difficult to comment on something you haven’t actually seen. If so thanks for your input and enjoy what ever it is you will replace Speedway with.2 points

Yes , lets look what happened , we started well off the pace, Niels was never there, Rose gave up and Andersen struggled to compete. When the injuries to Andersen and Kerr came we were anchored to the lower regions of the league. It was only the introduction of Riss and MPT that propelled us to the height of league winners. Yes, in that final we were hit by injuries. but we were let down by everyone else, The Managers, the Referee, the BSPA, the rule makers, the guest riders, they all compered to make the final a joke. 53 yrs I had waited for that moment only for it to be turned into a charade. The belief in this sport, I had cherished for all those years was finally destroyed that night... When that integrity goes there is nothing else that matters.... As in all previous, I attended every meeting last year. I did so, knowing the supporters were of little importance to the club, and were usually treated like Mushrooms. Could you ever imagine Theresa May announcing to the media a big decision before letting her Cabinet know, but that what happened to the Stars speedway this week. Of course, all and sundry should know about the acquisition of Robert Lambert , but I feel the fans should have been the first to know . like the olden days when the riders were introduced at a supporters meeting. It was nothing more than I expected from such a secret society.... I'm pleased I feel the way I do. To all those who still go. I wish you all well, but a lot of changes will have to be made before I go again.....2 points

Haza, with you not going to Saddlebow and not having a good word to say about Speedway, let alone Lynn Stars. Sorry, but to me it begs the question why waste ink ( old school here) posting ? Just humour me and explain what it is you are trying to achieve ? Speedway frustrates the hell out of me and I ain’t afraid to release that frustration on here, but I still go when I can. Sorry for the speeling . (Sorry couldn’t resist). Happy New Year to one and all. Yes, even Shovvy down at Poole.2 points

Not all of us!!!! speedway is an ENTERTAINMENT and the sport has forgot that.Would i be happy if we won everyweek but every meeting was total dross no i wouldn't.When someone is paying 18 pound for essentially 15 minutes entertainment they want to enjoy there night and go away feeling good. There has to be winners/ losers of course but the entertainment aspect is certainly my first priority.2 points

I thought you are a fan of the cars and take almost every opportunity to put modern speedway or Tai Woffinden down even though you readily admit to having little interest in the sport and won’t attend!!!Strange that1 point

Completely agree though sometimes the clubs that do that are their own worst enemies. As soon as BMR took over at Rye when Len Silver was more or less hounded out by the supporters. I was castigated at the time for being unhappy. But why on earth would a club like Rye House move out of the division where they had a reasonable amount of success to a league offering fewer meetings and moving from a weekend race night to midweek. Yes they were lured there by TV exposure for their brand but completely disregarded their fans base and the negativity shown over Wednesday night racing. The demise of Rye House was down to the Owners guiding the club not the BSPA1 point

The point you make about the team changes following the injuries and retirement is a good one as the upturn in form did coincide with the changes but they worked rather quite well, but you still criticise, I can’t imagine (well I can) what moans you would have had if the enforced changes hadn’t been a success! (I would class finishing 6pts clear at the top of the league table a success) The only way you would be happy about the announcement of signings would be if Buster knocked on your door and told you weeks before “all and sundry” who are all fans or potential fans.1 point

I will go with Sheffield Somerset Eastbourne Leicester Dark Horses Redcar As people have mentioned at Sheffield we have Drew Kemp on a 2 point average, whereas in truth but for one meeting he is really a 4.5 rider, on top of that we have Kasper Andersen on a assessed 5.20 average whereas he is maybe one or two meetings away from been a 6 point rider., both Andersen and Kemp are false averages and gives a more than potential 3,5 advantage over the other teams. Eastbourne might have decent reserves at home, but with American Broc Nichol either starting or moving quickly down to reserve we have a rider that can adapt very quickly to a small technical track as he is used to riding those types of tracks in the States, he proved that last season when he cope more than adequately at Lakeside.1 point

No it doesn't, it's completely irrelevant again, it's simply a representation of which sports get given press attention and which don't. If you were to follow that line of thinking people like Lizzy Yarnold would never get a mention in events such as this. There is also no component in 'personality' of being recognised by the public at large.. you've concocted that from somewhere! Not that the 'personality' part is in any way a 'key' word even when it is applied correctly as their 'personality' has zero influence.. indeed with many sports stars we have little idea of their actual personality. I am assuming that you have made this post as a reason why it is justified not mentioning Woffinden.. yet it actually is the argument why he should be mentioned. Quite simply, British World Champions, in whatever sport it is should be mentioned and given credit for their achievements.1 point

I recall prior to the start of last season he criticised the team and was “ put together on the cheap”......look what happened, the most successful team KL have ever had in the top flight.......perhaps after attending for years he was slightly annoyed in missing out ! It’s a shame he missed out on witnessing Erik Riss as he was pure entertainment, hopefully another signing that will be announced before the start of the season, be it by the SS, EDP, The Sun, News at Ten or he club.....it does not matter !1 point

As I said if what Lynn did in 2018 wasn't enough for him to attend, he might as well give up1 point

Three rider from that period I would like to see interviews with are Malcom Ballard, Conny Samuelsson and Hasse Holmqvist.1 point

If Lambert (the leagues best rider bar an ex world champ and British No1) isnt an inspirational signing them Im not sure what is.....1 point

Your team topped the table for the first time ever?? Was unlucky in the play offs due to late injuries. Lynn's best season in the top flight for 50 years.. How many meetings did yo attend at the AFA in 2018? How much better than 2018 do they have to be in 2019 for you to pay to watch them .. Your choice how you spend your money and we are all have an opinion.1 point

I don't think webbo was meaning the results as such, more the quality of racing, general entertainment and presentation wasn't that good. The club did mess up at the end with the insistence of using Ellis which backfired spectacularly.1 point

Well you lot are so negative with your glass half full no wonder speedway in in such a mess - the sport can definitely do without this kind of support though wait there is no fans left .And oh yes we only want the ones that can spell proper like lol lol lol1 point
-
So from starting the season as a lot of people thought we would struggle, we came from bottom of the league, only to finish top by 6 points I think? How could of it "been so much better"? and "we messed up when it mattered" We exceeded all expectations and was hit with injuries to a reserve in form and NKI at the last minute. Someone's glass isn't even half empty, it's got a hole in the bottom... Happy New year1 point

NBJ is a good rider maybe Matt feels he is better value?.Also in the past maybe he has took chances financially he now feels those chances are to dangerous in this climate.I actually applaud what he is doing because he hopefully will ensure that Poole speedway goes on for years to come. Not all fans are fickle we do not all expect to WIN we go mainly because we want to see good racing and be entertained the sport has got away from that for years now.1 point

Obviously Ledwith is the teams mature rider but the average age of the other 6 riders is under 17, should be an exciting season.1 point

My predictions for 2020 are 1) Everyone will still hate the Glasgow promotion for trying to run the club professionally 2) The same tadgers will still be on here with their "well known sources" talking crap.1 point

Quite how you would fund this list of riders I do not understand? They would hugely improve the league - yes. But the money is not there to pay them what they would likely demand to ride in the UK. Unless we can double the average crowd level across the UK ( at least ). ten or twenty Big Pocket Sponsors?1 point

No team is going to pay any large fee for a rider that might do a Woffinden in a season or two.1 point
