I had two women literally fighting over the last packet of paracetamol in my shop last night.. One woman picked it up and another snatched it from her as she had gone for it at virtually the same time.. They kicked off an argument and the one who got there seconds late wouldn't give it to the other woman so the one who had got there first gave the other a proper good right hander to the head, knocking her clean over and she landed like a snotty heap on the floor.. I would suggest she needed the paracetamol after all.. A certain irony. .6 points

There is already anecdotal evidence that sell out events are being poorly attended due to people choosing to avoid public gatherings. Against that backdrop and fan's general adversion to guests, what does speedway stand to gain from persevering with the current fixture list? It would make more sense to get ahead of the game, announce a six week delay and reschedule fixtures accordingly.6 points

Sounds logical. And considering that we're so concerned about H&S that we throw BBs outside (sorry for that bit, unnecessary but had to get it in), can you imagine waiting around for a county ambulance to transfer an injured rider? Firstly we'd be sitting there all night, secondly, if and when it did arrive, what priority would that be at A&E with limited, stressed and overworked staff with limited resources? We can't run under such circumstance.5 points

People have been ringing up 111 because they have been using kitchen appliances made in China, and my local Chinese takeaway is 75% down on customers. Human ignorance has no bounds5 points

I wish EVERYBODY (not just you - and on BOTH sides) would READ what is being said, rather than just interpreting what they want. 1) NOBODY said the coronavirus causes sneezing. 2) Just because someone sneezes doesn't mean that they DON'T have the coronavirus. 3) if the virus can be spread by coughing, there is no reason it couldn't be spread by sneezing; the nose and throat are connected.3 points

Of course, it's tough, and a lot of people are going to be affected. I am not saying sport SHOULD continue, but whatever happens, life goes on, and people will still want to do things, either as a participant or as a spectator. Don't forget that, even though we are talking about "sport", sport/entertainment provides a livelihood for thousands - probably millions - of people around the world. From participants to bar/restaurant staff, from cleaners to maintenance staff, from ticket agencies to journalists. I'm sure you wouldn't want to lose your job for weeks (even months), and of course, the way things will be if everything shuts down, it is more than just simple damage to the economy. Does a flu-like (and no, I'm not attempting to trivialise it) virus necessitate the whole world shutting down everything that someone may consider "non-essential"? Think about it...3 points

Think of the media coverage speedway would get if it were the only sport running... This could be the saving of our sport3 points

Its not going to be a six week delay, its not due to peak until may or June. earliest start will be mid June or July3 points
-
All events will be banned sooner rather than later to 'protect' the emergency services. It won't be the sport's decision to make. The St. John's will likely be 'co-opted' into the mainstream NHS and do hospitals, under the current circumstances, want speedway riders, rolling up at A & E? That's my guess anyway.3 points
-
I'm talking about my local track not Peterborough. That's a different issue altogether, and even if there was no coronavirus problems, I still wouldn't be able to go there anymore, but can still do other stadiums where you haven't got a 15-minute walk from the car park!!!3 points
-
If it gets suspended for a few months until June, could we see a reduced fixture list of the Premiership only riding 1 Home 1 Away & the Championship being just regional(North/South divide) then top 2 or 4 go to semi finals or quarter finals depending on number of teams.2 points

Your attacks on the disabled were never funny. You are fooling no one, so wind your neck in and carry on being alarmed...2 points

So one minute couldn't give a crap about the disabled to then telling everyone to now stick together and be kind to each other. What was that about Neil Watson being two faced.2 points

All the doom and gloom merchants have their opinion yet again, rumour after rumour about Niki if the supporters put as half as much effort in to the speedway club as the promotion have over the last few years and especially last winter they would do well, instead of finding fault with everything at the club and starting falsehoods off about who is riding at Sheffield and for how long. Its time now to get behind the club not slag everything off2 points

Looking like I dropped a clanger buying a season ticket this year I could have spent the money on toilet rolls .2 points

You're actually impossible on nearly every thread you contribute to now.2 points

It isn't bad now in the slightest. Yes it will get worse, but to suggest its bad right now is just nonsense. 400,000 to 700,000 die every year from influenza for example. This particularly virus has taken 5000 lives so far worldwide, barely a blip. This is what's scary when people are so panicked over such small figures (compared to what happens every year)... christ knows what they'll be like if and when it shoots up.2 points

Stuart must have been a very popular rider amongst his peers the star studded line up for his farewell meeting on 21st March is very impressive1 point

Quite right, I must have sneezed 3 or 4 times today, dust up nose etc. I don't have the virus (that I know of)... Humans cough and sneeze it's a fact. You even only have to look at somebody talking in sunlight to see how much spit comes out of people's mouths... And that's before you even start to think about hands on surfaces etc. ... And it'll be hay fever season soon1 point
-
No wonder it's out of control with attitudes like this... Some people just don't get it1 point
-
Believe what you want, but why do you think every country is giving advice to wash your hands regularly and thorpughly ? Because if someone sneezes into their hand and then touches something and then you come along a couple of minutes later and touch the same surface then rub your eye or pick your nose, it is highly likely you will get the virus as well...., which is why people are being advised not to shake hands and why they are now opening tube Twain doors automatically in many cities rather than having people press the button themselves.... Anyway, read the NHS advice. They say they don’t even know how it is spread. Plus similar viruses are spread by cough droplets..... think you need to give your head a wobble https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/ plus here is how long cough and sneeze droplets can stay active in the air. And you think only the people on either side will be affected once someone is seated in his place https://www.sciencealert.com/bacteria-in-your-coughs-and-sneezes-can-stay-alive-in-the-air-for-up-to-45-minutes?ignore_amp I actually Heard- it was 5 minutes, but even if that was specific to coronavirus, 5 minutes in a packed stadium is a long time....1 point

Rubbish. If he sneezes or coughs he could affect all those in front of him....plus if he sneezes whilst in the queue to get in he affects all those around him, then sneezes whilst queueing up for a burger or beer, all those. Then sneezes or coughs on the way out all those without any visits to the toilet. And that is only if there is one among those 60,000. What if there are two or three affected......1 point

Is it something to do with covering themselves legally from say the tv contract? If they call things off then they have to pay out. If it is a government call they don’t ? Same as if I have a hotel booked or concert ticket and don’t turn up out of fear I am liable and get no refund. If the concert or hotel calls off, I do1 point

Doesn't work like that does it? Obviously everyone has to take a step back, see what transpires and pray that people and businesses come out of the other side. The mentalist is correct in that being nicer until we see the light at the end of the tunnel is a good idea but we know where we left off!1 point

Ruud. Robbo was always great to interview (when I did the interviews for Bob Tasker/GRT Media). Ask him a question and he would just talk (maybe for not as long as Neil Machin would, mind!).1 point

Neither will they want St John's crews spending a couple of hours at the local speedway track when its likely to be all hands to the pump. As you say, it probably will be taken out of the BSPA's hands anyway.1 point

Cant be true, someone's mate who knows a mate of Nikki says he is only here for two months1 point
-
I'd say that considering his career that's quite a poor line up, hopefully there's a big crowd.1 point
-
Doesn't really sound like a man who is not totally committed to the UK this season and only intends to do a handful of meetings..1 point
-
And then of course, those handful of people are capable of infecting another handful of people in another crowd or on the bus or in the pub etc. That is how an epidemic works. Every infected person is capable of passing it on and very likely will do. The danger is in close contact in whatever setting.1 point
-
What is the point of running a P&P day like you say not all riders are there pointless? It's not as they will need the practice at Peterborough or any other tracks. Well not for a few months1 point

I'd be amazed if we see a season at all. Genuinely, I think after tomorrow that will be it until 2021.1 point

Looks like the 90th and the start of the season are in jeopardy due to covid 19.... Denmark locked down until the 4th of April stymie Claus... Czech republic closes borders tomorrow for God knows how long will stuff Ondrej as he is over there... and with the Jocks putting a block on gatherings of more than 500 people which will inevitably role down here... I reckon once the Ben Fund meeting is done the real action might not start till about 1st June 2020... Oh and I've got a ticket for the Czech GP in Prague going cheap if anyone is interested... Doh.... Regards THJ1 point

Think you will find after the Ben fund meeting runs tomorrow, there will be no more speedway for a good few weeks1 point

Yes, Daniil is the new champ Would have thought at least the quali in Landshut is in danger. Maybe they can have both in Latvia, which doesn't seem too affected atm. But the whole thing is going to get worse before it gets better1 point

make cl affordable for aspiring clubs - pl/cl much too close, be great to see Mildenhall, IOW and Plymouth back. Would also protect cl clubs from making too many losses and guarantee their future1 point

How come Cradley get to ride at Wolves in this league whilst every other nomadic club aren't allowed to? Absolute disgrace.1 point
