  1. Krsko is also not very far from Ljubljana and once the new highway will be finished it will only take you around 40 minutes to get to Krsko from Ljubljana. And if you are aiming for big stadiums in major population centres: how about a new stadium that will be built in Ljubljana by 2010: http://www.sadarvuga.com/php/project.php?id=59
  2. Slovenian speedway season starts this Sunday with an opening round of Slovenian-Croatian-Austrian championship. There are some changes to the lineup from last year, Marko Vlah of Croatia has quit speedway, Norbert Grogler of Austria is also on the sidelines till June, and Ales Kraljic is coming back after 2 year absence. All the big names are still in, though, with Matej Zagar aiming for 7th Slovenian title. Zagar will be using both Jawa and GM engines this year, although he says Jawa is still his preference. His strongest opponents will probably be Jurica Pavlic, who is in great form this year and Jernej Kolenko, this year on GM engines. Experienced Izak Santej will also be mixing it in with the best, as will Austrians Hauzinger and Wallner. Maks Gregoric is hoping to step up a ladder this year after big financial investment into his engines (he is using one of the well known tuner). There should be a great battle for the title of best Slovenian junior between Matija Duh and Matic Voldrih, who are both making a steady progress year after year. Ales Kraljic has proved in practice that he can still ride a bike and he has set himself an aim to finish in 3rd place in Slovenian championship. That's a short introduction to the championship, if anyone is interested in more info, feel free to ask. Lineups for both group B and group A can be seen here: http://www.speedway.si/index.php?option=co...5&Itemid=62
  3. Pavlic should get a good back up from Martinec, but other riders might struggle. Pigac is a talent, but he needs more track time, Cvetko has been around for a while, but hasn't done anything special yet, and Kezman is the most inexperienced of them who will be lucky to score.
  4. Meeting finished after heat 13. There will be some additional heats with juniors.
  5. Maximum age for riders is 16, which means that they can ride for the whole year in which they turn 16. BTW: FIM have in November announced rider allocations for various world championship for 2008, but they have only published requests from national federations for Youth Gold cup 80cc. MA has apparently requested 8 places for its riders.
  6. Slovenian federation has nominated riders for various world and junior championship: Grand Prix of Slovenia (nominations) 26.04. SGP Krško - wild card: Matej Zagar, reserves: Izak Santej, Jernej Kolenko Grand Prix qualifications 31.05. Qual. round 2 - D. Kraljevec - Matej Zagar, Jernej Kolenko SWC qualifications 29.06. 7. This should go into "Slovenian news 2008" but I couldn't be bothered to open new topic. AMTK Ljubljana riders had an excellent practice session in Ljubljana yesterday. All riders were practising really hard for over 2 hours, including Matej Zagar, Jernej Kolenko, Ales Kraljic (returning to the track after 2 years), Maks Gregoric and Matic Voldrih + 4 juniors (among them 4 times Slovenian scooter champion Beno Lipnik). Around 100 photos from the practice can be seen here: http://speedway.si/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=222
  8. Trieste to Krsko is pretty easy as there is a highway along almost all the route. From Trieste head to the Slovenian border (the Fernetici border crossing) and then straight to Ljubljana. At Ljubljana use the southern part of Ljubljana ring into Zagreb-Novo Mesto direction. And then just keep to the main road (most of it is highway, but some parts are missing so you'll be directed to the normal roads). But no problem about that as there is only one way to go, just keep driving to the Zagreb direction. Once in a Krsko region, highway exits for Krsko are well visible and you'll have no problem getting into the city. Once there, stadium will be on your right side. Trieste to Krsko is around 190km, and highway tolls in Slovenia will cost just over 6 euros. Petrol prices: Super Plus 98: 1,072 EUR/L Eurosuper 95: 1,058 EUR/L Primadiesel: 1,113 EUR/L See below for a map of Slovenia with Trieste, Ljubljana and Krsko nicely visible:

  11. Here is a photo of Krsko, particularly the stadium and train station (red circle), to give you an idea how far the track is from the station. Here is also the link to a dynamic ortofoto map, where you can zoom in/out: http://www.geopedia.si/#b2_x538598.625_y89936.5_s15

  14. Jernej Kolenko has signed for Berlin-Wolfslake.
  15. Sportowefakty published final standings. Don't know if it's correct. http://www.sportowefakty.pl/?dysc_id=4&k1_...&news_id=240350
  16. Slovenian junior champion Matija Duh joins KSM Krosno.

  18. Slovenian tracks are usually only visible in poor quality on international satellite maps websites. But, luckily, a fantastic project was started in Slovenia last year, which produced a map of Slovenia covered with satellite photos in great details. The website is called GEOPEDIA and is accessible at geopedia.si. Here are direct links to satellite photos of all 3 Slovenian speedway tracks: Ljubljana http://www.geopedia.si/#b2_x459964.25_y103022.25_s18 Krsko http://www.geopedia.si/#b2_x538247.75_y89510.25_s18 Lendava http://www.geopedia.si/#b2_x613562.25_y155045.25_s18
  19. Of course, Hungarian juniors were also riding in this common junior championship, but I'm not sure if their junior 2007 champion was the best Hungarian in the common junior championship.
  20. Your information is correct, Novotny, Martinec and Duh are junior champions of Austria, Croatia and Slovenia. Junior championships for these 3 countries and Hungary were organized together as a common junior championship, 5 rounds were staged, but national junior champions were declared as the best riders of a particular country. Duh was the best of Slovenians, Martinec the best of Croatian and Novotny the best of Austrians, but I'm not sure if Hungarian junior champion was declared the same way. Final standings of a common championship of those 4 countries and a final standing of Slovenian junior championship can be found here: http://www.speedway.si/index.php?option=co...=1201&Itemid=83
  21. Slovenian photographer Borut Cvetko was in Togliatti in early November (during the UEM meeting) and took some pictures of new speedway stadium there. Stadium capacity is 15.000. It looks really great with swimming pool, saunas, fitness, solarium ... every rider also has it's own appartment etc. Russians are also planning to start a speedway school in the stadium and they have already bought 50 80cc bikes for the kids. I've been told that Russians (Mega Lada Togliatti) are planning to stage European individual final in 2009 and are hoping to stage one of the rounds of Grand Prix series in 2010. Stadium photos here: http://mediaspeed.net/skupina.asp?id=3&skupina=1714
  22. Well, they answered my email very quickly and I have helped gooner_girl4eva to get in contact with their Sales & marketing department. As I was told, all 3 of their hotels in Terme Catez complex still have rooms available for the Slovenian GP weekend, so if anyone is thinking of coming to Krsko next year, book your accomodation as soon as possible.
  23. No offence taken, mate, don't worry . I know what Matej is like.
  24. Has anyone heard anything about Matej Zagar? I've heard yesterday, that he was pretty close to signing a deal with one of the elite league clubs, but his financial demands were too big, so it didn't go through. Which club might that be?
  25. Check this website: http://speedway.gp.prv.pl/ It's a fantastic website with almost any statistical category on the GP series that you can think of. For number of GPs and number of points achieved by riders, go to STATYSTYKI and then: ILOSC STARTOW = number of meetings ILOSC PUNKTOW = number of points If you need anything else, I can translate other parts of the website.
