...personally I would have thought a photo/plaque commemorating Peter Craven would be appropriate in a suite/room named after him?4 points

I'd agree with that. Worrall is a solid middle order rider. Last season in his last 10 away meetings he won the same amount of races as Lawson and Picko. I believe he was in the 1to 5 as well. Not an earth shattering signing, but one that is reliable and should keep his average imho.4 points

i would be very happy with that team would be great to have kenny back and if we could fit tungate in as well that would be a very solid team. dont think with that team we would be beaten at home and should pick up bonus pts to. its much stronger than having a big hitting number1 and hans at 23 points

I'd have taken Richie at Leicester for sure. I think he's only 30ish and some riders are peaking later than previous times before...I think there is a little bit more to come from Richie for sure. He's no bomber but certainly ain't no mug. Keep the faith panthers...looking forward to you coming to the lions den.3 points

In fairness, I’m not really sure that Rowe exploded onto the scene. Rowe was decent at reserve for Somerset and after a mid season reshuffle got forced into the main body of the side and was decent. I never really saw enough to think Rowe was going to become a top rider like it was expected of Kemp. I think there is something in Rowe to still get to a higher standard but he’s never really going to become World class and probably more of a Worrall standard type rider. Sounds abit harsh but that’s the way I see it. For what it’s worth, I completely agree that it’s a nonsense that if Kemp, Rowe, Thompson etc are ready and available and want a team spot but haven’t because of averages. That should never be allowed to happen. This goes back again to the “rising star” scheme should be a thing in the Championship without question, along with a certain quota of British riders along the same lines as what Poland do.2 points

I presumed with the Victor Meldrew avatar it was an attempt at comedy that had just missed by a long way. In terms of Lemon's management ability in his 5 years in charge, I'd say 4 Premiership play-off appearances, 2 Premiership play-off Finals, a Premiership Title, a Premiership Knock-out Cup win, a National League win, and a National League Cup Final was pretty decent, but I'm not sure what relevance this has to the topic in hand of Peter Collins' BV vendetta, his list of 100+ friends, and his scrawling an obnoxious message in a dying man's book.2 points

He's a rider that all teams tend to have Charles Wright, Stevie Worrall, Erik Riss, Kyle Howarth all bang average but steady Eddie riders2 points

I totally agree, very annoying to see foreigners who couldn't reach their 4.00 assessed aves get team places before 5 point Brits.2 points

Irrespective of how Drew and Anders progress British Speedway is going to suffer .Any British youngster that developing fast is going to lost in the main to Polish Speedway as has been proved with Bewley and Lambert, and let’s be honest British Clubs will struggle to meet their demands unless Swedish speedway (which is struggling) goes completely t#ts up,and the riders want to top up their earnings over here again. Ambition for any Young rider in the WORLD is to get into Polish Speedway.2 points

Could we please leave politics out of a speeway thread and concentrate on the new season, and that goes for football too, mon the Glasgow Tigers2 points

Would need to start a new thread for the more. A 500 pager more. You forgot the missing £600k that was allegedly ringfenced for a future referendum (no laughing at the back) that their executive officer hasn't explained its whereabouts. What's a missing £600k between husband and wife?2 points

I doubt the "low life" will be deterred by that. They have no respect for anything or anyone.1 point

Or just RR or guest as has been the case for every other team in the play offs with injuries.1 point

To put things into perspective Peter Collins has indeed won one individual world championship. Since 1936 (the first officially recognised world championship year), only 37 different riders have won the title. Being one of those 37 is something of an amazing achievement in itself. Apart from that he has won 5 world team championships and 4 best pairs world championship. So a total of 10 world championships. Some achievement. Total speedway world championships Ivan Mauger 12 Ove Fundin 12 Jason Crump 5 Peter Craven 2 Peter Collins 101 point

It’s more like between five and six than between six and seven if his recent averages are anything to go by. 5.60, 5.22 and 5.51 in the recent seasons before last season’s 6.31 Probably not met with much enthusiasm because of the figures above. His 6.31 possibly looking a little expensive and not likely to see any improvement. I’ve listed a few riders of similar standard that every team has in their middle order, problem is when you have more than one of them which Peterborough MIGHT have if Andersen also signs. That can be negated somewhat if you have a couple of real quality bit hitters so Peterborough are gonna need a top rider at 1 I think. If they get one then I still think they’ll be in the mix for a play off spot.1 point

I just don't get the criticism of signing Worrall. Hans Andersen's signing is way more baffling considering the team will be 2 points under the average.1 point
-
He can probably consider himself a little unfortunate, in terms of his average he's in a similar bracket to Jorgensen, MPT and Pickering and personally I'd have been happy to see him back either in a slightly different team structure or in place of Jorgensen. Other than a few frustrating performances I thought he was decent last year. He probably is bang average in that he averages between six and seven but you know what you are getting. The issue will be Andersen if he ends up in the side.1 point

Only got released due to the numbers game as KL needed a HL. Picko was a lock for one of the second string berths and TJ only got the other spot out of loyalty. TJ is KL's version of the Hans Andersen / Panthers situation where the rider gets a gig at the club every season no matter how he performs on track.1 point

Keep the faith in Richie Worrall, Leicester stepping up this season too and that's another technical place he goes very well at. Richie's scores at Sheffield last season were the following which proves he can score points on a big track away from Home against a very solid side too. 6+1 @ No.3 7+2 @ No.4 9+1 @ No.31 point

It certainly irks me that Sam Masters (who I have nothing against) gets a Champ spot despite being one of the top Prem riders & has a team in Poland, ahead of Kemp or Thompson. But where do you have the cut-off on averages for riders doubling up? Most clubs will pick an 8.00 & 2.00 rider over 2 x 5.00 riders, which is why these guys have been left on the sidelines.1 point
-
The key failing was not to put a restriction on heatleader strength that would prevent teams having a powerful top three and as a consequence three low averaged riders, leaving little room for the mid-range riders.1 point

Perhaps I have missed something here - please remind me of Mark Lemon's achievements during his riding career. Under his "watch" the abysmal Belle Vue programme for last year's Peter Craven Memorial Trophy did not make one mention of Peter or his achievements. The Peter Craven Suite still has no pictures or mention of the late, great Peter Craven.1 point

As is traditional ( one might say mandatory) with Peterborough they are making an almighty balls up of what was supposed to be a new era for Panthers. How much of the 30 pieces of silver has Buster still got?1 point

I may be wrong but are there not several events regularly @ both King's Lynn & Scunthorpe that run outside of the BSPL umbrella? So why is this vendetta against the I.O.W. & not others. What the U.K. needs is as much Speedway as possible @ all levels.1 point

It’s been said before but Freddy still has the effects of Long Covid, it’s highly unlikely he will add to his workload I would have thought. If he agrees then fair play to Peterborough for convincing him, I’m sure CVS would welcome the extra income also.1 point

Did she step down as from yesterday? That is not how I understood it. She is stepping down as from when a new SNP leader is appointed. She has got herself in a tangle what with Independance, Gender, hospitals, ferries and probably more.1 point

A drop in the ocean compared to what she awarded herself. She obviously couldn’t recall or have that information to hand though.1 point

Again this is rubbish, Anders was seeded to the final in 22 but couldn't ride in the final and is seeded again in 23 in Glasgow. I can assure you his Polish Team are 100% Anders and are looking forward to him representing GB in 2023.1 point
-
This is rubbish, there were many clubs looking at signing Anders in the winter. He came back last year because he was wanted and put a point on his average which has gone against him for the start of 2023. When clubs start looking at strengthening up Anders and Drew will be the most in demand.1 point
