  1. So, that's twice in a few weeks that Mr Vatcher has decided on a ruling. So, what is the point of a BSPA Management Committee?
  2. David Howe has Tweeted that he got a 28-day ban when his daughter was in intensive care (and missed meetings, I presume and, quite rightly in my opinion). Is it "one rule for one, one rule for another"?
  3. We went to Sheffield 3 times last season. 9 June PL Lost 49-44. 21 July KOC D 45-45. 29 Sep Play Off L 48-42.
  4. **OOPS (for the second time today!!)** They did indeed get a point, which was thoroughly deserved.
  5. Kevin Long did a sterling job on Thursday gone (1st June vs Newcastle), when he presented the meeting on his own. He kept fans informed as to what was going on during all the delays (both before and during the meeting) and also kept the crowd 'entertained' by going around the track and, basically, taking the 'p' out of people, but it was done in a light-hearted way.
  6. Certainly made up for Ipswich (a bit!). Once again I thought Ben did his job tonight. Hopefully Lewis will find his gating gloves again soon, as he appears to have lost them since the British Semi-Final. Three points is all we can ask for and we also stopped them getting a point, so job done.
  7. I've got to be honest and say we must be looking at Connor beating Ryan MacDonald in heats 2 and 4. I saw Josh Embleton up at Glasgow in an NJL match not that far behind MacDonald, so Connor should really be beating him on his home track (no extra pressure on Connor there then!!). ** OOPS! Forgot George has switched Connor back to 6 and Ben to 7!!
  8. The only thing I can find is there's a concert there on the 20th May and the Comets switch to Sunday (against Edinburgh). I can't find anything for the 6th (which doesn't mean to say that there wasn't anything on that date), except Cookie was away in a GP Qualifier, which is why he missed the Friday (5th) meeting at Edinburgh. No explanation is given on the Comets website for a blank weekend on the 6th/7th (at least not that I can see).
  9. So, let's hope Ben and Connor can score 6 between them, otherwise we are goosed!
  10. I'd agree with all those (except maybe Roy Clarke !). I'd add Dave Hoggart (now at Workington, but previously at Sheffield). The guy at Edinburgh keeps you informed and does interviews to keep you interested.
  11. Here's the answer! http://www.newcastlediamonds.co/news/article.asp?id=100721 Thread now started.
  12. No one else appears to want to start a thread so here goes. R/R for Ludvig and Josh Embleton is named as our number 8 tonight. Brief preview and line-ups here: http://www.newcastlediamonds.co/news/article.asp?id=100721
  13. That would be Sat 6th May and Sun 7th May I think you are alluding to (?). Don't know about Workington on the 6th, but we (Newcastle) were due to meet Redcar on the 7th, but the Diamonds promotion decided to postpone it due to the possibility of lack of staff to run the meeting, due to it being the last day of the Championship football season (Newcastle Utd were at home that day).
  14. I'd leave R/R at number 4 personally, but wouldn't be surprised to see R/R at No 2 with Ash switching to No 4.
  15. R/R, with Josh Embleton the named number 8.
  16. He's put on Facebook (when somebody asked him) that is OK for tomorrow Germany in a GP Qualifier
  17. I wouldn't touch Boxall with a barge pole and, anyway, he'd only injure is hand somehow....
  18. This might explain things: https://twitter.com/NLSpeedway/status/870984762902679554
  19. I thought Ben did OK last week at home to Scunthorpe. Sam Dore scored 12 + 4 from 48 rides in 12 matches for us. Mark Blackwell scored 18+4 from 51 rides in 13 matches. I think Ben will at least equal those tally's. Connor? Not sure. Now that Connor has been axed by Eastbourne, he won't get the extra rides I think he needs to help him in the SGB Championship. But, as far as I can see, there aren't many options out there to replace him with. Jake Knight and David Wallinger have both been mentioned. Jake Knight tried what was the PL and didn't last too long. David Wallinger seems to have improved in the NL this season, but is he ready for the SGBC? Would either be willing to join us in the second-tier? It's just a shame that James Shanes' schedule on the Grasstrack and Longtrack circuit can't fit around speedway. Even if it could, we wouldn't be the only ones after his services, as has already been seen by Ipswich trying to sign him.
  20. Yep. Effective from 8th June (away at Sheffield). Stevie 9.09, Robert 8.95.
  21. There was plenty of grading, but it didn't seem to help with the problems on the first two turns, nor did it improve the racing (not that there was any racing, as such, to improve on). One genuine overtake all night (lap 2 heat 15), tells its own story. That was my 4th (I think) visit to Ipswich. I've seen good racing on it in the past (including the one when it threw it down and they had to put sawdust down, for a KOC Final in October 2012), but last night was poor.
