  1. that scoring system favours sitting in 2nd/3rd and blocking the 4th rider. BORING
  2. Good question but a better system to have 3-2-1 points. That stops one pair sitting 2nd / 3rd and then watching a boring heat with them blocking the weaker rider of the other pair. I hope Woffy rides on his home track with Cook. Lambert as reserve.
  3. World Championship pairs action is back for 2018 as the Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations launches in June. Featuring 15 countries, the exciting new competition will be staged during the FIM Speedway Grand Prix summer break in place of the Monster Energy FIM Speedway World Cup. Seven nations will compete in two Race Off events at separate locations on June 2 and June 5 respectively, with the top three countries from each joining hosts Poland in the Final at Wroclaw’s Olympic Stadium, which will be staged over two rounds on June 8 and 9. It’s the first time a World Championship event has been decided over a pairs format since the 1998 World Team Cup. And BSI Speedway managing director Torben Olsen believes the new competition will ensure an epic title race and bring new nations on to the world speedway stage. He said: “There have long been calls for a World Championship pairs tournament to return and I’m certain the new Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations will make for an awesome week of racing. “It will be great to see as many as 15 nations involved in the race for the World Championship, offering more riders and fans a chance to be part of the action. “With the championship riding on the last race of the week, we’re guaranteed a thrilling finale, and we can’t wait to see who comes out on top.” FIM Track Racing Director Armando Castagna said: "I'm very excited and looking forward to this new FIM World Championship. We have been working for a long time to find the best possible format and scenario for a Speedway of Nations. I am sure that this Championship will provide a lot of surprises and suspense. We have been increasing the number of Nations entering a Team Championship, and giving the Federations the chance to nominate a young rider in each team will give a boost to the youth program in the participating countries. It will also give us all the chance to see young riders racing at a high level. I want to thank and congratulate our Promoter BSI for believing in Speedway of Nations and I'm sure that together we will organise a very special new FIM Championship." The tournament is the ultimate test of team riding as the top two riders from each country battle it out. Each meeting will be contested over 21 ordinary heats, with Race Off 1 and 2 containing an extra 2 shoot out heats for the remaining places in the Finals. For the Finals, the highest-scoring nation after heat 21 on the second day will advance straight to the Grand Final heat, where they will be joined by the winner of a shoot out semi-final race between the second and third-placed countries overall. The Grand Final winner will be crowned the new world champions. Teams will score three points for a race win, two for second, one for third and zero for fourth place, as per a regular speedway heat. As well as selecting their top two stars, each country has the option to name an under-21 reserve, who can feature in an unlimited number of their side’s heats at the team manager’s discretion. But each side must remain unchanged for the entire tournament, with replacements only allowed in the event of an injury. More information about the Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations will be released in due course.
  4. Seriously this is ridiculous in a variety of sports. No one is forced to do there job as a ring girl, walk on darts girl or umbrella girl. If a lady wishes to do the job then why not let them earn some money. A couple of people who are offended, its probably no more than that, should be told to clear off and find offence elsewhere. Its getting to a time where no one can say anything about any subject in case it causes offence. .
  5. Does anyone know when the Polish decide on what day over each weekend Nice fixtures are run ? Or maybe someone already has a consolidated list of Extraleague and Nice league fixtures. Thanks in advance.
  6. take your point about being a draw card but, as for his time, he'll use the meeting like the other riders which is to refine things for the season and get a meeting under his belt.

  8. Riders should be allowed to double up. I don't know what a rider like Scott Nicholls or Ed Kennett earn but they only have 30 meetings a year in the top division. Is that enough to give a rider in a very dangerous / expensive sport a decent wage. If there is a demand to see them race, and promotors would only employ riders like that, then why not let them do it in two leagues. Its brainless the BPSA seem to look after Aussie's and Danes better than home grown talent. Why ban two Brits needlessly as there is no cross over between the two leagues now. The reasons given for banning them just don't add up. The promotors moan about low gates, they cant make any money, but at the end of the day it's them who are bad businessmen and will run the sport into the ground.
  9. The girls that do the job do it without pressure and it's their own choice. Do'gooders telling others they are offended. Tell them to clear off.
  10. When will we know if the Nice fixtures are Friday or Saturday. Anyone know ? Thanks
  11. No but why not try to look for a positive occasionally. There are good things in speedway.
  12. Christ Humph you are so boring. Have you anything positive to say about the sport.
  13. You are right but realistically how many do we really need for riders who might qualify for a GP series. Can't think of one rider who would qualify or enhance the GP series..
  14. It was, half the size of Leszno's stadium of course, but it was nearly a sell out. England had Tai in the team, World Champion at the time, so we had a very good chance of a medal.
  15. It was only a packed stadium because it was in Poland and they were going to win.
  16. One gripe with pairs is the heat winning team can be beaten by the team coming 2nd & 3rd. If you get an exclusion the heat is worthless as a spectacle. I'm unsure what the answer is but winning a heat is not always rewarded fully. Pairs will mainly take away the sight of a rider who is out of his depth being tailed off. Most heats should be competitive with the best two from each nation in every race. That is worth watching. I'm not worried about having a Brit in every race. In Leszno the Brit was 50 yards behind after one bend in most races. I got no fun watching that on TV.. I've little interest watching the Poles win the SWC every year for the next 10 years. That is the reality of there strength, it's a potential turn off for fans, so it's worth giving a new format a try. No jokers in pairs, is that right ?
  17. I can see your point but got to be doubtful any speedway nation will be anywhere near a football world cup final.
  18. Not shooting the messenger but that is bonkers. We need money being put into the sport but if that happens, new promoter, they have no say on how things are run. Can you imagine football being run like that.
  19. Why would anyone want the biggest moaner in speedway Batchelor. ?
