  1. OED Wondering - desire to know something, feeling curious Jeez thats scary. What makes it worse is that in a couple of teams that might see him ride at reserve!
  2. I was speaking to Davie beforehand tyretrax and he was explaining that he couldnt soak them as much as he would have liked because of the anticipated rain. Also certain areas of the track hold the moisture much better than others and that the first and second bends dry out quicker than the 3rd and 4th. I did come home with half the track in my clothes but I do get what they were saying about the way their hands were tied. I felt that the dust certainly died down quite quickly within a heat or two over where I was. It did seem as if there was less dirt than there has been recently on the track though - I dont know if that ws the case or not but it was a bit disappointing after the grippy racing circuit of previous weeks.
  3. if thats what you want to believe carry on. As for disappointing me, far from it, to be honest it is sadly what I would have expected but then you know best and put the word disappoint in my mouth! Is that a fact or a theory I wonder pmsl. Everytone else thinks he was posing a question, the poster thinks he was posing a question yet you itroduce the word 'theory' and decide its that instead. Hmmm and yet I am the one not reading properly? Im not the one trying to come across superior or seeing something that plainly is not there and trying to claim its a fact but then if you want to pull the superior English knowledge card and make yourself look silly feel free I'll stick with the non paranoid posts and my apparently bad English!
  4. On the contrary - I can differentiate but you seem to think everything is a conspiracy theory! There are a few sites mentioned in the general discussions threads on conspiracy theories that I am sure you will feel at home in. I'll just keep reading what was ACTUALLY posted thanks
  5. I think some people may be struggling to understand the difference between a theory and a question. It was the latter and certainly not presented as fact according to my grasp of the English language! (Insert roll eyes smiley here)
  6. Or perhaps if people check their posts they will see their Rosco comments are part of the meeting thread probably cos it was already being covered in there or there was duplicate discussion in the two threads? Its maybe worth folks remembering that you can look at your recent posts in your profile and it quickly shows that posts haven't been deleted :-)
  7. ach if it stops you pair bickering it wasnt Heather today being serious for a mo, we had a forecast for heavy intermittant rain. I spoke to one of those responsible for the track beforehand and trust me he was gutted he couldnt prepare the track the way he wanted. However with the forecast, if he HAD soaked the track (and prevented the early dust), the track would never have stood up to the rain. Damned if you do.....damned if you dont
  8. You are biased Sarah but I trust your judgement! Like I say, I was at probably the furthest away point you could watch from!
  9. Triple H - remember its speedway riders.... Having had concussion in March I agree with you - I was stopped curling for 14 days ffs (correctly). Bizarrely though when I was released from hospital I asked the doctor how long I should refrain from driving for and was told I could drive home if I wanted (I didnt, I knew I wasnt fit to but it makes you wonder). In a high adrenaline high impact split second decision making sport like speedway I would say 14 days easily. the problem yo uthen have though is that its riders livlihood and there may be attempts to get round that
  10. if I had been a nasty person I'd have got you to bet on it but as I had inside info it wouldnt have been fair and Im from the West Coast so you got away with it
  11. You were at the meeting too HT and never noticed Mike Hunter has kindly confirmed for me on facebook that in fact the first occurence where a replacement was allowed is in fact wrong and that the rider should NOT have been replaced but one rider only until three of his initial rides were taken. Ive seen both scenarios happen on a few occassions which for me just highlights even more that perhaps making sure referees know basic rules should be high on the agenda for this years referees meeting! I was shocked to find out that a rider was only signed off for 7 days for concussion. I am still trying to figure out why Stoke's James McBain was signed off for an automatic 28 days when he suffered concussion and yet in the PL riders can come back after 7 days. I think I've used the wooden spoon enough tonight already though!
  12. Genuine rules question here and although I am using two examples I am not saying I think the decisions are right or wrong. i just have this weird idea that there are rules which cover it and it would be nice to know what they are! Last week I was at a meeting where a visiting rider pulled out of the meeting with an existing injury, the comment being made that he had come and tried but just wasnt fit. His team were allowed to replace him in his remaining rides. Today I was at another meeting where a home rider pulled out with an existing injury and his team werent allowed replacements in his remaining rides. My question is, what EXACTLY are the rules for this situation? Is it 1. At the referee's discretion? 2. Set in stone in which case one referee called it wrong OR 3. Decided by the team managers agreeing a replacement will/will not be allowed? Maybe I should ask 4. Why the hell do I expect there to be clear rules in speedway but it IS a genuine question. Im curious as to why the two situations were dealt with differently and what the difference was. Does it depend on if it is a home team or visitors? Thanks
  13. Well done to Berwick, you can only beat whats in front of you and the Bandits did the job well. Would be interested to hear the comments from those on the 4th bend about heat 13 - I thought Rusty was taken out by Vissing but it could just be that from the other end of the stadium it looked different and he actually had more room than I thought
  14. Ignore the troll Blacksmith - after all didnt he think Team GB did well in the winter Olympics curling? personally I think it says more about these people than any of our comments would. as for editing posts for inaccuracy, the mods would have to 1) be right all the time - yeah right! and 2) spent their entire life changing things!
  15. are you referring to the royal 'wee' george? or just taking the p!ss?
  16. I dont think they use that as the business address - it certainly wasnt the address used for season ticket applications for example which I think was in Hamilton, Earnock Dr or something? Can anyone shed more light? EDIT: Okay I was half way right. from the season ticket application form...... Glasgow Tigers Speedway Ltd. • 4 Cumnock Drive Hamilton ML3 9DN however the official stadium address is Ashfield Stadium,404 Hawthorn Street,Glasgow,G22 6RU Alternatively the registered address is: Glasgow Tigers Speedway Ltd. Registered Office: 5 Oswald Street, Glasgow Registered in Scotland Company No. SC433403 VAT Registration Number 150 5424 41 Take yer pick as they say!
  17. In Scots Law - not sure i its the same in England - local councils are exempt from noise nuisance laws. Found this out when they insisted on doing very noisy work on school property at the back of me and we couldnt get it stopped. They are also not subject to normal fire safety rules on their buildings and who knows what else. Thats all by the by though. What I cant get my head round in this case is why they were ever allowed to sue the speedway. If their issue was with the long established development then simplistically there are two possibilities:- 1. They knew about the venue before they moved in (and lets face it, it was hard to miss!) in which case they chose to buy on that basis so Mildenhall have no case to answer or: 2. they didnt know in which case their solicitor was negligent in not mentioning it when doing the legally required land registry check so it should be their solicitor they sue Instead, they are being allowed to destroy the lifetimes work and savings of individuals like spoilt kids wanting extra jelly at a birthday party
  18. but the article says they looked at trying to get the meeting moved - surely they would have had to say why at the time? Or alternatively, perhaps THEY wanted to be the ones who officially announced it and not have it appear on the Edinburgh website first as other clubs info has
  19. err....has anyone checked if the weekly rain shower is due at 3pm Sunday this week?
  20. shhhh no one knows about the caramel wafers or the snowballs. Although personally I think going in strong with the tunnocks tea cakes is over the top
