I can imagine - as an ex paperboy (13-16 y/o in the very late 80s) I can't imagine anyone does that kind of job now. I still like a physical copy of my speedway star however when i do by it which is about 50% of the time maybe more in season.

yes, it was interesting to read the new Ipswich promotions comments in the star today - I have a mate who works for the Sheffield Star newspaper and has done for 30 years he says that now Vlogs and short video stories are the order of the day no one reads print anymore (well its much reduced)

It proved a point in that I watched it once - now everytime i see him I flick off the video and don't watch it cos i think he is a grade A weapon - it worked once never to work again with me. Your right in that the public now (largely) have the attention span of a goldfish and value style over substance.

i think the guys a nob but each to their own. Interesting to read the star this week and the comments from Jason Edwards about the club ethos and management at Ipswich - hugely complimentary - lets just hope that isn't lost

Good to have the clarity re the team etc, so the Witches have gone strength in depth this time - will enjoy it anyway - nice to see Tobi finally a Witch about 2-3 seasons after he asked for a team spot! He should be good to watch at Foxhall! Awesome Richard Lawson will be a solid and reliable rider too. I always said Scotty would come back to finish his career as a Witch!

Not a problem - I never worry or get angry at disagreements - for all we know there might be a gaggjng clause in place - it’s clear to me one of the reasons this took longer than many liked was - who - was buying - a big entity who will have not cut corners to get it done quick! Lots of legal and diligence stuff I am sure!

I was pondering this just this AM - at some point CL would have ‘retired’ anyway and was there a natural successor in the family to take over - the answer is probably no! I wonder if this is perhaps the start of a more professional era for the league and perhaps the sport in the U.K. - I won’t hold my breath but let’s hope so for all our sakes! Of course in 20 years we might be moaning it’s all gone too far and the elite league has gone the same way at the PL in football! for now the witches come to the tapes in 2026 which I was always confident they would! wont lie going to miss Doyley and Emil!!

you been to a football match recently? I think BSN are great and offer a really decent product - i'd say (with a few caveats) they are better than the TNT product of last season. One of the reasons I like to use BSN is I have no club to properly follow as mine closed and I like to watch say Belle Vue v Leicester as a neutral. That said Leicesters streaming service is always very good also (I feel)!

Well I woukd be happy for him to be a Witch - I suppose some wont forgive him after the playoff 2023 with what he said. I can think of many a rider who has gone from zero to hero at a club that previously disliked them!

Whilst everyone seems to get very frustrated etc I'm actually impressed that they have managed to achieve this in about 3 months - given it was only decided in early / Mid Nov that Louis was selling up and they were working to a tight deadline - its credit to all parties its been achieved! I know many have joked about what are you buying etc etc etc but you don't just walk into a shop and select Ipswich Speedway off the shelf and walk out with it! I agree that perhaps comms could have been a bit sharper but thats speedway all over - also whilst time drags for us waiting it flies for those involved in selling / buying!! It's also not up to Louis to annouce the team - that's new owners job!

Nice to see an interview or rather Q&A with Peter Thorogood in last weeks edition - he will be 93 this year!! Another speedway legend for all he has done for the sport over the years particularly at Arena

have said for a while that points money (if it still exists for some) should be for finishing the race not starting it!

Decent side with continuity in the key spots - reserves could be a weakness but overall i reckon they will be fine top 5 spot awaits 😉

As an Arena fan always have a huge amount of time for 'awesome Richard Lawson' solid and reliable wherever he rides!

In a copy of the star a few weeks ago there was also an interview with Jake Allen and he alluded to riders not being paid and it seemd he wasn't talking about the UK either he as going tofiscus on riding UK and championship only - not quite the vertabim quote but it was something like 'whats the point of riding being promised the earth and not being paid' - he talked of rider sbeing owed fair substantial sums Seems that TV money generally just goes straight to the riders and the big elite survive and the others struggle - its the same for so many sports!

Invoking the SAS implies an elite service - not sure that holds for speedway futures maybe Trotters Independent Traders!!
