Belle Vue v Leicester 3/8
GeneralMelchett replied to Rob B's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Not seen it so can't and won't comment - would still expect a home win for this. -
Lynn v Sheffield 3/8/26
GeneralMelchett replied to Bagpuss's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Whilst I think Northampton are out of it the battle for the 4th spot will i think be interesting - The Aces and Leicester are i feel nailed on and if Sheffield keep winning at home they will probably be through leaving the Witches and the Star to fight it out for spot 4 - so the Stars need to win well tomorrow! -
Tigers vs Foxes, 30th July
GeneralMelchett replied to paulnolan's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
That’s good news! The club seem quite active on social media and the Sheffield star seem to put a few bit out as well so hopefully all this will help bring a few more in - of course massive home wins with processional racing won’t help that - need a 47-43 last heat decider against the aces with Kurtz being slung out for a controversial exclusion to get everyone talking ! -
Some people just ‘assume’ and it helps confirm their biases!

Lets hope so but sometimes we have to be realistic as the saying goes Rome wasn't built in a day and we have to judge IMHO the new promotion come Winter 2027! (Assuming we get a 2027!)

I read the World Final Programme a few years back (my dad attended) for 1953 (maybe 4) and in that the chairman of I think Wembley speedway was calling for unity and commitment to taking tough decisions over the winter to secure our great sport! Plus ca Change, plus c'est la meme chose!

Leicester vs. Ipswich KO CUP Final 2nd Leg 30/07/26
GeneralMelchett replied to TTT's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
An expected outcome - well done to the Lions - really rooting for TomB to start scoring what we know he is capable off. -
The track has seen a few riders all over the place in the first 1-2 or 3 heats then they grade it and it settles down, Poor old Jason Edwards seems to struggle to get going in heat 2 which ideally is a race we want him and Kevin to win!
-
Sorry to see him go, to give credit sometimes if your heart isn't in it then its right to make that decision rather than try to soldier on! A great career in many ways won many things - fair play to him! Some times the hardest decision in any career is timing the exit!

Foxes v Stars, July 27th
GeneralMelchett replied to paulnolan's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Oh Rob T - what a guy. Stevens was a bit like dear old Bodger - had the ability but was often inconsistent. I think the Arena track was a bit of a shock to them also after starting in the old British League. I also think his confidence went - we opened the league with a massive win V Exeter that year and he scored ok but never really reproduced that. https://www.speedwayresearcher.org.uk/arenaessex1990.pdf It didn't help that in 1990 we were not that great and then we got taken over for 1991!! -

Went to Arena in 1990 and never really showed his promise! Think he drifted away after that season. -
yes i could feel the seethe via the internet! I would say that it was the best crowd i had seen last night so what with streaming and that hopefully the meeting ran at a profit. The issue I do have is variety - I am back at Foxhall next week and its Northampton - last time it was a close meeting 47-43 but in 4 matches at Foxhall I will have only seen 2 or the 5 other teams.
-
would that be a 10+2 in beating the Stars 😉 Lets be honest a lot won't have expected his scores of late for thew Foxes!

Premiership 2027 - Are You Interested??
GeneralMelchett replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
agreed but - I am due to attend the next two fixtures at Foxhall 6th and 20th Aug the opponents are the Foxes who I have already seen lose 43-47 earlier this season and Leicester who i have seen win and draw tonight! I fully intend to go and enjoy the meetings but that means In 5 fixtures in 2026 I will have only seen 2 of the 5 other sides in the Premiership this season! -
I had forgotten about that - it was nasty one so maybe that's a factor - I hope he gets back to where i think we all know he can be. Cracking fella - he was trying - i don't think the track helped insofar as it wasn't easy to work lines to pass - but some did - in fact I have Tom making a 4th to 3rd spot move in heat 10 past Kyle Howarth. He tried hard in heat 13 but just couldn't get close enough to Masters.

Foxes v Stars, July 27th
GeneralMelchett replied to paulnolan's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Well done Foxes pleased for you! Possibly lost the BP with Iversen pushing the tapes in heat 15? Viz a Viz previous discussions who do they drop now!! -
Anyway back to the meeting great nights for Danny King and Drew Kemp - in fact Kemp has I reckon won Leicester the cup with his 15 tonight. He was just very good out of the starts tonight and away - It was difficult to work lines to over take. That said there was some (good) overtaking in a few heats and some decent racing and it was a close meeting and the crowd was for me the best of the three meetings I have attended. Sorry that all seems a bit positive. Tom B will benefit form being away from No 1 from - was trying hard but its not working for him right now. Three of the Witches top riders all had one dud ride / fall each which cost them. Jason Edwards took two heats to work out the track - this needs to be from heat2! Not sure if KJP is fit? Dan Thompson seems to not be progressing - I have seen him twice at Foxhall only this season but it was his former home track land I expected more from him on this occasion. Being honest take away Kemps stunning 15 pts and the witches would have probably won this 49-41 or so.

Sheffield vs Ipswich 23/07/26

As I said we can read into a result what we want to - it’s what fans do!
