  1. It depends on if Lamberts comments are based on reality or just his perception - the track wasn’t smooth particularly but as you say it was rideable - I saw a far worse crash (than anything last night) in the meeting vs Kings Lynn when Dan Thompson went through the airbag at the first turn and dislocated his shoulder or was it wrist and the track was still fine that night but much drier in my view he was just annoyed he hadn’t done better and it was easy to deflect blame into the track - I still don’t even get what the problem was in heat 15 - Doyle was off gate one was in the clear and rode out to the fence moving off the bend a standard move in 000s of races each year - Lambert for some reason thought he could possibly get by - once Doyle got himself in front Lambert never had a hope of making that move! If Doyle hadn’t made that move I’d have said he bottled it and I’d expect Lambert would do the same move himself if the roles were reversed.
  2. Pickering was a complete contrast however - Lambert whilst making perhaps some valid comments probably only one (or maybe two) about the heat 4 incident just came across so badly. Sadly for me he has blotted his copybook and the fact he keeps turning up for (mainly) playoff finals is somewhat infurating, he needs to commit to a full season next year! Does he say the same about the KL track he rides each week? (genuione question!) He is a very good rider - possibly not as good as he can be, or thinks he is yet! The greatest riders can ride all tracks which has often been the reason some top riders insist on riding in the UK its keeps the sharp.
  3. This is most certainly not over - (some) Witches fans may feel they have one hand on the trophy but there is all to play for. Track has been catching Danyon out all year sadly, he does have a tendancy to drop it just when he is in a scoring position, that seems to be the nature of his style unfortunately. The only decision to my mind the ref got wrong was heat 4 Interesting contrast in the interviews at the end - Pickering who is a great rider in my view was pragmatic and up for the final leg - Lambert just came across as a prima donna who didn't like the fact he hadn't scored more points and had been badly schooled by Doyle and Emil in heats 13 and 15 when he really should be looking to do better. Don't even get the fuss about heat 15 Doyle rode out wide to block the move - something that has been around in speedway racing since it started!! Even Abby seemed taken a back by Lamberts sourpuss grumpy face interview, come on Robert you are better than this! The racing at Ipswich will always be different from the Bowl like Owlerton / Belle Vue but there was passing its just that often the Ipwich riders were in front. My preference is to always have tracks like BV and Sheffield but I live in the real world not some the fantasy land that so many seem to inhabit. from the Ipswich perspective is imperative Doyle and Emil receive backup tomorrow King is capable of riding Sheffield pretty well so his contribution will be important - Pickering will be a major threat he is capable of scoring 10 maybe 12 in this. Lets hope that there is no bottom lip from the losers on Thursday whoever they might be!
  4. ah it must have been one of those i went to - it was and I remember thinking why! to me this stuff is dull!
  5. How frequently does the banger racing occur? It was the same at Arena when I used to go all those years ago - it was always on a sunday tho, but the racing was fairly infrequent (once a month or something) - we went once and i never have felt the slightest inclination to go again. Can't make the Ipswich leg but weather permitting (its been drizzle and rain here for 2 days) I plan to make the Owlerton leg
  6. is he that old? i though he was about 19 or 20! Well good luck to the guy he helped the Witches to the final
  7. will follow his career with interest - he was well on the pace and looks a good prospect
  8. I am sure that loss hurt (particuarly coming so close) but Bv been very magnanimous in defeat!
  9. Given his lay off the previous 7 days or so its a stunning bit of guts and determination to even ride let alone pull off that heat 15
  10. sadly most definitely not, what is the realistic hope of doing a Workington or Redcar and building out of town?
  11. there is no doubting that the NSS is a great track and venue - agree with your comments. It’s also worth noting that having read interviews with Morton and Pairman they ran into severe financial trouble afterwards if I am not mistaken. that said the template for any new tracks is there / if they can secure out of town land and build something like that we may have a chance of still having a sport in 20 years
  12. Blows a kiss to Shovlar - nevermind eh bit tense as Bv tried to reel the scoreline in looks like a cup final re-run then for the final
  13. agree - on their day either is capable of beating the other - Bewley didn't have a great day in Poland yesterday, 9 from 6 as Wroclaw well beaten by Lublin.
  14. Agree in principle but meetings are not won and lost based on averages / assumptions based on how good x or y is!
  15. He is in good company - Adams etc At least he has Speedway of Nations Golds! It is a shame that he is not permitted to compete - lets hope this is resolved soon.
  16. Yeah I feel you could be right - i was disappointed at Owlerton, I expected more from him, as a relative neutral the meeting suffered as a result of his 3 from 4 rides. Then shortly after he goes a wins a GP!
  17. Take a bow Danny King as well - great end of season form, and special mention for Keynan Rew also!
  18. In you're defeat at Owlerton he seemed unhappy with his bikes but he has had all season to get this right!
  19. The reason for this stunning lead in the first leg was the fact I wasn't there! Like Mr Doyle I am touch and go for the 2nd leg too! In seriousness there must be no complacency - two opening heat 5-1s and the Aces will be right in it so maximum focus from the off! For now though the Witches will be the happier of the two sides.
  20. I was there for 2 of those Peterborough meetings - one which included the super heat win - the other thing about Chris is he is always capable of pulling out a big score whereever he rides, his best days are yes behind him now but never discount his ability to score points and entertain! added to say which is probably why he gets so many guest bookings - that and an ave that fits!
  21. Whilst we may never know if Bomber had been any good or not - what you never discount is even at his age / stage of his career he always to pull out some big scores. I kind of glad the weather won last night, id decided not to travel anyway - next week may give Doyley the chance to be fit how knows - I'd rather see him ride if he is fit lets hope he is.
  22. This forum proves that also - on another note i used to post / a member on football forums and if you think the speedway forum was bad then you havent seen owt! There were people on those places who had no understanding of football rules / laws etc. Its sunny here across the Pennines right now but rain is due later - I am in two minds about travelling to the NSS today
  23. I bet - well lets hope a week off and he is fully recoverd! TY for the news!
  24. I find its best not to delve too deep into all sports! None of them are truly whiter than white! Juts go along and enjoy, as with most things in life you can find things to whine and moan it in every situation, so its best to try and just enjoy the event. This!
