I think "D" on speedway.org means a disqualification, but I'm not sure where they got their info from. I had a look on Russian forum and from my (limited) understanding of Russian I think Lehtinen fell in his first ride. The word in bold (=padenie) means a fall in Russian.

Kolenko confirmed last week, that he will be riding for Wolfslake this year.

UEM issued a press release after Management council meeting on Monday and included the following news in the release: The Ice Racing European Championship Semi-Final and Final, scheduled on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd February 2007 in Lukhovitsy (Russia), were cancelled because of particular weather conditions.
-
From yesterday's FIM press release: Due to the adverse atmospheric conditions (very mild temperature), the qualifying round 1 of the Individual Ice Racing World Championship in Saalfelden, Austria, previously scheduled on January 14, then on January 21, must be postponed again; the new date is Sunday 4 February. For the same reason, the Team Ice Racing World Championship final, scheduled in Saransk, Russia, on January 27 & 28, is postponed to March 3 & 4.

The following has been released by the FIM today: Following the decision taken by the Speedway Grand Prix Commission, please find hereafter the main modification for the 2007 Ind. Speedway World Championship Grand Prix Regulations. This modification in the regulation concerns the points system. We will keep the format with 20 heats, 2 Semi-Finals and one Big Final. The difference is in the points system: now, in the 20 heats and the two Semi-Finals the riders will score the following points: For first place 3 points For second place 2 points For third place 1 point For fourth place 0 points For the Big Final, the points would be doubled so the riders will score the following points: For first place 6 points For second place 4 points For third place 2 points For fourth place 0 points The qualification system for eligibility to the Big Final will be the same as in 2006: the eight top-scoring riders after Heat 20 will qualify for the Semi-Finals. The winner and second placed in each Semi-Final will qualify for the Big Final. Concerning the meeting result for each SGP round, the placings for the first, second, third and fourth rider will be determined by the results of the Big Final. The third and fourth placed riders of each Semi-Final who did not make it to the Finals will be classified according to their points scored in heats 1 to 20 plus the points scored in their Semi-Finals. For all other riders who did not qualify for the Semi-Finals, they will keep their points scored in heats 1 to 20. Points scored by each rider at the conclusion of the meeting will be credited as Grand Prix points in the overall classification.

I don't know all the details about that incident, but from what I've heard from Zagar team, there was no "picking/choosing" and Matej apparently had a good reason why he missed the last couple of meetings in Sweden this year. As I said, I am not sure what it was all about, but apparently Matej had some medical proof that he couldn't ride in one of those meetings, and on other occasion he had other commitments. Matej also said that the situation in Vargarna club this year was not as good as it was last season when he first rode for the club and that relations between him and club officials were not so friendly any more. When he announced his plans to ride in Poland next year instead of Sweden (at the press conference in Ljubljana in October), he told Slovenian press that the main reason for that is that he hasn't learned anything new in Sweden in these two years, that he doesn't feel good in Sweden any more and that the whole atmosphere doesn't suits him. Therefore he decided to move to Poland to get new challenge. I can only guess, of course, if his current opinion of Sweden is connected with his argument with Vargarna.
-
This is pretty old news. Matej first talked about giving Sweden a miss in 2007 at the end of October at AMKT Ljubljana press conference and then repeated it a couple of times after that. Apparently he doesn't want too busy schedule next year and as he decided to try himself in Poland, Sweden had to be left out of his plans for next season. I heard he had some pretty decent offers from Swedish clubs, but I guess he will earn much more money in Torun ...

Guys at uem-online.org are a bit lazy, I guess. They are always pretty slow at putting such info online. There was an UEM meeting in Netherlands this weekend where all calendars and rider allocation for UEM meetings in 2007 have been confirmed. And some guys (from Netherlands for example) have already received this info and published it. Check baansportfansite.nl for the details.
