  1. Is it perfectly acceptable in today’s society? I can’t remember having a referendum on this If it is perfectly acceptable in today’s society then why cannot you type such words on this (and other) forums without it being removed/altered/modified? Do you think if someone went for a job as a checkout operator in a supermarket and used such words at the interview they would get the job? Your HONEST answer to that simple question will tell you whether such language is perfectly acceptable in today’s society. Consider this, it was only about 3 years ago that foul language was often used in interviews by speedway riders (not the interviewer) at the Speedway GPs. Apologise for foul language were frequently given to viewers after the interviews, which indicate such language was NOT perfectly acceptable to the broadcasting company. Further, have you not noticed that now very rarely do you hear a speedway rider using foul language when being interviewed, even after an emotionally charged race. Why is this? More then likely the broadcasting company has said “look guys, foul language is not perfectly acceptable in today’s society, it has to stop, and stop now, or your interviews will NOT take place. Now go and have a chat with your sponsors and see what they think about what you just been told before you make a decision”. I can’t think of another sport that regularly appears on TV (MotGP, football, rugby, boxing etc), where contestants use foul language on such a regular basis (if at all) as was happening in speedway interviews a few years back, and at the highest level. Maybe, just maybe, the perceived acceptability of such foul language in sport could lead to viewers thinking “that’s not a sport I wish to take my family to, its more a foul mouthed yob sport”. Re Tai’s book. I bought it (on line version), read every page, my view is (and I have expressed this before on this forum), it is an “ok” read, some interesting sections, mostly very flat though. In my view it is written too soon, better he had waited until he retired, IMO. As to the foul language...... it added nothing to the read.

  2. You might think it's an underwhelming team but I wish we had it at Workington. It's the team you've got so get behind them or you'll be joining our increasing defunct clubs list.

  6. Personally I have never ever seen a better team rider than Leigh Adams. Absolute master at what is a difficult skill. As pointed out, Adams averaged an amazing 10 points per meeting consistently, and over several seasons. It’s very difficult to compare riders from different eras though. Doyle I would say is more mean and aggressive than Adams ( although again, Leigh was more aggressive than for example Martin Ashby. I remember watching the Ray Wilson/ Ashby run off in the British final at Coventry which decided the final place in the World Final at Wembley. There’s no doubt in my mind that Ashby would’ve won that classic race but he was too nice to Wilson, and allowed him through on the last bend. That said, how lucky have we been at Swindon over the years to see such great and genuine class number ones.

  7. Agreed. Foul language is foul and it makes the person using it to appear uneducated and disrespectful to those who happen to hear it.

  9. Au contraire, you just come across as a sad branleur who can only get the attention he craves by creating multi and being a pain on as many threads as possible. You don’t trigger me as me as I only come on here once in a while. You’re pretty sad really if this is all you’ve got.

  10. Half way down: "Obviously the next step is putting a team together, and I can assure the supporters that as soon as we get names on contracts, signed and sealed, we will deliver them as soon as possible, but rest assured we're on it right now and the wait won't be long, and it will be competitive!"

  12. And Dan has had three years to be where he is, and Josh beat him in one of the last NL fixtures. I hope he is not rushed this year and hope there is a NL northern team that will give a ride and a settled place. If only Buxton was to reopen and give the likes of Josh ,Sheldon, Joe A, Kean Dicken and Keiran D regular rides, and a starter home for Archie when he is ready.

  13. “Handed the title?” “Would have got smashed if they’d have ridden?” Have you actually read what you have posted? CONJECTURE. An opinion or conclusion formed on the basis of incomplete information. FACT. A thing that is known or proved to be true Does that help a little? You will no doubt be disappointed to see another potential title winning team being assembled by Rossiter. Aside from the excellent signings of Musielak and last season, Jensen, don’t forget Rossiter’s inspirational mid season signings go back to 2006 when he signed The virtually unknown Chrzanowski who turned in some incredible double figure scores whilst the team were struggling, almost getting the team to the play off final. I am sure Rossiter has some plans for mid season should things not quite go to plan, and has probably already identified someone who could do similar to all the aforementioned.

  14. Facts can usually be proven. Fact is, we won the title that year, a year that was turned around when Tobiasz Musielak signed. The proof of that fact is undeniable, whilst what you propose as fact is merely opinion

  16. It was wholly up to Tai to choose using foul words or not in the first place when pen went to paper. Since Tai has stopped swearing in front of TV cameras he has actually got more likeable in my estimation. When now being interviewed a different personality seems to across, definitely more likeable, and he has a sense of humour as was displayed when “guesting” with Pearson and Tatum.

  17. The way Adam rode towards the end of the year makes him a "must" in my opinion. I would say Adam next, then Ellis Perks, then a couple of 3 pointers with a view to bringing Vissing in during the season.

  21. Trouble is we now have a chairman of the BSPA who only cares about the present and will only worry about the future come November 2020. A Vice-Chairman who has no interest in junior racing or development and a NL coordinator who will do as he is told. Make of it what you will.

  22. Not necessarily. He came in on short notice as an end of season replacement for a handful of matches with no knowledge of the Ipswich track and no practice on British tracks for a year. I doubt he had enough time to prepare and to organise his mechanics and bikes. If he’d been signed at the start of the year he would inevitably have averaged more than 8.

  34. I am sure he can if given the chance. He's been knocking on the door for so long, and apart from short stints at Stoke and Birmingham, he hasn't been offered a chance to settle in and get the points he is capable of scoring. I think he needs a full year in a NL team to get used to regular racing, and preparing himself for then looking for a reserve place in the Newcastle team.

  37. Yes, youngsters seem to be favouring “literally” over “like” now. I guess it’s a move in the right direction to replace ten “like” with three “literally”. I’m literally over the moon, as they would say.

  38. I agree and also totally unnecessary. English is a rich language and if you cannot express yourself without using unnecessary words then it points to something. I also dislike 'like' 'revert back' 'literally' 'even' but I guess language evolves although with a 9 year old I do occasionally have to respond!

  39. I'm sure management will be aware of his other commitments before signing......being a seasoned 'pro' all the travelling will be part and parcel. As soon as he gets dialled in at PB, we will have a solid Heat Leader! If we stay injury free, we will be a match for any one!
