Once upon a time the bottom half of the series automatically went into the challenge. As others have said if you exclude GP riders you risk weakening the field for the series. I too would like to see some fresh faces in the GPs but if they can’t beat the old guard in the qualifying events then perhaps they aren’t ready or good enough to get there.7 points

I don't think there is anything wrong with the sgp qualifying system. Just because Zagar and NKI aren't winning SGPs they are in my opinion still in the top 16 in the world.6 points
-
You're spot on.. point is, even at this stage of their careers, both Zagar and Iversen are capable of winning a GP.4 points

You're totally right, what a nonsense speedway is. It should be like football where the top 8 sides in the World Cup are seeded to the next event.. All the others aren't allowed to qualify as they had their chance. Speedway fans... I despair at times.4 points

Craig's adventure to qualify for the GPs is over. I wonder how much his injury has affected him plus the Eastbourne stushie. However he did win one race beating Vaculik, Fricke and Pavlic. He also beat Iversen, Lambert and Bellego. Some good scalps seeing as Iversen and Fricke both qualified. On the other hand he must have got the set up wrong in his first race as he finished last with Chris Harris even beating him for 3rd. So a good effort from our captain.4 points

Whoever is in the series it's almost certain there will be 2/3/4 riders who are adrift over the course of the season and don't really look like having a chance of winning a GP. I agree that it would be nice to see some new faces but if the likes of Zagar and Iversen qualify then they deserve to be there. Would be different if they were being given a wildcard year after year but if they are proving themselves as the best of the rest in these meetings then fair enough.3 points

By the same token,Should Bjerre ,Harris and Cook be allowed to enter again they have been there before and would add nothing to the GPS if they qualify.Imo everybody has the right to try and qualify again and if the do fair play to them3 points

Most of the stadiums that also have Stock Car racing already have the loops under the track for the transponders with each formula having strick rules where the transponder must be mounted. As an example F2 Stock Car results from Mildenhall last night are on the Speedhive siteso you can see exactly who passed who and when in each race. Each driver has their own transponder and is responsible for ensuring it is working. I am sure Speedway riders could easily do exactly the same.2 points

As we have said, the old World Final system was never designed to showcase the best 16 riders in the world; the GP system is. There will always be the odd exception, but you can't argue with what we have. Who cares how old someone is, or how boring you may think his style is? If he earns the right to compete, then good luck to him! Iversen and Zagar both continually prove that they are good enough to be in the GP series...2 points

The top 4 in the GP challenge were the 4 riders who are currently in the GP's (yes i know Fricke was a reserve) seems to show nobody is yet ready to step up2 points

If every sport needed to be profit making in order to continue existing then there would little to no sport about now and that includes the Worlds most popular sport - football! - Look at the current plight of 3rd tier clubs Bolton Wanderers and Bury as well as one of the biggest football clubs on the planet Manchester Uniteds ongoing debt. Indeed without many modern day football stadiums being multi use venues, football would be even more unviable! The universally more acceptable athletics has never been profitable! I do feel that certain things should go above profit making and money for the best interests of society. Stadiums should be included in this. Iconic speedway stadiums like Belle Vue, Exeter, Norwich, Southampton, Wimbledon, West Ham, the old Leicester, Coventry, Cradley, Oxford and probably quite a few others should have been listed and prevented from being turned into housing estates. Had indeed been the case then the sport today would undoubtedly be in a better shape. Football gets afforded this allowance cause of its popularity and local communities all over benefit from it. and Like I've said before on here, Odsal could be staging football, speedway and stock cars if ways could be found to make the venue more multi use?2 points

What I struggle to understand is why people complain about the current format, qualifying system etc. Because quite simply if it comes to 4 riders on a track accumulating points the best will always be at the top. There’s been many different scoring systems in the GPs since 1995 and to my knowledge it’s yet to make someone who wasn’t the best riders be at the top of the score charts come the end of the season. As for the qualifying I’m not sure how anyone can complain. Everyone is given a equal opportunity to qualify. Sometimes it throws a few surprises. Last night the top 4 were no real shock but that is sport and whether you like them or not they are the riders who earned it by right. The last 2 GPS have been two of the best there’s ever been so the personnel is fine. The main issue right now is staging GPs in venues worthy of such a competition.2 points

Cant believe the thought process on here of some people Iversen and Zagar on their day capable of winning a gp They got through on merit. Aspgren would have made it maybe but for engine failure. If he had he would have deserved it, but would he have been better in the series then Zagar or Iversen? Doubtful Smolinski as well was close and Loktaev........would they enhance it? Unlikely At the end of the day the other riders had every chance and were not good enough its simple really Seem to remember the clamour for Lindgren to be dropped out a few years back and look at him now Wasnt long ago people wanted Milik and Lebedevs.......how they have seen their careers go in decline2 points

Would normally wish for Poole to get a good hiding but in the context of Play Off qualification an away win would be ideal.2 points

He brought the house down when beating Briggo??? Stan is what speedway was all about a great team man.2 points

Only Robert knows how fit, or otherwise he is. However looking at his scores last night he ended the meeting with a win. Many people seem to think riders, after a long lay off can throw their leg back over a bike and just pick up where they left off. It’s takes a few races/meetings to get back to where you were. Only have to look at Wuffy. Long lay off and just finding his way back. Lets give Robert the time and space he needs to ride himself back to full match fitness. To be honest, if he rides Monday then I’m not expecting to much from him.2 points

I'll be travelling to this. I have full belief in the Panthers to win this, and string a run of results together, to make the top 4.2 points

Just seen this event is taking place next Saturday. The text on Facebook reads ‘Come and celebrate 90 years of Exeter Falcons with your favourite Falcons rider past and Present. Tickets are £10 and can be purchased from the Royal Oak, Plymouth Gladiators track shop or any Exeter Falcons Development League meeting. The day/evening will include an auction of speedway memorabilia, private speedway collectors displays, buffet, disco, interviews and much more.’ The attached flyer should also help. Hope this is well supported and everyone has a great day.1 point

There are ... everyone will pay £30 to get in for the first meeting. They will be able to leave after the first meeting and get part of the £30 refunded - sorry to be vague but I've forgotten exactly how much the refund is (as you can imagine there are a lot more variables than normal with rain-off tickets of different face value etc. Will check and post the exact figure as I wouldn't want to get it wrong and cause confusion on the night. The turnstiles will also reopen in the compulsory 20 minutes between meetings and anyone just wanting to watch the Glasgow meeting can for £17/£13 concessions.1 point

It really is chalk and cheese when compared to the Mickey Mouse Sport we have over here isn't it? Superb entertainment and real pressure on the riders to perform.. No wonder tens of thousands go an watch it..1 point

But is it in the 'interests of British Speedway''? I love the way Speedway over here always throws that little caveat in at the end.. Basically, "We do have rules. It's just that we might not always want to implement them"1 point

But we do know. We just had a meeting. Iversen and Zagar beat them. The level of intelligence on this forum just gets worse and worse.. One minute folk are moaning riders don't qualify.. then they moan when they do.1 point

Made the trip to Gorican. Superb stadium, the best speedway specific stadium Ive been to outside of Torun or Wroclaw. The presentation was absolutely great it really is a very nice set up. Took us just shy of an hour to get back to Zagreb after the meeting. I’d much rather see GPs held there than some of the current venues. Not that I want him in the GPs but have to feel tremendously sorry for Smolenski. Woulda been on at least 10 if it wasn’t for the flag mans error. Also was absolutely choked for poor Pontus Aspgren. Had his easiest ride of the night and was set to win the meeting and an engine failure put paid to that. sport can be very cruel.1 point

I believe it was a deal done between Poole and Somerset in order to assist the Rebels in achieving their minimum asset base back in 2017/18?! I'll stand corrected if I'm wrong1 point

Down in Kent visiting relatives and popped over, so glad i did as this was possibly best meeting i've seen all year and for any neutral the semi final KOC between these 2 is a must i'd say. Best I've seen track there in a long time, no dust, even watering nice dirt line and enough passing for 3 meetings anywhere. Great atmosphere, all very friendly and Redcar most impressive the way they attacked the track and Eastbourne heat leaders and Newman outstanding.Anothrt big crowd too at Eastbourne 4th time i've been this season and looked over 1000 there again. I can't work out who'd take a mental advantage as Bears made a few errors mainly in midst of outstanding fast paced racing and Eagles fielding an NL reserve (Marson) for Bowtell may have a lot more up their sleeves as Edwards could easily have doubled his score but for machine issues. A shame this is not going to be KOC Final as surely either side will muller Newcastle in Final. Charles Wright a canny little dig at Craig Cook on the Parade, seemed to enjoy himself and a proper British Champion.1 point

Yes it all about opinions Sadly some folks glass is always half empty but that is what Brits are like I really enjoyed the meeting1 point

Still better than the rest though.! A lot of riders crumble under pressure at challenge over the years. Its not Zagar and Iversens fault if the can’t beat them.1 point

Let's just take the broken down van for example. When did it break down? Couldn't they hire a van? Couldn't the club get a van to him? This is supposed to be a pro sport, does that seem professional? Can you imagine say Hamiltons cat breaking down on the day of a race, oh okay Lewis, don't worry, we will use someone else. I used to love speedway, now I'm seriously starting to hate it., and my attendance is becoming less and less The sport in this country is so un professionall, its pathetic1 point
