It was in response to SS saying that Worrall had an air splint on his leg. I hope it was a precaution, and not broken. People have gas n air for pain, but it don't mean it's a serious injury. I mean women have it for child birth. They are in pain, but nothing serious6 points

Yes i can see this being close Poole struggling to win matches at the moment particularly at home While Belle Vue cant stop winning matches particularly away from the NSS Riders like Josh and Klindt are badly out of form and need to up their game While for Belle Vue the form of Berge , Wells and Bewley away from home have been dynamite and Lidsey flew at Poole last time On paper can only see an easy Belle Vue win....but when these Pirates have their backs to the wall they tend to produce the goods.4 points

The meeting being held on the Isle of White is exactly how I'd want all Clubs run. Standard engines, draw lots, stick in your own rolling chassis. Should of been introduced at the very start of Club Speedway...we then wouldn't have the farce of riders supplying their own engines to ride for a Club. And I should imagine a lot less expenditure on tuning. I personally couldn't give a stuff who has the best set up and fastest engine...I don't pay money to see that. I want four riders on equal machines, where their track craft and skill is more important. I can't get my head around why riders wouldn't want it like this anyway.4 points

Latest from Sam Norris We are pleased to say after a very stressful and hectic day Sam is now in Addenbrookes. I flew with Sam with Scotstar who got us safely to Cambridge airport, Chris travelled by train. We would like to thank all the staff at Glasgow Royal children's hospital who cared for Sam and making it possible for him to be well enough to be transferred. They were absolutely outstanding and made us both feel a part of Sam's treatment, so thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you also to Ronald McDonald accommodation for giving us somewhere to stay and for our lovely chats. Now we begin Sam's ride to recovery. Claire and ChrisThank you also to Peter Facenna for providing accommodation for the days we didnt have other and Jim McGregor for his support.3 points

Fallen out of love with a poor product, but will continue to support the local lad, in the hope he achieves his dreams. In your head it will make no sense that I support Berwick Rangers and Berwick Rugby Club, but I don't go. Or are you saying I should not sponsor Leon, if I don't attend speedway. If that is the case tough titty, I am proud of what he has achieved3 points

The track was excellent tonight. Smooth and a lot of dirt. Will take a few weeks to bed in properly and form racing lines. But no bumps and no dust until the last two races. Doubt there would have been any dust had the meeting completed on schedule.2 points

I expect it’s because he is offered a team spot at Lynn on a temporary basis, why would he turn it down? People whinging about him is like putting a pub darts player into the Premier League as the competition is one short against some of the best players in the world and then complaining that pub player isn’t winning matches. Its pretty clear that Simon was signed to get Cook into the team and will then be replaced once the averages change again. If we’d been winning away matches I suspect nobody would be saying much about his away scores but because others haven’t ridden to the standards of last season SLambert gets it in the neck when in reality he is unlikely to beat any other reserves away from Lynn anyway as they are better riders.2 points

It says an awful lot about the Isle of Wight promotion that they have landed this meeting and not one of the bigger clubs. What is more remarkable is that they were approached by Polish Speedway, not the other way around.2 points

I guess it's inbred, as it's always been that way. Everyday thinking how to make the bike faster... Shame...probably down to the fact that Speedway has pretty much always been an Individual and Club sport. The two don't mix well imo. Would love Speedway in this country to buck the trend and go down the route suggested. One big league, engines sealed and supplied. Lots at meeting. Stick in rolling chassis...then go racing. No averages...wages not points per ride etc. Don't care if all the big riders leave. Would rather have a lower level and new riders develop under a new system. Surely there would be riders that would be happy to ride as Club riders on a wage, and forget about Individual events? No expensive engine tuning...just rolling chassis, keep fit and focus on track craft....2 points

Yep! There appeared to be a mis-understanding from team manager about when interval was being held so neither Redcar rider were ready when 2 mins put on. Ulrich just made it but Charles although got through out gate wasn’t ready in time. Not sure why he wasn’t put off 15 meters and then reserve smith excluded under 2 mins as well. Cost Redcar a potential 5-1 for sure Overall a pretty good meeting track was as slick as i’d ever seen at OTA / didn’t stop decent racing - Schlein and Covatti excellent for Rebels Rowe improved since last time I saw him in April Wright excellent for the Bears, MPT very good in first 3 rides, Stewart and Ostergaard both had a good and poor rides. Smith one excellent ride and a nasty tumble (appeared okay) Presentation a lot better tonight - except choice of music we were treated too Bucks Fizz & Venga Boys!!!!2 points

Just looked on the Wroclaw website and their next match is against Gorzow. The best seats are 25ZL which is just over £5. Standing is 10ZL so just over £2. I've got good seats in the Main stand for the GP in August and were 149ZL so just about £21.2 points

Have a look at this: THE NICE CHALLENGE COMES TO THE UK WITH STANDARD TWO VALVE 500cc SPEEDWAY ENGINES. One of Polish Speedway’s most innovative challenges is coming to the Isle of Wight in a UK first when the NICE Challenge arrives on July 11th. The event, which uses uniform two valve 500 cc Jawa laydown engines fitted into the riders own frames, is sure to attract a lot of attention at a time when there seems to be much discussion for reducing engine and running costs within the sport. The NICE Challenge on the Isle of Wight is the first of several European events in 2019 to be backed by the international NICE organisation whose main business is based around home automation systems such as sliding gates and smart home products and who have been generous sponsors within league speedway in Poland for several years. The UK event will see twelve riders draw lots and select a standard engine that must then be fitted into their frame. The engines are being brought from Poland especially for the event so there will be total equality for each competitor. Riders will have a short practice on their nominated engine and then it is on with the racing which is expected to take the form of a twelve heat individual event followed by semi-finals and final. Wightlink Warriors Co-Promoter Barry Bishop who travelled to Gdansk to secure the meeting said, “Martin and I are absolutely delighted to be able to bring this innovative speedway meeting to the UK. In Poland, it is building momentum and I am sure there will be a lot of interest in the UK too. I am even more proud that we are able to start a relationship with NICE Polska SP to bring this to UK fans. There has been so much talk about engines, tuning, slowing speedway, and so on, well now fans will have the chance to see 12 riders on standard engines battle around the Smallbrook circuit to show and utilise their skill versa their engine tuning to win the NICE Challenge. This meeting is a major result for all the hard work everyone has put in on the Island over the last few years and this meeting shows our little club is watched throughout the speedway world. I hope that fans from across the UK will come and see this thrilling version of speedway and that it will be the big success it should be in action, attendance and identifying potential new ways in which our sport could move forward. Once again, the Island's speedway club has brought something fabulous to the Isle of Wight, and Smallbrook Stadium, and we should all be very proud.” Mr. Wojciech Jankowski of NICE Polska SP said, “Last year at the end of the season, following the success of Nice Cup series for the youngest riders on standard engines, we decided to organize a meeting for seniors at the Moto Arena in Torun. The meeting was an official end of Mariusz Puszakowski’s career (a Torun star rider). It was a great day with a lot fun during the engines ballot, searching for the right set-ups and because of engine standardisation not focusing on technological advances. The meeting was won by Antonio Lindback, in front of Krzysztof Buczkowski and Krzysztof Jabłoński in a great final. Due to the great interest in this format, we are organizing a couple of meetings in Europe in this new formula. The Isle of Wight round is going to be the first round of the new series. We are supplying the riders with standard engines, DeliTire tyres and Silkolene oil. Those riders who make the podium will be rewarded with products from Nice portfolio (gate operators, smart home systems, etc.).” The Secretary of The Polish Speedway Commission, GKSZ, and supervisor of the NICE Challenge Mr Marek Wojaczek added, “What is speedway about? To me it’s close racing, elbows, overtakings, skill and balance on the turns. It is not speed or best times. However, in today’s sport the technical regulations have created a situation in which the tuning of the engines is a vital factor for success in the sport. Therefore, a few years ago Mirek Dudek of PROMEX proposed another approach to the sport: standard two valve engines. Riders who compete on similar equipment need to prove their skills, choose sprockets properly and operate the throttle smartly. Such engines were produced by JAWA and since 2017 meetings in the formula have been organized under the NICE CUP brand. The engines are 500 cc, 2 valves, not tuned and are as similar to each other as possible. Riders draw a ballot for one of the engines before the meeting, put into their own frame, practise and race in the meeting. The characteristics of the engine makes riding easier; races are close and only the skills of riders decide the results. We believe this formula should help riders to prove their skills in competition and not rely on engine power alone.” The meeting will take place on Thursday July 11th at Smallbrook Stadium at Ryde on the Isle of Wight with admission from 5.30 pm ahead the first race 7.00pm.2 points

Masked swearing in one post, followed by personal abuse in the next. On a night when Poole are getting some positive feedback re the track, shame that some of the usual Poole followers seem to have only one mode of reply. Hope the overnight updates of the injuries are positive aswell.1 point

You can see this going whichever way Poole want it to. If they winning at heat 10 they will stop Best wishes to the injured riders1 point

No getting away from the fact that whatever the result tonight it is meaningless in the scheme of things and riders health is far more important. Really this should be called off I doubt there would be any ill feeling from any fan here if that call was made. Still waiting for ambulance to return.1 point

Bowser just been going around. Looks like we have just lost two riders, Covatti and Worrall. Both tripping over each other trying to pass Berge. Trip to hospital by look of it. Interval being taken.1 point

The reason Wright didn't make the 2 mins was because he was wanting to change his tyre as, due to the track conditions, his was wrecked . Smith was still repairing his bike after being taken off and the ref would not give any extra time to either rider for repairs despite Wright having two on the trot. Apparently it got heated in the pits with the ref as he eventually allowed riders ( from both teams ) to use ' spare worn ' tyres as track conditions had worn out most edges. He only did this after heat 12 and excluding Wright hence him not going off 15 m as he wasn't allowed to replace his tyre. Track doctoring at its best? Somerset will claim their tactics on track prep worked as they won but not a great spectacle. By the way, the ref has no say on intervals, that's down to the home management.1 point

Pity Worky closed after that magnificent treble. Used to love the speedway, especially the Fours, when I lived up there 2004/5, Stoney, Steady, Wrighty, etc., Mystic Mel, Gromet the Comet, some real characters at DP. But with hundreds losing interest since then couldn't afford to keep running.1 point

What I would like to know is after 20 years riding in the UK how many set-ups do you have to have regarding the weather.Surely he has had all the situations by now.1 point

I've had the pleasure of watching both James and Charles plenty of times at Somerset. On their day, both of them could be absolutely brilliant. We signed James mid way through a season after he was released by Workington (I think) and he was fantastic. He scored double figures most weeks at home and was a real racer. This is when the OTA was a superb track and James would often fly round the boards passing people for fun. He started the next season for us in the same year we had Vissing and Jesper Monberg come in. He became so frustrating though - He would go out and beat the opposition no.1 and then crawl round at the back in his next race in heat 14 behind some hopeless reserve. As said above, he could be so good and yet so frustrating/bad all within a few minutes of eachother. Charles Wright was superb from the moment we signed him. He'd been scoring hatfuls for Buxton and then to some peoples annoyance signed him to replace Stefan Nielsen. Wrighty nearly won us the league that year and became the best rider to ever watch in my opnion at the OTA after that. Somerset is a worse place without him.1 point

You asked the question of 1. What it would feel like to win the "TREBLE"? at which I replied. You did not state at what level. As to the meeting, guests are sorted, weather sorted, track will be sorted for entertaining racing. Have fun travelling as some need to.1 point

If we had a rider capable of being a number one then Ashley wouldn't be under pressure. He's a safe, solid rider, a Wolves man through and through. After his injury at King's Lynn and subsequent comeback he should not be under the spotlight. He's the type of rider that's made the Wolves a team to follow. I've followed the Wolves since the 60's and I follow the team - the Wolf pack. It was a good enough seven on paper at the start of the season. Get behind them and watch 'em win away. Just wish it was a home match every Monday and a damn site more teams than seven..... and No Doubling Up1 point

I’ve never rated berge, always seemed to have a poor attitude to me on his Foxhall visits over the past few seasons - makes the start in one race and looks a word beater, misses the start and gives up in all the others! Couldn’t understand so many people on the forum raving about him being a potential trump card and people putting him in their team predictions/hopes at many different clubs during the winter1 point

Correct; most of the track is still visible too, with cars parked on the first and second bends the last time I was there, but the terracing extended on the other bends covering a lot of the track. Always a great venue to see football at; never got home from there sober.1 point

I would just like to thank the Plymouth Speedway family for the generous bucket collection last night for injured rider Sam Norris. Everyone dug deep and raised just under £300,it will be topped up to £350 by the Plymouth Speedway riders fund. I will be contacting Sam's family to send the money to them. Thank you for your support. Stuart Kellie, Plymouth Speedway.1 point
