  1. I would love to know why the international committee do not consider this an official meeting and why the BSPA and SCB are not protesting very loudly. If they can't get things changed for next season the answer is to drop any competition that is not recognised and expand the number of fixtures in the league and tell the international committee to stick that in their pipes and smoke it.

  2. No they havnt actually - it’s been bubbling under the surface since the winter shenanigans - it’s just there are more fans voicing their frustrations now. You have a solid team and are very fortunate to still have your original promoter - if we had the same I feel things would be different.

  4. This is OTT However, IF The Promotion had come out and told the truth, they would have a far more conciliatory hearing and understanding from supporters of Birmingham and other Clubs. This made up baloney is the issue, not the postponement itself.

  7. Honestly Being a "Tad" misogynistic there mind JJ aren't we? As this is predominantly a male run sport why are they not behaving "like a silly man"? and I appreciate the post was started by a female which is beside the point as a woman can behave like a silly man? can't they? May be if there were a few more women in the sport at the top end (management committee) (or as promoters) it may be run more professionally rather than "like a select little boys club" as it appears to be being run at present; as believe me there are just as many "Silly Men" out there as there are "Silly Women" if not more!!! Sheffield and Somerset for two have women promoters (formally Workington as well) who have more common sense and integrity than many of their male counterparts doing the same role that is for sure... Whoever starts a post male or female if they believe they have a valid point, question or query how ever daft you may feel it is we surely need to respect? defend? their right to put over that question not deride them? Regards THJ

  8. The truth is always the right way and we have been fed a load of bull. If you are happy to call the truth boring then that's up to you. As a lifelong Brummie supporter and regular home and away I am not happy with being fobbed off, I prefer the truth, and I will make my feelings known to the Promotion in a polite but firm manner when I get the chance.

  9. As per usual you are spouting tripe. Robert Lambert is having a tough time in all leagues at the moment and needs our support, not people like you accusing him of a lack of application. The lad is riding his backside off for little reward at the moment, it’s happened to every sportsman who ever lived at one time or another.

  10. I was appalled to learn of some disgusting behaviour of a group of speedway photographers against a 17yr old kid. At Glasgow we have a young man learning his trade and producing some fantastic stuff. He has been subject to an appalling bullying campaign by jealous photographers who are subjecting him to a hate campaign. They were recently busted by someone who screen shotted their WhatsApp group. The guys in question are the Leicester photographer, the Edinburgh photographer and 2 from Belle Vue. I appalled to say that 2 from Glasgow are also involved. i understand that this is being investigated by the BSPA. Personally I will no longer be purchasing any pictures from these guys until I see a public apology. i suggest you do too.

  11. Hence why I’m lapping it up Sorry if I’m annoying others but the amount of crap I get from him and then that Lisa pipes up ..... I’m just giving it back Waiting for one Poole fan to congratulate us but no instead it’s excuses and poor ones at that Belle Vue fans all congratulated Poole on the comeback the other day seems Poole fans have no humility

  12. You must remember Gavan, guests always make Poole weaker, but guests for the opposition against Poole always make the opposition stronger.according to Shovlar that is

  14. I wouldn`t think he will miss any more meetings for Birmingham - he was probably committed to this fixture in Denmark whereas future priority is for Birmingham. They wouldn`t have signed him if he couldn`t do the fixtures.

  15. With Bailey quitting I hope Scunny have the sense to put Kinsley at 7 so he had the rides against Somerset's reserves. I fear Lawlor will fail to score against any opposition and gifting Rowe and Atkins points by facing Lawlor could hand Somerset victory. If not then I hope Dave Peet has the sense to swap Kinsley and Lawlor heat by heat.

  16. Read wide, I’ve criticised the sport and it’s organisation often. And having watched the sport live since I was a child I can confirm that even back in the golden years of the sport there were dull from the gate racing then too. It’s only those that live in the past that believe every race and match had stunning racing but of course that’s simply not true. if you want to know how often I attend take a look at the updates site over the years that will confirm your question. speedway in its purest form is as every bit as exciting now as it was back in ‘the day’. i also volunteer my services as a Marshall to my local track. I hope that answers your question.

  17. Given the service his family have given to speedway, it is very sad. Especially so if (as the opening post suggests) Glasgow-based snappers are involved, as their club has benefitted greatly from the family involvement for years.

  18. There may be others I haven't seen but I know that Craig Cook is being very supportive of Taylor on Twitter and Instagram. Good to see and typical of Craig. Those photographers involved in the disgusting behaviour should be ashamed of themselves. It says a lot about them and about the quality of Taylor's work if they're jealous of the competition.

  19. He’s a nice kid. Always pleasant when I see him. If these other photographers are jealous of him and his work perhaps they need to give it up. They have accused him of not originating his own work saying it’s his fathers! They’ve developed their own hashtag on twitter #amow (all my own work) as a bitchy dig at the kid. These ‘men’ by the way are 50+ years old! Times change and move on - Speedway Photographry has too and it’s about the youth. The old guys need to go off and do something else if they can’t hack it. I just hope this bullying doesn’t have any adverse effects on the boy. As a pensioner myself I love to see youth prosper and wish him all the best.

  20. That’s a good idea- my question would be do Gorzow and Zielona Gora like each other. Do Torun and Grudziadz like each other lol

  21. Not sure I agree with this statement? I think it's the promoters using common sense and not wasting money by putting on an expensive farce ? (No fans turning up due to a very weakened team) If they were thinking of quitting, then why make 2 (positive)team changes so early in the season?

  22. We won't be able to get through the door soon. That carpet will be nearer the celing than the floor!

  23. This has all the hallmarks of a promotion losing money and looking to quit. Had this with my team in 2018.

  24. Guys, you’re peeing in the wind if you think the SCB are going to do anything at all about this. They publicly issued a statement that they were going to make a full investigation into the failure of Mildenhall to get a team for the season ending final league match at Eastbourne last year, which resulted in a call off 24 hrs before the event and caused a fair bit of annoyance to fans, it being the last meeting of the season. Have we had any report on their “full investigation” ? No. I no longer have any faith in the statements from the speedway authorities.

  25. Yeah Lindgren struggled from the back clocking up 10+ home averages whilst missing the gate in half his races. You couldn't have chosen a worse example.

  26. I was going through some of my programmes and speedway stars god how good was Ivan from 1969/72.?? for me they were his peak years. I went through all of Ivan's maximums and paid maximums in that period ( BL fixtures only) and the stats are unbelievable.I think Ove, Briggo, Ole all had oustanding records but if i hazarded a guess Hans Nielsen would come the closest to Ivan for maximums in his peak Oxford racing years.IVAN'S stats B.L fixtures only. ) 1969- 21.maximums- 3- paid. 1970- 17.maximums- 2-paid. 1971- 17.maximums-3-paid. 1972- 16.maximums-4paid. We all know what a great rider Ivan was i just wish i had of seen him at Hyde Rd in this period but luckily i got to see him ride quite alot LEGEND.

  32. Unless of course they've also signed him so when he isn't there they can pick and choose from virtually the whole of the league who to guest for them.... Anyhow, any news from the site how the 'leccy' is? i would imagine they have been working 24/7 to fix it..

  36. He got booed at the abbey Steve on a regular basis but i am sure the great man took it as a compliment and took it in his stride.Looking back to that 1970 season, a miracle happened at Wimbledon Ivan had two 5.1s against him by the Hedge/ Tebby and Moore/Maidment partnerships unheard of.Also my recollection of Ivan riding for Exeter was he was awesome for them to at that time you could see he had took the sport to a more professional level. He turned up with a superb van, gleaming leathers and immaculate aquipment so proud that i see him ride a real pleasure.

  37. Absolute sporting legend!! I will never ever forget his time up at Newcastle racing in a Diamonds race jacket. His battles against Ivor Brown and Charlie Monk were momentous and always full of drama putting it mildly. He really was a true star in every sense of the word. The only time we ever got faintly worried about him would be the pre race announcement (.....and Mauger's coming out on the track spare) which did happen from time to time even though he was absolutely meticulous about his bikes!

  38. These scenarios are bein create by the riders just using and abusing any clubs that they can get a meeting from.GB is low on their priority. Its not the riders fault but the failure of BSpA to address the rider problems being created.Any rider that can’t commit to GB fixtures should be told where to go IMO.Every season SAME PROBLEMS.

  39. I totally agree. He must be doing something right if he’s scaring them! I do hope the promoters at Leicester, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Belle Vue take action here. Bullying cannot be tolerated in our sport in any level.

  40. Watched that interview and what a contrast with my Club Birmingham, we did after all both come up from NL, and from my NL days I think similar crowds around 600 - 700. Our crowds have gone down I feel, Eastbourne's based on Cooks comments have near doubled - why?? how?? and what has transformed one Club not the other?? Everything Eastbourne have done since Cook and Jordan took over is upbeat, positive and backed by some commercial flair it seems. They have "had a go" Everything Birmingham have done seems to be half hearted, half baked and "make do". We definitely miss Lee Kilby not being full time on our Commercial side. "we are stagnating" You tend to get out of anything what you put in and fair play to Eastbourne, I can only hope that the Masons find someone to do the Commercial side at Birmingham in a similar style to Eastbourne, a bit of effort goes a long way

  41. Because back in the day world final start numbers were pre allocated for the semi final stage ie continental final, inter CF so that riders knew for instance that the Icf winner would ride at 6 runner-up 12 (made up to illistrate the point)

  42. That’s not the case. Neither Peterborough nor Mildenhall were ‘killed’ by Mick, and Coventry only ended under his ownership following the loss of Brandon which led to the unsuccessful season at Leicester.

  46. You seem to be keen to give the impression that Edinburgh will cancel second halves for no reason, if they are in a bad mood or maybe just to annoy you. This is not correct. There were three NJL matches on the original fixture list this season none of which has taken place. These are: 19/4 Newcastle. The lighting had failed but much more importantly, a spectator had been taken seriously ill with an ambulance being called. The gentleman was in hospital for quite a while thereafter. Such an incident is usually accepted as a regrettable but valid reason for a postponement. 26/4 Ashfield. The whole meeting rained off. 3/5 Berwick. Match not programmed due to unavailability of riders. You might also be referring to 14/9/2018 when there was an intended match v Berwick after the senior teams had met. And yes, Edinburgh ‘got beat.’ I can’t remember the exact details but I think the senior match started about an hour late in very wet conditions. Several of the senior riders were unhappy that their match went ahead. I’m sure that both the conditions and the Edinburgh curfew were relevant. I realise this isn’t what the thread was meant to be about but there is so much ill-informed comment.

  48. On arriving Monday evening to a local derby with Ipswich I was surprised how empty the Car Park was and even more shocked to not see any queues at the turnstiles - that’s what I usually judge it on as sitting in the grandstand makes it difficult to tell.
