  1. I don't know why they don't reply to your emails, but maybe I can try and contact them. Can you send me your details (name, which hotel do you want to book up etc), please, so that I can ask them about your enquiry.
  2. World championship 1937 Jack Milne, Wilbur Lamoreaux, Cordy Milne 1949 Tommy Price, Jack Parker, Louis Lawson 1961 Ove Fundin, Bjorn Knutsson, Gote Nordin 1988 Erik Gundersen, Hans Nielsen, Jan O Pedersen European junior championship 1999 Rafal Okoniewski, Karol Malecha, Jaroslaw Hampel
  3. You mean a general rule for all competitions in speedway? I don't think there exists such rule. It all depends on the type of competition. For FIM championships minimum age is 17, for UEM it's 16 (U19 european championship) and it's different for national championships. I know that for Slovenian junior championship this year the minimum age for riders was 14, but Croatians have a lot of young riders and they set their minimum age lower.
  4. Today I received official UEM calendar and rider allocations for 2008. If anyone is interested, I can forward the email to him (it's one Word and one Excel file).
  5. I think this is him: http://mediaspeed.net/dinamic/medium/41254.jpg I might be wrong, though, because he was riding in the racing suit of the same colours as Nikola Pigac in this meeting.
  6. D.O.B.: 3.7.1990 The next Croatian star could well be Dino Kovacic. At just 13 (!!!) years of age (D.O.B.: 14.1.1994), he finished 3rd in this years U21 championship of Croatia, Slovenia, Austrian and Hungary and was only beaten by Martinec and Slovenian U21 champion Matija Duh (final standings here: http://www.speedway.si/index.php?option=co...1201&Itemid=83). Here is a photo of Kovacic: http://mediaspeed.net/dinamic/medium/41205.jpg
  7. I've sent an email to UEM secretariat last week, but (surprise, surprise) noone replied to my question about UEM 2008 calendar. I've just emailed a couple of UEM track racing commission members and I'm hoping for more luck this time.
  8. It's not just a system, I think there are always all 4 quarterfinals. For example, this year results: Quarterfinals: -Krosno: http://www.sportowefakty.pl/index.php?dysc...&news_id=200659 -Lodz: http://www.sportowefakty.pl/index.php?dysc...&news_id=200664 -Gdansk: http://www.sportowefakty.pl/index.php?dysc...&news_id=200738 -Ostrow: http://www.espeedway.pl/index.php?co=newsy&id=16598 Semifinals: -Zielona Gora: http://www.sportowefakty.pl/index.php?dysc...&news_id=211754 -Rybnik: http://www.sportowefakty.pl/index.php?dysc...&news_id=211725 Final: -Wroclaw: http://www.sportowefakty.pl/?dysc_id=4&k1_...&news_id=213240
  9. It's not all about the prize money, riders usually want a fixed sum of money just to get to the meeting. This guy is a local businessman who also owns the speedway pub that is under the main grandstand. This year he invited top 10 riders in the world (from the GP), so it's obvious he was prepared to spend a lot of money for this meeting. But, as he told me personally, at the end of the day he was still getting more money in then what he spent for riders, promotion and the whole organization. This was a result of a quite a big crowd (around 6000) and a two days party at the stadium that he also organized (it all started on Friday evening and then continued on Saturday evening right after the meeting was finished).
  10. Well, Slovenia has: Official tournaments: - Individual championship (together with Austria and Croatia) - this year 4 meetings 2007 final standings: http://www.speedway.si/index.php?option=co...=1200&Itemid=62 - Individual junior championship (together with Austria, Croatia and Hungary) - this year 5 meetings 2007 final standings: http://www.speedway.si/index.php?option=co...=1201&Itemid=62 - Club cup competition (together with Austria and Croatia) - this year 5 meetings: this is not a competition like in England or Poland where 2 teams ride against each other. This cup competition was contested by 5 clubs/teams (AMTK Ljubljana, AMD Krsko, SK Unia Gorican, SK Prelog and Austria (this is not a real club, it's more of an Austrian select side)) who all rode in all 5 meetings 2007 final standings and some stats: http://www.speedway.si/index.php?option=co...=1208&Itemid=62 Then we also have some open meetings: - Golden Sign of Krsko (24th edition this year) 2007 results: http://www.speedway.si/index.php?option=co...d=895&Itemid=83 - Golden Helmet of Lendava (10th edition this year) 2007 results: http://www.speedway.si/index.php?option=co...=1064&Itemid=83 - SAX Speedway Supercup - a new open individual competition this year, which attracted some of the best riders in the world: Crump, B.Pedersen, Hampel, Zagar ... Results: http://www.speedway.si/index.php?option=co...d=836&Itemid=83 This meeting should evolve into one of the greatest open meetings in Europe in the next few years, because the promotor of this competition has big plans with it, something similar to Czech Golden Helmet ... (oops, you didn't hear that from me ).
  11. I'm not quite sure what is the source of that calendar. As far as I know there will be / was a UEM track racing comission meeting at the beginning of November (I think it will be in Togliatti ), but I haven't seen or heard anything official. That calendar was, I think, originally posted on one of the Czech website, but it's not much different to the preliminary UEM calendar announced after UEM congres in July and it's not complete, so we'll have to wait for official calendar to be announced.
  12. Excuse me? Finland will be against Slovenia, Italy and Czech republic, while USA will be against Hungary, Latvia and Germany.

  18. As I posted a little while ago, I heard that Krsko will host the opening round and it will be on April 26th. It has not been officially confirmed yet, but this info came directly from the organizers, AMD Krsko club.
  19. Yes, it's a new competition - European team junior championship, something similar to World U21 team championship. But as it's a European championship I guess it will be U19.
  20. He is from Czech republic, not Poland. Here is his website: http://www.siteraspeedway.com/en/index.php
  21. Don't think so. And I think Zagar knows already that he is out of the series for next year, at least judging by his comments and reactions after Gelsenkirchen.
  22. A group of 9 fans from Slovenia is setting off in the afternoon today, we have a flight to Weeze airport and then renting a car to the Essen where we sleep. Hope to meet some of you at the stadium for a beer or five .
  23. Some pics from Pardubice: -Stuha: http://mediaspeed.net/skupina.asp?id=3&skupina=1600 -Prilba: http://mediaspeed.net/skupina.asp?id=3&skupina=1599
