  1. I fully expect him him to score 12-15 or so of course an EF or crash could ruin it but i've seen him ride there admittedly it was 2015 or 16 but he wont be scared to have a good go! Tigers need a couple of early heat advantages then its game on, Zagar wasnt all that when i saw him at Owlerton earlier this year and Brennan struggled as well, the key man is Kurtz if he shows up and scores well the Aces might well nick it!
  2. In their own way both sides will feel happy - Sheffield will feel that can overturn the 12 points and BV have a lead to defend on Thursday which given all the carnage is at least a lead. If the tigers start with a couple of 5-1s then it will be very interesting a BV scored 36 when I saw then but anything can happen on Thursday. One things for sure on current form Lambert is by far a better option than Fricke!
  3. For my money Lambert is better than all of them, but you are right matches are won on the track not on forums or on paper! Form can go out of the window on the night, or a crash / EF can affect things for either side! BV got spanked the time I went but I do expect Lambert to ride well with the caveats of the above
  4. lets put it this way - had it been the wifes birthday last night id have been plenty annoyed had i traded 'brownie points' to attend that! maybe I will hope for a rain off and restaging
  5. He is and when he rode there previously he was nowhere near as good as he is now! Sheffield and the NSS are his kind of tracks - and agree great progress for the Tigers this year here is hoping they have a decent 2023 also that I can get down to a few more i particularly enjoyed the home 46-44 over Wolves in June or May
  6. A fair few top riders do struggle at Sheffield but I don't expect Lambert to be one of them, I have seen him ride there and he went well on that occasion. Will be rooting for the Tigers for sure - sadly can't make the Thursday home leg as itas the wifes birthday they have these the wrong way round! So good luck Tigers - we have seen some cracking playoff finals over the years lets hope this is one of them!
  7. complete contrast to when I saw Wolves at Owlerton in June or was it May - Mountain scored 3 I think and Becker about paid 9 or 10 - Tigers sneaked a 46-44 win - I hope the final is good as this hasn't been great! I lied Mountain got 5+1 but Becker was 9+1 (checked thanks to the updates site)
  8. I’d say so last time I heard JG was residing at her (late) majesties pleasure whilst Lambert has done ok for himself in speedway
  9. Seen Fricke once at Owlerton this year he got 3 I think - two duck eggs in heats 1 and 6 On balance I’d say Lambert the stronger option scrap that Fricke got 9 from 5 (1,1,3,2,2) I confused him with Sam Masters above who got 3 (R,R,2,1) for Wolves in their 44-46 defeat! still think Lambert the better option (just)
  10. I hope so one of the things i like to see is good riders blasting round Owlerton at full pace with some passing thrown in for good measure!
  11. very droll - I will be interested observer at Owlerton in the final (should the tigers get there) as the one time I have seen Lambert ride there he was good!
  12. as the saying goes lets see him do that on wet night at Stoke!!
  13. I think its worth reminding ourselves of how much better 2022 has been than 2021 for the Witches - certainly the playoffs have a been a blow but a team built around Doyle could be good for next year!
  14. Good to see Lambert back in the UK (regardless of circumstances) - will he be back next season tho? Witches tried in the opening half of the meeting but fell away badly as the night progressed - they were out of it and it showed sadly! If its a Sheffield v Bv final I will certainly attend the Owlerton leg
  15. thats kinda how it used to be in the olden days of the 80s finally got round to watching this on catchup - was away at the time feel the Witches threw this away a bit after a good start 9-3 after 2 heats they should have kicked on but didn't. Congrats to BV - I recall someone saying Zagar should be binned after the visit in the summer - well good job he wasnt!!
  16. Lambert rides Owlerton fairly well - I saw him ride for Newcastle there about 2015 or 16 - at the time he was an up and coming rider who I could tell from that night would go on to do great things! I even had a discussion with some of the Tigers fans about him - he come up against Garrity 3 times that night and lost each time but was close - the locals were crowing a bit - I said to them lets see where they both are on 5 years!! I rest my case
  17. I know what you mean - I first went in the 87 season to Arena and for me my best days were 87-92 - then i just turned up - once I understood the sport more the rules and got involved more the enthusiasm waned. I’ve only been a peripheral visitor for many years some seasons I didn’t go at all - maybe once or so when visiting my parents - but this year my Father died in early March just as the season was about to start - it was something he and I did together in that 5 year period before I became an adult so to speak - something drew me back to speedway and I have enjoyed 2 visits to Sheffield and 5-6 at Foxhall which is the nearest track when I go to visit my mother. It’s the most I have been to speedway for many years. this season I have just turned up watched the races filled in my programme and ignored all the chatter - I’ve enjoyed it!!! And I agree 100% a great speedway race is the greatest l thing ever!!
  18. Sadly this is all over I suspect - will watch it on Tv rather than go across t’Pennines to see it live
  19. You used to be able to adopt retired greyhounds from the track a few years back - assume they have some sort of kennels there
  20. The Police wouldn’t have let anybody into the stadium - that wouldn’t be their remit - what they will have done is said the roads around and to the stadium are closed and will remain so until such time as we reopen them and we advise you to not add pressure to the situation by having 1500 people arriving most of them in cars! Tigers management actually took the correct decision here!! I have no idea why the greyhounds went ahead - however most midweek Greyhound meetings don’t get many fans at all as the betting it either online or in the betting shops not in the stadium itself - I went to one once and it was literally one man and it dog there in the afternoon! - Evenings different.
